The Sonesta Hotel Cusco earns high marks for its prime location, praised by many for its proximity to attractions yet quiet setting. Guests are enamored by the hotel's welcoming atmosphere, luxurious lobby, and spotless cleanliness throughout. While reviewers celebrate the extensive breakfast and convenient airport shuttle, some lament the absence of a gym or pool. The rooms, noted for their spaciousness and comfort, unfortunately lack air conditioning, which has been a point of contention for guests seeking a cooler respite. The service is generally acclaimed for its professionalism, though dining experiences sometimes reveal a lack of consistency. Despite minor grievances, the hotel is often regarded as offering good value for the money.

This hotel was part of the tour package lodging and we were to stay there before going onto to our trip to visit Machu Picchu. Unfortunately before going to that hisorical site we were under lock down by the Peruvian Government due to Coronavirus. We were very lucky to be a guest at this hotel. They provided us with a balcony room and brought up chairs and a small table for the balcony. No request was too small and always met with a warm and cheerful smile. The cost of the lodging was very resonable and included a very nice breakfast for two. They hosted a special lunch for under 10 dollars US that included an selection of 4 or more apptizers, a selection of 4 - 5 entrees (Steak, Fish, Chicken, Pork and Vegiterian) and a dessert.

They advised us when we had to go out for pharamcy, bank or market as to what to bring and wear (masks & gloves) and a hand basket. They did their best to make us comfortable.

We would definately request to go back there if we again visit Cusco.

This hotel is in a good location, a short walk from the bus station and the main square. The staff were friendly and helpful, in particular the lady at the information desk. She gave us a lot of useful information and advice and organised a trip to Rainbow Mountain for us. We had one meal in the hotel restaurant which was quite good.

The noise in this hotel was an issue for us. Very music plays in the restaurant/bar all day and night and this noise can be heard in the bedrooms. It was impossible to get a good nights sleep. As all the tours from Cusco start very early in the morning - approx. 4am, this was really disruptive and disappointing. One night we asked for the music to be turned down and in a short time it was turned down. The following evening we asked at reception and explained that the music was very loud and keeping us awake. The music wasnā€™t turned down. We phoned the reception desk and asked again if the music could be turned down and it wasnā€™t turned down. I would expect more from the hotel when they know that a lot of the guests are up early for tours.

Dear Companion03090273967, I am pleased to know that you enjoyed the hotel facilities and that our location was beneficial to you, as I could appreciate that we are in a central and safe area in the heart of Cusco. On the other hand, I sincerely regret the inconvenience with the noise coming from our restaurant that you tell us about and the discomfort that this may have caused you. We will be reviewing and taking the corresponding measures to avoid similar incidents in the future. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again and provide you with a refreshing experience. Cordially, Gustavo Parada Manager

A very nice clean hotel located a short walk from the main square. Breakfast was good with a nice variety of fruits and breads and fresh cooked eggs. The rooms were spacious and clean but fairly simple. The staff was friendly.

Beds were comfy. Restaurant had good food. Breakfast buffet was tasty with wide variety.
No complimentary water in rooms, which is kind of unusual, but especially so in a high altitude city where you're supposed to drink more water.
Check in was slow. As at every hotel in Peru, each individual guest needs to fill out a registration for. They explained the form to each person individually, which I'm sure was intended to be more personal service, but it just slowed the whole process down.
There's a very small Grab and Go on site, but no one was every there so you had to track down someone to take your money. Getting change was a challenge also.
Check out was similar, not the right change for when we paid for the things we charged to our room. The change was only one sols so we said to keep it.
Just seemed odd that paying with cash in the local currency presented such a challenge.

