We arrived at the Union hotel two days before we were expected to begin a six day hike of the Salkantay Trek. We were immediately hit with pretty severe altitude sickness. The staff at this hotel, Jorge, Jimmy and Marilin, was fabulous at recognizing our issue and working hard to address it. They went out of their way to ensure that we drank the Coca leaf tea, had some additional oxygen, and were provided with soup and water. I can't say enough about how kind everyone is at this hotel. The hotel itself is lovely, with a colorful and sun filled outdoor atrium and I am only sorry we did not have time to lounge there for some time. The rooms are immaculate and the complementary breakfast offered all we could need to start our day from delicious french pressed coffee, to fruit, to scrambled eggs, toast, pastry, oatmeal, etc. Questions related to tours and directions around Cusco were answered happily and the staff went out of the way to help with any arrangements that were needed. We had made reservations to stay at another property at the end of our trek, however we felt so comfortable here that we cancelled those so that we could stay at the Union instead. The property is located centrally to all we needed to see in Cusco, just a few blocks from the main shopping square and walking distance, (even for out of breath tourists) to the main squares and Cathedrals. This property is a hidden gem, and we would recommend the Union Hotel to anyone traveling to Cusco.

Great hotel, 5 min walk from Plaza de Las Armas, clean, delicious breakfast that’s included.
Heating in the room was so nice and we were touched by the detail when were put hot water bottles in bed. So great when you come back from hours of hiking.

The only “problem” we dealt with was noise, you hear pretty much everything that’s happens in the corridor or in the next room.

Kind staff, helped us heaps with 3AM breakfast to the room, taxis, etc

24h hot water available for teas. (Coca leaves also are complimentary)

Would definitely come back!

The hotel is clean, the rooms aren't crammed with wool blankets or carpets, which is fundamental for people with allergies (such as me and my wife).

Their location is very good, right next to Mercado San Pedro and 7-10 minute walk from Plaza de Armas. Another good place near the hotel is the market down the street that sell water, snacks and other things by half the price you would pay in other stores.

The food in their restaurant is very tasty, better than some expensier places in town and helps a lot after a long day full of activities.

Their breakfast is awesome with pancakes, waffles, eggs (sunnyside, revueltos, omelets, etc), coffe, tea, infusions (mint, coca, munĂŁ), etc.

Most imporant of all, the staff are lovely! Specially the breakfast crew Yulisa, Vanessa, Ruben and Roy! Not to mention their pet lhama Kiki and its "mom" Veronica!

Dear henryt212, Thank you for your detailed and thoughtful review! We are delighted to hear that you and your wife enjoyed your stay and found our hotel clean and comfortable, especially given your allergies. We strive to provide a welcoming environment for all our guests. Our location is indeed convenient, being close to Mercado San Pedro and within walking distance to Plaza de Armas. We're glad you found the nearby market useful as well. It's wonderful to hear that you enjoyed the food in our restaurant and our extensive breakfast offerings. We take pride in offering delicious meals to our guests, and we're thrilled that you found them better than some of the more expensive places in town. Your kind words about our staff, especially Yulisa, Vanessa, Ruben, and Roy, mean a lot to us. We're also pleased that Kiki and her caretaker Veronica added to your experience. We expect to see you again soon. Kind regards Jorge Lazo General Manager Union Hotel Cusco

We booked this hotel as during our honeymoon trip to Peru in Dec'19. The rooms are terribly stuffy, the one we got was in the middle of the courtyard and not private at all. We asked them to move us to another room and they said they didn't have any rooms in the style we booked, she said she couldn't give us another room. So we had to downgrade to one but there the window wouldn't open. If you have altitude sickness - do not book this hotel. We were claustrophobic and woke up with a headache. We could hear every other tenant as though we were living in a tent. We moved hotels. I would not recommend this hotel.

I write this reviw with a heavy heart. Mainly because the staff is amazing, the rooms are nice, and breakfast fresh and did the job.

The main issue encountered was hotel party nights that began cranking up on Thurs, Fri, and Sat nights while there. If you are interested in dancing through to 4a nightly, this is likely a great hotel for you. On the other hand if you are interested in sleeping, this hotel will present challenges, particularly on these nights. While the hotel staff do a great job to keep the DJ and event noise to surprisingly quiet levels, hotel guests traveling to and from their room to the venue tend to be boisterous and unaware of the generally thin walls while singing, shouting, etc. Loved the hotel and staff! Not a fan of the experience there on party nights.

