Detailed Reviews
The JW is ideally located in the heart of Cusco, so we had a lot of fun exploring the city having a base close by!
The staff was super helpful - when the air conditioning was malfunctioning in our room, they immediately moved us to another one. They also arranged our transfer to the airport with a stop at Sacsayhuaman - our driver was so sweet.
The restaurant has absolutely AMAZING food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Their buffet spread is seriously impressive and, with my dad being vegetarian, the chef even washed the pan before making his omelet! Their chicken wings are absolutely to die for, as is their fried rice and lomo saltado. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!
There were also lovely ladies with a little alpaca everyday at breakfast! They were SO friendly and sweet, and the little alpaca was a total cutie.
The only negative is that there is poor ventilation in the bathroom - when someone is using it, you can definitely smell it in the main room, which can be embarrassing. Also, do NOT turn on the sink if someone is in the shower. My mom nearly burned me alive lol.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying here to any friends/family traveling to Peru. Hope to visit again soon!

This hotel has a lot of history to it and it looks amazing from the inside and the rooms are very clean and modern. The staff and very welcoming and the staff by the road always great me when I arrive from being out all day. The hotel is located very close to the main square but no too close where you hear all the noise, couldn’t have picked a better spot. If you have the money then pay to stay at this hotel because you won’t need to take a taxi anywhere except for the ancient sites up the mountain.

We are Lifetime Platinum Marriott members so we have experienced many Marriott hotels. The JW El Convento Cusco was overall the BEST Marriott hotel we have stayed at. I was very pleased with the communication the hotel made prior to our stay, assuring everything was in order. When we arrived we were a bit overwhelmed from our red eye flight and the experience at Cusco airport. Stepping into the hotel was like an Oasis. It is gorgeous in its own unique way that truly felt as if you are stepping back in time in Cusco. The lobby is stunning as is the courtyard. I wish I had written down the names of the employees that we interacted with, I feel bad that I did not. Everyone from the gentleman who checked us in, to the bellman, 3 different bar tenders that we had in the restaurant were all fantastic! We enjoyed good conversation with them and the drinks were amazing! They even made us our own cocktails just asking what we liked. Mine was spot on something I wish I could always drink! Normally we do not eat I’m hotel restaurants but we were exhausted. We were so glad we did, the food is excellent! We ended up eating at the bar 3 times during our stay because we enjoyed dot so much! The empanadas, ceviche and anticuchos were our favorite. The buffet breakfast that is included is exceptional! Presentation, freshness and the offerings were like nothing we have experienced in a buffet before and all so beautiful. The first morning I was feeling the altitude and our waitress Daysi inquired how we felt. After I told her she went to the courtyard and picked a mixture of herbs to make a special tea that her mother would make. It did the trick and the gesture of kindness and her concern was very heartwarming to me. Our room was so comfortable and the proximity of the hotel is perfect. The JW Convento Cusco is a very special place in every aspect. We are so thankful that we chose to stay there. As we walked out the morning we left I truly had a sense of sadness to leave such a truly magical place. Thank you for making our trip to Cusco, so memorable!

We had a fully paid booking through eDreams to Cusco Marriott for 2 nights with breakfasts. During our arrival the receptionist demanded from us 84 USD more, explaining that this payment is required obligatory from all tourists. Otherwise she will leave us without breakfasts. For that money we got useless discount vouchers for not needed alcoholic drinks and the right for 25 USD discount from spa services which we are not going to use because of lack of time.

I am very impressed with this Marriott location! We have stayed at other Marriott before but this is the best one by far. From the moment we got here, we were greeted properly and through out the whole stay, the staff was helpful and very polite. They acknowledged that we didn’t feel well at check in due to altitude sickness, and offered us different things like Oxygen , coca tea, even if we need a medical doc they got them. The attention to details is beyond great. We were greeted by name in and out of the hotel by the bellboy and offered umbrellas on the way out for our walk.
They also offer many Complimentary programs for guests like baby alpaca meet and greet, cooking classes, market walk, historical tour, free drink per adult at the bar, etc . The free breakfast was super nice! So many options and beautiful presentations! We avoided eating fruits during our whole trip until we got here and actually felt safe to consume the hotel fruits.
Whatever you ask for, the staff would help to make sure everything is smooth and good. The IT manager even came and fixed my WiFi connection on my iPhone. (I was having problem connecting on one of my devices. )
This is no doubt a FIVE stars experience.! The main plaza is 5 mins walk. We will definitely stay again at this location when we are in town

