Detailed Reviews
Beautiful hotel, great staff, comfy rooms. The hotel is two blocks away from Plaza de Armas, great restaurant in the front. The breakfast was very good. The have original artifacts from the Incas on display, 24 hour reception. I stayed 4 nights and was very satisfied overall.

Really enjoyed the hotel staff and proximity of town center. Short walk to take in the culture and amazing architecture. The hotel was almost like a museum in all the artifacts that is on site. Bathrooms are modern and clean. Breakfast had a great selection

This is a wonderful, quaint little hotel in a great location with wonderful customer service. I was able to make my reservations via e-mail prior to leaving the U.S. The hotel also made all of my tour arrangements for Machupicchu, again, via e-mail prior to me leaving the U.S. The rate included breakfast for two, transfers both ways between the airport, and two welcome drinks, the ubiquitous Peruvian Pisco Sour. The hotel is right around the corner from the Plaza Mejor and within easy walking distance of two Fodor's recommended restaurants. The staff was great and spoke fluent English, the breakfast was good (included hot dogs) and the bar was nice. Our room was huge with a fireplace though I'm not sure all the rooms were this size. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Cusco. Two words of caution, though. The hotel is three floors but does not have an elevator. And, our room was on the street side of the hotel. Drivers in Peru feel compelled to honk constantly, at all times of the night. My wife has some trouble getting a good night's sleep so you may want to request a room at the back of the hotel.

My 16 year old son, a friend & his 2 teenage boys & I stayed for 3 night prior to hiking the Inca trail. We found the rooms comfortable and the staff very helpful. The location was excellant and the restaurant good. A room with a small balcony made the stay even more pleasant. Plan to stay again

Stayed for a week and was very pleased. The hotel is clean and the staff is very kind. We were picked up at the airport by three people including the driver.
Upon reaching the hotel we scheduled activites with Leskov for our entire trip including water rafting, Machu Picchu (train, hotel, food and bus tickets), para-gliding and tours of the city and Sacred Valley. Payment was made all at once for the entire week's activities, and Leskov sent us off every morning after we'd eaten breakfast.

A very good 3 star hotel with 4 star employees. Had lots of short stays here between trips and had lovely service storing bags and we were even collected from the airport.
Great location a short walk from Plaza de Armas, opposite an Internet cafe and laundry for the essential emails and washing. Breakfast was a fine selection of almost everything you could want.
If you're a couple ask for the room with one big double bed. When I say big I mean big! Other rooms have slightly smaller double beds. See the pics...

I like this hotel very much because it doesn't pretend to be something it isn't. It is a solid three-star hotel - nothing fancy but everything worked. If you want a double bed instead of twins, be sure to make that clear when you make reservations. We are married with different last names and we ended up with twin beds so I think they didn't know what our relationship was and just decided to give us twin beds to be on the safe side. All the staff were very helpful. Checkout is very early - 9:00 a.m. - but we asked for a late checkout since we got to the hotel at 8:30 the night before and they were very accommodating and didn't charge us for staying until 11:00, although we ended up leaving at 9:30. Breakfast was on par with the breakfast at Andean Wings, which is a four-star hotel. We were confused about the coffee because there is Nescafe on the table but they actually did have real coffee in an urn next to it. I guess some people must prefer Nescafe. One thing to be aware of is they don't provide bottled water in the hotel and I didn't see that they sold it in the hotel (although I could be wrong about that) so be sure to have some with you if you check in late when stores are closed.
The best thing about this hotel is the location near the San Blas neighborhood. There is an excellent restaurant and wine bar, Baco, across the street that we had no problem getting into at 9:00 pm on a Thursday night without reservations and the San Blas neighborhood a few blocks away was wonderful and not as touristy as other parts of Cusco. We just loved it. If we return to Cusco we would stay in this neighborhood again, and the Hotel Ruinas could very well be our choice of hotel next time.

Dear Guest. We appreciate your feedback, we are pleased to have felt comfortable in the hotel. We feel sorry for not having given a double bed, you will had applied to your income. Our location is really very good, accessible to many interesting places. Breakfast is varied and natural, and as you say, we make available the nescafe, but in turn also the natural coffee, brought from our valleys. Thanks again, and hope for a next time, best regards and good look.

Posizione centralissima.

I am not normally the dissenting voice, but based on previous good reviews here I am forced in to that position!
Hotel Ruinas is a perfectly acceptable establishment which I think tries to slot itself in to the mid/upper quality bracket. But it just fails to achieve that..
First off, given the fact that one is in Cuzco, surrounded by so much original Inca architecture, this hotel is rather characterless and sterile. Not a problem, just a disappointment!
There is no elevator - so with rooms on the third floor, climbing the stairs on the first day in Cuzco's altitude can be a problem. Be sure to book a low-floor room if you find stairs a problem!
The rooms were well equipped - with the best bed we found anywhere in our month-long travels! But, they were small. There was insufficient space to leave one suitcase (we had two), and so this meant having to literally climb over it when trying to get in/out of bed and to/from the toilet. In short, a perfectly adequate if somewhat 'plastic' building/furnishing.
My main gripe was with the service offered by the management. Waiters/receptionsist/porters were friendly and helpful, but on the two occasions we asked for management's help we were left with a very bad taste.
The first was when asking for a packed lunch to take with us on the following day (yes, about 18 hours in advance). This, apparently, was impossible... Even the Front Desk clerk was embarrased at this. All we wanted was a cheese sandwich an an apple!
The second was when asking permission to remove our room towels to take with us on an impromptu rafting trip. This, again, we were told was strictly forbidden. I offered to leave a deposit - or to have them charge me for full replacement if they were lost/damaged.... but again the answer was no. In the end, after consulting the management, I was told they would rent them to me at a charge of US$4 per day... to cover "washing costs", conveniently overlooking the fact that they would be washing them regardless of whether we 'removed' them or not.
In the end we did what anyone else would have done... we just took them "illegally" and they were none the wiser.
It may seem a silly thing, but the two incidents left a bitter taste which undoubtedly has clouded my opinion. In short, it's a perfectly adequate hotel, but I'm not much impressed with their desire to help their guests. Has customer service not yet made it to Cusco? I'm sure it has, but evidently not to Hotel Ruinas

Older hotel but in good condition. Two double beds in our room and bathroom okay.
Breakfast passable. The good thing about this hotel is it’s location near the central plaza and lots of good restaurants. Airport pickup was included in price.
Also central enough for tour companies to pick up from the hotel which is a major plus when leaving in the dark at 4.30 am for Machu Picchu.
