#13 of 187 hotels in Quito
The Hotel Plaza Grande rises above Quito's central square, known as the Plaza de la Independencia. It was one of the first hotels ever constructed in the capital, and has been extensively renovated and remodeled to become the finest boutique hotel in the city. It is the ideal place from which to explore the wonders of this timeless city. Quito was declared a UNESCO "World Heritage Site" in 1978, thanks to its historic center, which is the largest and best preserved in Latin America. The colonial center of the Franciscan city of Quito is a treasure trove of baroque art and architecture, including buildings, churches, monasteries and narrow streets that reflect Ecuador's unique blend of indigenous and Spanish cultures.

Old town hotel that does not miss a thing. Welcoming staff, always wanting to help. Sparkling clean and well appointed room. Old city charm with all the modern amenities. Bed is a little too firm for my liking but linens are high quality, in room HVAC works flawlessly, lots of small touches make this a great hotel.

We recently stayed at the Hotel Plaza Grande while visiting Quito on a South American adventure. We were looking for a centrally located hotel where we could walk to shops, restaurants and site seeing destinations. Hotel Plaza Grande had a fabulous location in the old section of the city, right on the main plaza which gave us walking access to many shops, restaurants, bars and cathedrals. The rooms were large and well appointed, beds were very comfortable, staff was attentive and friendly, and the restaurant was solid, if unspectacular. Price is decent given all that you get, but I would not say it was an incredible value as there are other more boutique hotels on or near the square that are a better value. Only issue was a strong police presence on weekends due to all of the street vendors, who made their presence known day and night by yelling out what they had for sale constantly. While this was only a minor disturbance, it did get annoying after a couple of days. They did not harass you while you walked, and were good about it when you said no, but nonetheless they were everywhere and there all the time. The police on weekends were in force to keep them moving along and allow only the licensed vendors to sell their goods.

Our group of four adults recently stayed for two nights at the Hotel Plaza Grande and enjoyed a wonderful stay. The hotel is located in the heart of the Old Town immediately adjacent to the main square and lots of local shops and gardens. It is my understanding that the hotel recently opened after a long shutdown due to Covid. As such, there may have been some operational issues but they certainly didn’t affect our stay. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They accommodated every request including laundry service following our visit into the Amazon. The food in the restaurant was very good. The rooms were very spacious and clean. We stayed on the 3rd floor with a room overlooking the main square. One issue that I had was with the local street vendors yelling incessantly to sell their goods into the early evening. Other than that our stay was very pleasant and I would definitely recommend a stay at the Plaza Grande Hotel during your visit to Quito. Enjoy and safe travels!

We spent one night is this amazing beautiful hotel. The entire hotel is first class and so is the staff. We were allowed to stay the entire day at the hotel until we were picked up at 7pm for our 11:30pm departure back to the USA. The staff was so helpful, the food was amazing, and our room was so wonderful. The hotel staff were so gracious to us and truly helped make our last day in Quito very special. We can't thank them enough.
