Detailed Reviews
We booked two rooms for almost a week. The fireplace room was great and they had a Monopoly game in the cozy fireplace room. The staff, Anggela, Lizd, and Omar are friendly and just delightful! The reason for one star off is that we asked after the first breakfast if they could have soy milk with breakfast and were told we could go and buy it ourselves at the market and keep it in the kitchen. It seemed like such a little thing they could have done that would have shown incredible customer service and given us that "wow" factor especially given we were paying for two rooms for almost a week, we weren't eating the eggs, meat, or cheese at the breakfast and we missed two breakfasts from early pick ups so it definitely wouldn't have cost them extra. It's considered normal in most hotels to offer plant milks. The other thing I'd mention, is that the hotel charges $3 per kilo for laundry, but just down the street, you can get it for 3 soles per kilo which is a huge difference. Finally, just be careful with the towels. We had some food stains on a hand towel that they wanted to charge us $8 for which we've never, in all our years of travel, had happen. We went to the farmacy and for 50cents, bought some bleach and cleaned it ourselves, super weird. Other than that, we loved the staff, it's a charming hotel, and centrally located. Just hoping someone will see this and they will start to offer sustainable plant milks for their conscientious customers.

Dear Guest: We are pleased to know that you had a generally positive stay with us. Thank you for your feedback regarding our hotel and, in particular, your point about plant-based milks. Please know that we will now be offering soy milk as part of our standard breakfast menu. Furthermore, we regret any misunderstanding about the hand towel in mention,as the replacement price quoted was in case the towel was irreversibly damaged. We are glad you found a simple solution and regret any confusion. Best wishes for your next adventure! Sincerely, Tony Figueroa, Co-Owner

My wife and I had two stays at Andenes al Cielo during March. We spend five days exploring Cusco in our first visit. The staff is great, the accommodations are lovely, and the location is perfect. We didn’t find how perfectly hospitable the Hotel is until our second visit. We and our two friends were caught in the quarantine and came back to the hotel for two weeks until we were repatriated. Although the four of us were the only people in the hotel, there was never a cutback in staff. They were there for us. It started with extra care to protect everyone from COVID, including regular disinfecting. They gave us the Owner’s penthouse apartment, because it had a kitchen and they only served breakfast. It became ‘team quarantine’s’ clubhouse, and made our stay so much better. We couldn’t leave the hotel, so the staff did our shopping every day. The courtyard is lovely, and especially useful for morning yoga- often with the staff. One of the staff were introduced us to Cumbia music and led dance aerobics in the afternoon. The care they took for our wellbeing and comfort was beyond anything in my experience.
We’ll be back to enjoy Andenes al Ceilo, Cusco and complete our Peru experience.

We had booked only one night prior to beginning a Machu Picchu trek. Little did we know we would spend 14 days in lockdown at the hotel. After being evacuated from the mountains we were utterly grateful to be welcomed back to Andenes al Cielo by the warm and wonderful staff. They kept the hotel open just to accommodate us and treated us like family. They made an otherwise stressful situation extremely comfortable and they took terrific care of us—even procured our groceries and offered the use of a beautifully appointed room with a kitchen so we could cook. I can't praise enough the entire staff—my gratitude goes out to Javier, Maria, Angela, Liz, Elvira, Patricia, and Omar.
Putting our unusual circumstances aside, I do want to emphasize that the hotel is a GEM. It's intimate, immaculate and has a lovely courtyard and a roofdeck with a stunning view day and night. The rooms are simple, yet have all you need. The location is in the heart of everything but on a quieter street.
We are SOOOOOO eager to stay again, see our Peruvian friends, eat some quinoa pancakes and ask Liz to teach us a few more Cumbia dance steps! Thank you, thank you to all at Andenes!

Overall this is a beautiful property, but I did want to highlight an issue that happened when our group stayed here. We stayed here both before and after our trip to Machu Picchu and both times we had trouble with heat and hot water. Multiple rooms in our group reported problems keeping their rooms warm at night, and many member of our group reported absolutely no hot water when they attempted to shower early in the morning before our departures (we left between 4am-5am on multiple days). I personally could never figure out how to get the heat in the room to come on during one day I spent sick in the room.
This was reported to us through our guide as being the result of the hotel turning off the gas to the heaters during the nights and parts of the day, but I can't verify that this was true.
Others we encountered in the hotel said they had never experienced this problem before. Based on the other reviews I have to believe this wasn't a standard practice, but it definitely detracted from an otherwise lovely location.

