This hotel is located at the political center of the Inca Empire, Cusco’s Huacaypata (currently its Plaza de Armas), which five hundred years ago hosted the main palaces of the Sapa Incas (Inca kings). More specifically, our hotel is in the area of the former Accllahuasi, a palace that hosted a class of elite women who carried out a series of tasks for the state such as goldsmithing and elaborating textiles. A few of its finest Inca walls are still standing, and you can appreciate them in our reception area, as well as in three of our rooms. The Plaza de Armas area is still the main center of Cusco and from here you will be few blocks away from the main tourist sites and commercial centers.
Star ratings are intended to indicate the general level of features, amenities, and services to expect. This property is classified according to Giata.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
For the proposal of a 3-star hotel the hotel met our expectations. Quick check-in and check-out. Location note 10 in front of weapons square. Very comfortable accommodation, bed and pillows great, low level of external noise and excellent cleaning. The room has an electric kettle, teas and cups for you to use, being Cusco a cold city at night, and after a tiring walk by the evil of altitude (low oxygen), a tea is perfect, and helps in a good night's sleep. The entrance to the hotel is the same as Starbucks, which is a differential for you to make (pick) a snack and have a coffee. The hotel breakfast is simple, but with a good variety of options. If you are going out in the morning for a walk, you can ask at the reception to leave your "breakfast kit", this is note 10. The staff were very helpful and attentive, always welcoming us with education and attention. The upper floor rooms are slightly larger and look more ventilated. Overall we liked everything we expected from this hotel category. A detail to point out was the bath, as the shower was difficult to adjust the temperature and the glass box was 1/3 of the bathtub, which after each bath wet the surrounding box. Another detail that bothered a little was the heating device, extremely noisy when in operation. As we used few times and for a short time was not inconvenient when sleeping. Certainly if we return to Cusco will be our option again.

We booked Katari at Plaza de Armas because it’s the perfect location to catch the Inti Raymi festival that takes place annually on June 24. Our flight got delayed and we arrived early morning of the 24th instead of the planned 23rd but the team still arranged our airport pickup, allowed us to use the room to take a shower and have breakfast. Nohely and the rest of the staff at Katari were really kind and helpful and made our first day in Cusco warm and memorable!

Excellent hotel! Perfect location! Could not be better. The hotel is next to the Jesuit Church (one of the main churches in the Plaza de Armas), close to several restaurants, tourist attractions and museums. The reception staff is wonderful, polite and kind to all requests. Any request was promptly met. I just have to thank you for being so helpful during our 7-day stay. The room we stayed in perfectly met our expectations. Clean, fragrant, organized room. Excellent bedding, heater, smart TV, and kettle with several tea options. We had no problems with noise, the hotel was very quiet. Outstanding cleaning team, they left our belongings organized and the room clean every day. They changed towels daily. Excellent breakfast. Every day we had local fruits, yogurts, juices, coffees, teas, breads, ham, cheeses, cake, etc. available. In addition, the employees delivered a menu with some options that were prepared to order, such as omelets, scrambled eggs, eggs with bacon, among others. Everything was served quickly and very hot. One suggestion is to leave a menu on each breakfast table, this way it will be easier for us to choose. For days when we miss breakfast due to sightseeing, the hotel offers a take-away snack, which can be requested the night before. This snack comes with a ham and cheese sandwich, fruit, juice and water. I would like to highlight here my gratitude to Isabel and Maribel (breakfast team) who were very helpful and kind with all our requests. Thank you very much! Thank you to the entire Katari team, you helped to make our trip excellent.

Don’t be fooled by the location. Although it’s in a great spot, the hotel itself is AWFUL. We arrived to our room with stains on the carpet, mold/mildew in the shower, the toilet making noise. The walls are paper thin and people coming and going through out the night making noise. The internet wouldn’t work in the room and the manager at the front desk said that it was our phones not working, not his internet, even though all 4 of us didn’t have any connection in either room. We only stayed the night and left immediately in the morning for another hotel. BE AWARE

The best thing is the location, almost next to the main square, We must also highlight the kindness of the staff (thanks to Nohely, Maribel, Rosita and Bryan). It is quite comfortable and the breakfast offers some local dishes (eg tamale). It is important to mention that if you suffer from a disability, you should contact the hotel first to verify your room because most bathrooms have relatively large tubs, which can be an inconvenience for elderly people or people with motor disabilities to enter to shower. Highly recommended option.

Perfect hotel for our family! Awesome staff, delicious food, excellent customer service, and a perfect location (Next to the main plaza, shops, restaurants and more) I couldn’t be more happy with my experience at Katari. They were always kind, helpful and polite to all our requests and questions. Having my family of 5 with 3 kids, one a baby 18 months old. My experience was awesome Marilia helped me to accommodate everything for my baby (such as the crib with clean sheets and covers) and also she helped me with all accommodation for my other two kids. I’m very happy with my stay there. We made such great memories in Cusco because we were very comfortable and safe. Thank you so much to Marilia we really appreciate all your help. I highly recommend this hotel. Trust me you won’t regret it.

Good location but most importantly, Nohely, Maribel and Percy are so helpful and made our short stay really comfortable. And they even arranged the taxi and kept our bags overnight when we check-out. And they respond to our messages and emails really fast when we informed them that our flights got delayed.

I stayed at Katari Plaza de Armas for several days. The location is suggestive, in the ancient Inca street Intikijllu, today Calle Loreto. The current building was built at the time of the conquest on the ancient Aqllawasi site. The stay was perfect, I would return here with my eyes closed. A special note of thanks to all the staff: Marilia, Daniel, Maribel, Jennifer, Erwin. Professional and very kind, they are the added asset of this historic hotel. Tupananchiskama!

Very comfortable place and excellent location. The common spaces are very well decorated and always clean and tidy.
Highlight the reception staff (nohely), kitchen (Maribel) and cleaning (rosita). If I return I would stay in the same place.