Nice quaint place near Mercado San Pedro and the San Pedro cathedral, set up by our tour company. The room was clean and had the complimentary coca tea, water, and hot water bottles for the cold Andean nights. Nice firm bed, which was a pleasant surprise to more bouncy ones we experienced in Peru. There is a live music show from 6:30-8:30pm daily, and there is the cute alpaca, Kiki, to entertain you. For those wanting to clean their clothes, there is a laundry close by that charges per kg (about 10 PEN per kg) and delivers it to the hotel with your room number. Our complimentary breakfast was nice, with a nice selection of fruits, soup (corn soup was delicious), juices, small sandwiches, and courtesy of wonderful service from Vaneza, Roy, and Chef Ruben.

Highly recommend staying here.

Dear Anand L, Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience at Union Hotel Cusco. We are more than happy to know that you can enjoy our property and the staff service as well, it warms our hearts to know that you appreciated the charming courtyard where our delightful alpaca Kiki resides. We're delighted that you had the opportunity to interact with our furry friend and enjoy the nightly music shows that we offer every days. Also we are happy to know that we have managed to exceed your expectations. It is a great motivation for us and all the staff will be happy to hear your words, specially Roy, Ruben & Vaneza from our restaurant team. This was the most charming hotel in Cusco with its own Alpaca (actually more than one as we saw 2 different ones during our stay. Veronika was the alpaca care-taker and you could tell she took great care of them). The room was spacious (they even put hot water bottles into your bed at night - such a nice treat); the courtyard was inviting (with nightly music), they had a big bottle/jug of water in the hallway to fill your water bottles each day, the location was perfect (felt very safe), the included breakfast was amazing! but the staff is what made our stay memorable. I wish I could name everyone at the hotel from the managers, front desk staff (they even helped us book a great private tour of the Sacred Valley). Everyone was so helpful and kind. Gracielia and Regina stood out with their warm smiles and personalities. Highly, highly recommend staying here on your vacation to Cusco. They stored our luggage while we did the Inca trail and provided snacks for the drive to our tours as the tours left early in the morning. Thank you to everyone at Union Hotel for making our stay here so memorable

I had a great stay at Union hotel, I particularly enjoyed the breakfast with a tremendous choices of eggs, pancakes, waffles, teas, fruits...
A big shoutout for the women Yulisa, Claudia, Vanessa working as waitresses and cook. Thank you Yulisa for being that caring and kind.
The bedroom was quite clean and the service brings tea, and sweet treats which is quite appreciable.
I would merely quote that the bedrooms are not really soundproof (I had 2 different ones) and you can hear whatever’s happening in the hotel compound.
The transportation to the airport when leaving + laundry are charged (quite expensive).
Otherwise, quite place, not too many people.
As a backpacker I enjoyed talking to different people but obviously it’s not really a place to stay if you’d like to meet people !

My stay at Hotel Union Cusco was full of positive aspects. The shower was excellent, providing a relaxing and invigorating moment. The air-conditioned room was a lifesaver to face Cusco's characteristic cold, making the experience much more pleasant.

The location is a great asset, situated right in the historic center, allowing for easy walking and exploration of the region. The breakfast deserves to be highlighted, with an exceptional variety and impeccable service. The presence of a chef who prepares waffles, crepes and omelettes live adds a special touch.

Furthermore, the option to store luggage after checkout at no additional cost is very convenient, and the presence of a bathroom in the common area is a useful detail.

A BONUS is the presence of the adorable baby alpaca named Kiki, well cared for and incredibly cute.

There are, however, some points to be improved. Room 101, where I stayed on my first stay, was exposed to the street and close to the reception, which resulted in a lot of noise. One piece of information that could be better communicated is the possibility of requesting a snack box for tours that leave early in the morning, which could be very useful.

Furthermore, the Wi-Fi could also be a little better, but it works.

Yes, they can arrange a transfer service for you, but it is just the regular taxi. I wouldn't recommend it. You can use Uber and we found that Uber was always cheaper and regular taxi drivers use Uber as well. Furthermore, at the end of a trip, it asks for the tip, but it's only the equivalent of $1.66 and they were always very appreciative. That being said, we had a taxi driver try to charge us what came out to $50, we said "no thanks", ordered an Uber and it was $11, so...