A very nice hotel in the bottom end of the busy Avenida del Sol. 15 minutes walking distance to Plaza de Armas. The rooms are nice size with three full size beds. Comfortable pillows and mattresses and thick towels! Our room was facing the avenue and we had a small balcony, nice for people watching but a bit noisy in the evening and early morning. Nothing that a pair of earplugs could not fix! Thick privacy curtains, mini safe and mini fridge, Nespresso coffee machine, tea bags and free bottles of water every day. The bathroom is spacious and the water pressure amole with hot water. Closet with wood hangers. The lobby has free computers, consierge, 24 hour front desk and a grab-and-go shop with snacks and sandwiches. Good, free, wifi throughout the hotel. The breakfast was amazing and the dinner was very good as well. Room service available until 10pm(Best club sandwich I have ever had). Wert accommodating staff in a stylish and comfortable setting. A great place to stay when in Cusco!

Very good breakfast! It is more like a brunch every day. Rooms are nice and clean. Front desk ladies are helpful and kind, especially Elida. Magali, the girl wearing the traditional clothing, is very cheerful and always ready to help.
The service at the restaurant is good and the food delicious. Having a musician playing quena and sampoƱa is a very nice touch.
It takes about 10 min walking up hill to get to Plaza de Armas. The first day is better to take a taxi to get there, explore and go back walking to the hotel, otherwise you will get hit by altitude sickness(we did the opposite, what a mistake).

The most destable thing is the excellent service that ALL the staff provides, starts with the greeting by your last name. All our requirements were met very kindly and promptly.
It is located less than 1 km from the historic center, on the main avenue of the city, in a very safe area. It is one of the most traditional hotels in Cusco, which has been complemented remodeled, the rooms and all facilities look impeccable and with very good maintenance and cleaning. The inhabitants are quite comfortable, with new bathrooms, and counts all the amenities for a hotel in its category (4 stars)
The included buffet breakfast offers many great quality options, including typical foods and options for celiacs and vegans. The restaurant is also of excellent quality, with very good options for lunch, dinner and room service.
It has a good free internet service throughout the hotel, and services selling snacks, textiles, tour guide and jewelry.

The reception is attentive and friendly, the rooms are tidied every day with treats and bottled water. The breakfast is excellent and starts to be served at 3:00 am. This is a very good advantage as many tours start early in the morning.
The location in the city center is great as it is close to the main attractions.

The hotel is very good. Breakfast with options for all tastes, very varied, including gluten free options, with extended hours from 5 to 10 am. The restaurant is also excellent for lunch and dinner, the price is compatible with others in the city and the food is very tasty, I'm vegetarian and there were good options for me. All the staff are extremely polite and helpful, especially Marianela. Our room was on the 6th floor, very spacious, with a large bathtub, good shower, comfortable mattress and quality bedding. My only suggestion is that you replace the carpet with another floor that causes less allergies. They stored our bags when we went to visit Machu Pichu and slept in Aguas Calientes. They also took us to the airport free of charge. The hotel is 1 km from the Plaza de Armas, it's a small walk, but if you want to go by taxi it costs 6 to 10 soles.

This is slightly below what I would expect for a 3 star hotel and certainly not what I would expect from a four star hotel.

The facility is nice and clean. Both rooms I had when I stayed before and after a hiking expectation were large and well equipped. They were not air conditioned even though I got the highest quality room I could reserve on the executive floor. Breakfast was included and they have a very nice breakfast buffet. They also offer an airport shuttle which you can arrange for pick up on arrival and departure.

But there were a lot of misses in the hotel that I wouldn't expect from even an average hotel. For example, the breakfast staff is very complacent. The dinner staff is okay but very dependent on who is waiting on you. One night my server was excellent. Another night my server must have left and my service literally stopped. I even had a hard time getting my bill because the other wait staff didn't want to help if your not their customer. On top of that, you pay a non-optional 18% service fee which I'm okay with if there is good service. The rooms are not air conditioned and it's very difficult to get the rooms to cool off below 75 at night even when the outside temperature is in the 50's. That seems poor for a 4 star hotel. They charge for refilling coffee in the room beyond a few packets they provide. It's a small thing but they provide an expresso machine but only 2 packets of coffee and then you have to buy more if you stay longer for about $2 a piece. Small item but annoying.

Maybe this is above average for Cusco and I'm nit picking too much. People reading the review can decide and ignore if I am. But in other areas of South America that I've stayed, similar priced hotels with similar star ratings were much better.