Dear Guest: We are glad you generally had a pleasant stay with us and enjoyed our setting. When we reached out to our operations manager about your heat/hot water systems concerns we learned that during your stay one of our water heaters was unfortunately malfunctioning. Although that was explained to you by our staff it saddens us that you still felt it necessary to review us so negatively on this point. Furthermore, your group was offered and given electric space heaters to increase your comfort while the heating system was awaiting repair. We regret your stay was not more satisfactory and hope you understand that sometimes mechanical failure happens despite regular preventative maintenance. Thank you for your review and please know that we will continue to make every effort to ensure our guests have the best possible experience. Sincerely, Tony Figueroa, Co-Owner

We spent a week in Cusco at the XO Arthouse to acclimate before our trek to Machu Picchu. The other couple who came on the trip with us stayed down the street at the Andenes. Mountain Lodges of Peru runs both hotels and Giovanny and the rest of the staff made sure our stays were perfect. MLP provided a great experience both in Cusco and on the trek as well. Kudos to Javier, our experienced guide, for all his help on the trek itself. MLP simply does an awesome job.

I truly enjoyed my stay at Andenes Hotel by Mountain Lodges of Perú. My friends and I chose to stay there to acclimate to the altitude in Cusco and in preparation for our Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu. The hotel staff was very helpful especially Giovanny the evening concierge, who gave great advice and recommendations for places to eat for dinner, shop, options for ATMs for Soles, and in my case a tech shop for my camera. The rooms I had were exactly what I needed where the beds were very comfortable and the showers were hot! The rooftop view was a pleasant surprise and the breakfasts hit the spot! I also appreciated the security that the hotel provided with a beautiful iron gate where all guests are buzzed in. Highly recommend!

This is an exceptional small, charming, tranquil lodge located perfectly between Centro Square and San Blas. All of the staff are warm, gracious, kind and most helpful. Giovanny took extra good care of me making sure I had everything I needed at any moment and treated me like family. The rooms are lovely. It felt like a home, not a hotel.

On arriving in Cusco we immediately transferred to the valley Urubamba to acclimate to the altitude and returned to Cusco 1 week later after exploring the valley & Machu Picchu. Very pleased we did it in this order as we enjoyed our days in Cusco more. The altitude here can be a shock to the system arriving from sea level for most travelers !
A trip to Peru is not complete without at least one stay in a Colonial Mansion and this one ticked all the boxes.
1- The staff here are very welcoming, helpful and went out of their way to help us in arranging bus transfers and accommodation at Lake Titicaca.
2- We had a basic Double room interior overlooking courtyard for 2 nights. What it lacked in luxury features it made up for in character. Room was spacious beds comfortable and heater worked well as it was cold here at night. Bathroom had plenty of hot water and good pressure.
3- The hotel has been beautifully restored and is very charming. It was lovely sitting by the fireplace opposite the lobby having a cup of tea. The roof top small viewing balcony was nice offering a nice view of the city and a quiet place to sit. Breakfast was very good.
4-At the time we were staying there were only a handful of people so it was very quiet but the noise does tend the echo around these older buildings not that it disturbed us too much. I recommend an interior courtyard facing room as I'm sure it's rather noisy facing the street.
5- For the price the location doesn't get much better just a short walk to Plaza de Armas and quaint streets. I did feel that 2 days was enough in Cusco though and we were keen to move on.
6- We used the laundry service offered by the hotel. We did have a small hiccup where we received someone else's laundry in error but this was quickly resolved.
The price for laundry here is good and the clothes were washed and folded nicely.
I recommend writing a copy of your items sent for your own reference in case of a mix up.
I would without hesitation highly recommend this hotel for its character and great location and wonderful staff.

At the beginning booking a hotel that I have never been or heard of was very difficult to make a choice and decision. I am a super picky type of person and I was so surprised to say that I really enjoy and like my stay at this hotel. I will definitely recommend it to my friends and anyone who is interesting in visiting Cusco. Great location. great bed, super clean and neat. The only thing if your bedroom is located at the front you might need to bring ear plugs, the walls are not well insulated. Very good breakfast, people at the front desk very nice and polite, super helpful. I really think this is an amazing place and if I return to Cusco I will definitely go back to this place again. I want to thank each one at the hotel that made my stay so pleasant!
