I loved this hotel and would return without hesitation. Its location is outstanding: right in the center of the old city. Security is good, and the staff give great advice on where to go and how to stay safe. They are so attentive and kind. The room was nice and clean. And the Breakfast is tasty, with an amazing view the Virgin of El Panecillo.
From the moment I sent an initial inquiry to Casa Montero, I knew my daughter (13) and I would be taken care of at this lovely small hotel. Alejandro, the manager, always meets us with a smile on his face and a warm greeting. He is extremely helpful and knowledgeable about everything concerning Quito. He had a taxi pick us up at the airport ($30 USD) and take us to the hotel, which was lovely after a long flight. The rooms are large and well decorated, with comfortable beds and a warm shower. The breakfasts are sufficient and quite filling -- eggs, toast, coffee/cocoa, juice. I definitely would return to this gem of a hotel.
A beautiful hidden gem on Santo Domingo Square. The inside is lovely, rooms clean and nice. Great shower! The breakfast room is overlooking towards the Virgin Mary Mirador. Breakfast was great and included in the cost. There is an upper level terrace to view the city at night. Filtered water is free in the lobby. I always travel with an electric kettle so had tea at night and in the morning. A short walk to the Presidential Place and square. The desk manager was helpful and had a great sense of humor. Will stay again next time in Quito
Quito was my first stop in Ecuador. It is also the first stop on my way around the world looking for a place to retire to. Alexander Moreno is a wonderful man and keeps his hotel clean and is always working to improve it. He was very helpful in telling me which areas were fun and safe and which weren't. I greatly appreciated it. He did it in an authentic way because he wasn't pushing certain restaurants or museums. He was just showing me ways to enjoy Quito without getting myself in trouble. The rooms are good size, clean and updated. There is a security door at the front entrance. The neighborhood was a little rough but access to downtown Old Town Quito was an easy walk of several blocks. Well, easy if your used to altitude and hills which is Quito. Altitude of 2,800 ft is not easy to get used to after living at sea level for the majority of my life. Casa Moreno offers a free breakfast and free agua. Agua is important at this altitude which includes several stops to catch your breath when climbing the hilly streets. Good food was easy to find in Quito.…
Caveat: my traveling companions did not agree but they had their inside windows open. Best sheets as well. Excellent location and breakfast was very good. We spent our last two nights here and would return were we to be in Quito again. Within walking distance of La Ronda and the Plaza Grande.
