Detailed Reviews
I stayed here for about ten days on and off in my time in Cusco. I stayed in the female 8 bed dorm which was probably the nicest dorm I stayed in during my trip to South America. The ladies dorm had the curtains over each bed and a storage locker and lamp which was so handy. We had an en-suite as well which was nice.
Cinthia at the front desk was always really helpful an welcoming, and all of the door staff and bar staff were really friendly. The vibe in the hostel was really chilled and laid back. Amenity wise they had a travel desk so you could book tours, a bar which had a great menu, a luggage storage and could arrange for your laundry to be cleaned and returned same day.
In all, I loved my stay there. It was so comfortable. The breakfast every morning was by far the best of any hostel in Cusco going from what friends told me. Also if you were going to miss breakfast to go on a trip, they would organised a packed lunch for you to take with you, I thought this was a really great service. My only gripe is that I only learned about this from an fellow traveller and not from staff. Shame that there wasn’t more of a vibe in the bar at night but then again if there was, maybe I wouldn’t have gotten a good nights sleep. I’d definitely recommend Kokopelli to other travellers.

Stayed for 2 different nights in the deluxe 8-bed female dorms. Privacy curtain for each bed was great! Lockers available inside of bed pod. Every night I slept comfortably and it was amazingly quiet in the room. Plenty of spacious bathrooms and toilets for use outside of bedrooms. Booked a Machu Picchu tour with their tour agent “What A Trip” which was great and competitively priced. Breakfast was great, there was an omelette bar with a chef cooking it. Beautiful common areas. Great safety and location. I didn’t get to experience the social aspect of this hostel because I was here to rest shortly before and after my Machu Picchu trip. Totally will recommend this hostel for anyone coming to Cusco.

Kokopelli was a fun and cute hostel with great service and amenities. We used the laundry service (quick, reliable, and super clean) and booked a tour through their recommended tour group, WhatATrip Peru and were so happy :)
There were plenty of places throughout to chill, be it with larger groups or solo & indoor and out. We rented a private 2 twin bed room and were pleased with the size of the space and restroom.
Breakfast was served each morning with options for carry out bags, perfect for 4 AM treks. Coca tea was served all day too which was lovely for fighting altitude sickness.
Great location - super walkable and close to everything you could need!
Also - unlike other hostels in the area, the front door was locked with security so we felt extra secure about the space and leaving our belongings there during the day. :)

I stayed for two weeks in this hostel. The breakfast is the best I've ever had in a hostel, the beds are extremely comfy and private with great black out curtains. The cleanliness was impecable and the staff are willing to go out of their way to help you in any way they can. They're extremely committed to making sure that you have the best experience possible while staying in Cusco. The hostel has two big courtyards, a garden, lots of chill-out sofas scattered around, and a bar so you can have a nice quiet time to yourself to relax or else go and socialise with the other guests, which, is made very easy.

The staff was lovely, and speak perfect English and Spanish. Ingrid was especially lovely
The place was clean , everyone was so friendly.
The BEST hostel breakfast I’ve ever seen
Great location in the city centre easy access to everything
Tiffany at the reservations desk was also really helpful with booking trips and extra information, a good service they provide
Decently priced and they often upgrade you to rooms with less people too

Clean hostel, good vibe and specially the people in the bar area ( thanks William) made my stay great. Always really kind during breakfast, dinner and events. The staff is constantly cleaning and that also gives a great experience, specially when you share with so many others

coffee, tea and cereals. It is located in the center of the downtown close to all city atractions. I strong recommend kokopelli. Sure I'll be back in kokopelli in the future. 🤣😎💪

DO NOT BOOK the “ Matrimonial Mixed Pods Ensuite” on HostelWorld it’s labeled “4 Bed Mixed Dorm with ensuite”. Although it is a big spacious room it is right next to the common area and below the bar. This is party hostel so people are loud af all night long! Absolutely NOT WORTH IT!!! Even with noise cancelling headphones in you can still hear/feel the bass. They were out of towels for the first 2 days of our stay. They do not provide hand sanitizer in the hostel or enforce masks or in public areas even though we’re in the middle of a pandemic. Save yourself the sleep deprivation and a possible COVID infection and book something else.