We took our honeymoon to Peru in January 2020. Cusco was our last stop, and we could not have had a better ending. By this time we had been traveling for 3 weeks. We were tired, I was sick, and we needed somewhere to recharge before tackling Machu Picchu then heading home. Not only was this hotel stunning and pristine, but it felt like home from the moment we arrived. The staff was incredibly attentive and observant - they even knew that I hadn't changed my name yet and called me by my last name and my husband by his every time. They remembered what we were doing each day and made a point of asking us how our adventures were. I work in a hotel and never have I experienced such genuine and detailed hospitality.
The breakfast was spectacular as was the pisco class. We also went to the spa, which was very nice. I loved that the massage room had a shower attached - it really adds a touch of luxury not to have to retreat to the locker room to shower.
A special word of gratitude goes to Oscar the bellhop. He went above and beyond for us daily, and really made us feel like he cared about us. He is amazing at what he does.

Loved staying here - we tried both Marriott properties in Cusco, and preferred the JW over the Palacio del Inka. Location is perfect, rooms are beautifully appointed and we appreciated the extra oxygen they pump in to help us get acclimated to the altitude. The hotel offers daily activities - tour of the property and a resident baby alpaca which we thought made the resort fee worth it. Staff is friendly and very professional - were very helpful in fulfilling all our requests .

WOW, I don't even know where to start. I've traveled a lot and this hotel is top notch. From the check in to check out, it was an amazing experience. The hotel is well appointed and provides the guests with complimentary offerings (hotel tour, cooking class, pisco sour class etc.) You will never be bored staying here and I encourage you to take advantage of all that it offers. Everyone is willing to help and they will meet all of your needs - just ask. We needed to switch rooms 2 nights into our stay and also needed some medical attention, they were super attentive to both requests and accommodated us. Additionally, the hotel is in a central location in Cusco which is good for site seeing. I can't wait to go back.

We stayed here as a base for a regional visit including Machu Pichu and local tours. The staff from the bellman to the front desk, bar and restaurant as well as the room and maintenance folks couldn’t have been more welcoming and pleasant. We had a minor medical issue due to altitude and there is a highly qualified medical technician on staff.
The food was excellent, the room comfortable and the setting is very romantic and historic. It is a classical Spanish period setting with a beautiful courtyard and great architectural details. Cusco is a very historically significant city and the tour desk at the hotel was extremely helpful. It is called Venturia and they too went out of their way to assure that all went smoothly.
Quality and polish along with super friendly customer service were the trademarks of the entire operation.
Special thanks to Fernando - the manager, Nick - Best guide in Peru, Dania, Samanta and Rosario with Venturia and the entire wait staff in ‘Q’.

+1
I just finished a six night stay at JW Marriott. It’s located about two blocks from Plaza de Armas which was great location. All the staff provided excellent customer service and were so friendly. The front desk, the cleaning staff, restaurant and bartending employees, the spa employees all deserve praise. My favorite person however was Kely. She is the care taker of Panchita the Alpaca. She takes wonderful care of Panchita and is very nice to talk to. Even when some children weren’t being supervised and would poke and annoy Panchita, Kely was so patient. I had to hold myself back from letting the parents and bad unsupervised children have it. That being said, each day I made sure to say hello to Kely and to Panchita.
How was the room?
The room I stayed in was spacious. The bed was comfortable. And the shower pressure was perfect. No problems with the room. It’s also nice that water bottles are provided for guests. For those that don’t know, it’s important to stay hydrated at the elevation Cusco is. First night for most is the worst.
Food and drinks?
One nice feature is that JW Marriott has a Ceviche class and Pisco Sour class for those who wish to learn how to make those two items. Very informative and fun.
The breakfast is ok. I think it could improve. Options are limited and quality wise it was only ok. For example, some days the waffles would be rock hard and/or the scrambled eggs looked like soup. Try the mixed juice, tastes like flavored water. Not great but breakfast was like I said, O.K.
Biggest gripe?
My biggest gripe is the fact that I booked for 7 nights. But due to my airlines moving my return flight up one day, I notified JW Marriott over a week in advance that I would like to cancel the last day of my stay at the hotel. But I was denied reimbursement. So I paid for 7 nights even though I stayed only 6 nights. They could have easily fixed that but chose not to.
Overall JW Marriott is a nice hotel. A lot of good reasons to stay there. Is it perfect? No. But still a great stay overall.
