So we did a little research and ended up booking for Hotel Ruinas, The location was excellent, very centric and convenient (you can literally walk to most places), The hotel itself was very very nice, super cozy and historic at the same time. The front desk lady was super helpful, as well as the youngster who helped us with the bags. They were so helpful and courteous, they wouldnt even wait or expect a tip, as soon as they were done they'd be ready to say bye and leave not expecting a tip like here in the US. We though it was pretty crazy. Got a room on the 3rd floor, excellent view, they actually provide you with complementary coca tea as soon as you get there. Oh and we got AMAZING breakfast in the mornings, Some of the freshest fruits, cereals (super-grains and such) natural juices, etc It was truly remarkable, we LOVED IT.
the price was incredibly reasonable and comfortable. Overall guys, You are gonna LOVE this city, the people, the FOOD, MACHU PICCHU!! and this hotel was Terrific! We loved it and will be back when in Cusco next time.------->Enjoy!

Good location just 200m from Plaza de Armas so convenient but a bit noisy. Staff very friendly and gave us a very early check in at just 9am which was awesome as we had taken an overnight bus from Cusco and were in need of a shower and a snooze. Room was a bit basic, big clean bed but not much space to move around. Bathroom worked and was clean but again a bit basic. Breakfast good and started at 4:30 ? Which fitted well with excursion twines etc. All in all "good" but not memorable. related travel agent "Ruinas Travel" sorted out a great day at Macchu Picchu.

Maybe the hotel needs some luxury and modernity, but the rooms and bathrooms are very clean... the breakfast is a great buffet.
And the location is perfect... the main square is nearly to the hotel... about 3 blocks.

I stayed there for 2 nights recently with a friend. The hotel was run by friendly staff whom were so warm and welcoming to ensure that everyone was well looked after - I could not fault their attentiveness. The hotel was centrally located close to the square and near the main bars and restaurant areas. I had a room that was clean and cosy and again, could not fault this for the rate I had paid for the room. Overall the stay was a good value and I would recommend this hotel to other travellers.

I stayed at Hotel Ruinas for two nights during a recent trip to Peru. This place was excellent in all respects. It is centrally located and conveniently close to the Plaza des Armas and numerous good restaurants and interesting shops. The room was spacious and nicely furnished and had beds that were quite comfortable. Of the five hotels we stayed at during the trip, this was one of the most enjoyable. The breakfasts were comprehensive and delicious, with lots of variety. I'd gladly stay at this place again.

This hotel is 2 blocks from the main square in Cuzco and surrounded by great restaurants. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast was nice and simple... not a lot of stuff but pretty much all hotels that I stayed at seem to offer the same: 2-3 juice options, break, cold cuts/cheese eggs, bacon/sausage, yogurt/cereal and fruit. My first room faced the back and it was a bit hard to sleep as there were dogs barking during the night. My second night (on the way back from Machu Picchu) the room was quieter than the first. Overall it was a very nice place and I would definitely recommend it.

Ruinas was our least favorite of all the hotels we stayed in during our 17 days in Peru. Our room was tiny but it did over look the city. The rooms were not very clean, the breakfast was adequate but nothing special. The employees were helpful however one of our friends accidently left her key in the room and the manager insisted she could not open the door for her until someone brought a key from another location -- an hour later! In the meantime, other employees were going into rooms to clean them!! Surely there was a pass key!

Simple but clean and with good service. Breakfast was good and price in tune with the hotel. Room was clean, a little outdated, but with a refrigerator and flat screen tv. A little noisy, but good hotel overall.

Hotel Ruinas is located only 2 blocks from the main Plaza de Armas and has all the convenience you need like a small supermarket and laundry services right along the street. The one unfortunate thing right now is that The Marriot Hotel is being built next doo and there is the constant drilling and jack hammering sound all day. If you are not in your room during the day.. .this is fine.
I had a room with a balcony 210 facing the street so there was a lot of street noise. I did ask for another room and they accomodated me with another one but this was smaller and did not have a fridge so I stayed in my original room. Honestly.. you get used to the traffic noise. I did anyway.
The breakfast is great.. the usual continental spread of breads, cold meats, cereals and yoghurt and a great array of fruit. The staff also provided me with a bowl and spoon when I asked for one to just cut up fruit that I had bought.
But it was mainly the lovely staff at the front desk who spoke great English and always had a smile for you. They were great at passing on messages from my travel agency as to pick up times etc. A special thanks to Javier at the front desk for assisting me in picking up a fellow travellers dry cleaning . I was left instructions by another fellow traveller to pick up her dry cleaning as she was staying overnight at Aguas Calientes and the clothes were not ready.. anyway.. the laundry girl had no idea what I was saying and Javier nicely offered to come with me and sort it out. He was a great help.

I am leaving for Machu Pichu tomorrow morning and returning here in 5 days for one night and I look forward to coming back here to recuperate before heading to Puno.

Also the gorgeous suburb of San Blas is literally around the corner up the hill.