Response from Vladimir Huaman, Director General at Viajero Cusco Hostel
Responded Mar 5, 2022
Dear Guest, Thank you for having taken the time to share your impression about your stay with us. We're sorry for any inconvenience you might have during your stay with us. We understand this review has been written just some hours after your check-in, and we understand is natural you got a wrong impression about our service, you even didn't give us the chance to sort out the inconveniences. Yes, our bar is located above the room, but we stop the music in a prudent hour. yes, we had troubles with the number of towels for rent, we already got more to avoid this situation for future guests. In the hostel, we have places where you can disinfect and wash your hands, and we even provide free masks if guests need them, additionally, there are signs with the prevent and social measures, yes, it's our responsibility to ask all guests the use of masks, however, since, in some countries the use of masks hasn't been required, they think do not have the obligation to use it here. Your comments are truly valuables for me, we will reinforce the care of the noise and measures against the Covid. Best Regards KOKOPELLI

This definitely is one of the nicest hostels I’ve been to, the space is just beautiful, everything is perfectly laid and the staff is top notch. This is on the pricier side but you can totally see why. The problem with these somewhat party hostels is the noise that’s being generated from the bar but these guys have tucked it away far from the rooms. If you want a more chill vibe you got the courtyard on the other end. Generally speaking most of the clientele is coming back from a long trek or a long day but with the theme nights and beer pong tournaments they’ve figured out how to still have a good crowd every night at the bar. At the helm you got the Bar Manager William which after returning a week later still remembered my name. This guy makes some mean drinks and with the daily specials you’re set for the night. Another nice perk is they let you leave your bags while you’re off trekking. Go explore! Cheers

First the bad things:
1. One of the night there was party until 2 AM in the living room and I was staying in a 4 place bedroom next to it. I had to get up early for a trip (4 AM) and I could not sleep much, even with earplugs.
2. I took the laundry service and I specifically requested no tumble dry. All my clothes (almost 30 pieces) have shrunk, even the person claim that they did not use the machine. The fact is that the clothes are shrunk and when they delivered they were warm and full of static...
3. I booked the trip to the sacred valley with the agency that is inside the hostel ("What a trip!"). They forgot to pick me up and have to put me in a shared taxi with 4 other locals to the first destination, 1 hour away from Cusco. Although shared taxis are the norm for locals here and usually safe, it is not a great experience for a tourist that just landed in Cusco.
Now the good things: Even though I have shared 3 negatives situations, the rest of my experience here it has been superb. The hostel is clean and the staff is really friendly and helpful. Specially William, the bar manager from the hostel. Always trying to help and make you feel at home, he teaches how to make Pisco on Wednesdays for free. Big thumbs up to him and his assistant.
Also, the private rooms are quite comfortable and in the back of the hostel, so you should not have any problems if the party gets started and you want to sleep.

Hi Rebecca! Thanks for choosing Kokopelli! And welcome to Cusco! Please, you can visit our website to check availability and to request your reservation. We will reply to you in the next hours.
Also, about your question, private rooms have high demand so I would recommend you to book from the night before.
We also hace a special early check in dorm where you can stay until 2pm. This is a shared dorm for 4 people. We don't really offer this room online and you can request it upon your arrival and the price is only S/.25 including breakfast :).
Hola Myriam!
Our check in time is at 1pm and our check out is at 11am. If your bed in a dormitory or your private room is free from the night before, of course you can check at that time.
Otherwise, we also have an "early check in room" that you can request upon arrival in reception. The price of this special room also includes breakfast.
See you in a couple of days and thank you for choosing Kokopelli!
Not sure about heated rooms but it definitely wasn't cold overnight - not enough to notice it!
They do have hair dryers that you can hire x
Hi Mycah,
Thanks for stay with us! Although we have a really nice bar, we are fully commit to offer our guests a good quality of rest. Also to be specific with your question, our only girls dorm is located in our second patio, far from the bar and in a quiet area of the hostel. So you can sleep very well in this dormitory.
See you soon!
