I can only echo the sentiments of the many previous reviewers. Mario and Blanca are the best! This hotel is really a bed and breakfast. You are invited into Mario and Blanca’s home, and truly treated as a special guest. Our stay started when we arrived at the airport, tired and jet lagged. We were picked up by an excellent driver arranged by Mario, Pablo, who was there with a sign and a cheery greeting. He transported us several times. Always safe, knowledgeable about Quito, friendly, and helpful. The hotel itself is centrally located. Beautifully restored. Impeccably clean and very comfortable! Breakfasts are delicious. Mario made every effort to work with our crazy schedule. He also made great dinner recommendations, and tucked us into a taxi to get us there. I wouldn’t stay anyplace else!…
Mario and Blanca - the hosts of this beautiful hotel - were wonderful! The hotel itself and the room we stayed in were superb. Great location, close to everything in Old Town. Would love to go back and stay here again, as it was like a home away from home.
We loved our stay at Casa El Eden- you will too. Mario and Blanca are the Quito family we never knew we had. The hotel is beautiful, impeccably maintained and perfectly located in the historic center. The most wonderful part of the stay however are Mario and Blanca themselves. Mario was so helpful with restaurant reservations/suggestions (we should have listened to you about Somas), sights, airport transport, taxis, he even arranged for Covid tests at the hotel for us the morning we departed. Breakfast was delicious and there was always a cup of hot tea/coffee when we returned in the afternoon. Ask Mario the story of renovating this historic manor- the pictures will blow you away! Mario and Blanca, thank you for your kindness and hospitality. Jerry and I will be back!
The hotel was beautifully renovated and is gorgeous from top to bottom. You get a real old world Quito feel from staying there that the newer hotels in the North District just don’t offer. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. They even have ponchos in the closet that guests can borrow for chilly nights. The water pressure is exceptional and I took the best shower of my life there after a long day in the rain forest. Breakfast isn’t fancy and they could add a few more options but the fruit is fresh and delicious. Mario and Blanca will treat you family during your stay and are the loveliest people! I would suggest getting some board games for the inn that can be played in the evenings. I would definitely stay her again! The location is extremely convenient for everything in Historic Quito with all of the sights just a few blocks in either direction.…
As previous reviewers have stated, Mario and Blanca welcome you into their (magnificent) home and expect you to treat it as your own home. The property is a meticulously restored mansion with a central atrium/covered courtyard that is filled with light. The restored frescos, woodwork, and other details are a meticulous work of love that Mario can show you pictures of the process. There are multiple common areas and nooks tastefully decorated and accessorized with alpaca capes, blankets, fireplaces, and books. The family is rightfully proud of what they've created; it's a beautiful restoration and I'm grateful they share it with us visitors. The rooftop patio is a peaceful respite from the city below, definitely worth a hang. The room was clean, high-ceilinged, nicely equipped with a full hair dryer and stylish shower. Our suite was very large. Wifi was blazing fast. Also more alpaca shawls. There was twice daily service on the rooms. Breakfast was delicious: fruit, fresh eggs like I could never cook, fresh bread, jam and tea. They awoke early and made breakfast for us prior to our 5am airport taxi. Hospitality at Casa El Eden was unmatched in all my travels. Mario provided better service than I've received at five star hotels in Milan, Venice, Vienna, etc. The traffic is quite difficult in this area, so as we were running late to a dinner reservation due to our uber being stuck, Mario called the *chef* himself at the restaurant we were headed to and asked to hold the table. Incredible. If you're ever had a fever dream of refurbishing an old mansion into a warm, welcoming hotel, you should check out Casa El Eden for inspiration. On my part, I've spent a lot of time in chain hotels and this is really a catalyst for me to seek out more family owned properties. I had such a wonderful but too short time here. I cannot recommend this hotel more highly for anyone staying in Quito.…
