I cannot say enough good things about this hotel! While I tried to use some suite rewards to host that could not be honored, we were still given an incredible room with a balcony and the manager Jhoselin was so kind and welcoming. In fact, everyone at this hotel was eager to help us. I am honestly looking forward to staying at this hotel if I find myself in Quito again.
Great spot to decompress and regroup before or after you hit “real Ecuador”. Staff were consistently polite and helpful. Breakfast was fantastic- even the a la Carte was a very reasonable price (I was using “free nights”). Nothing remotely authentic about the place - but that’s kind of what were expecting. Just comfort. I would stay again after a few weeks of mountain lodges or refuges ar 5,000m!
Nice location close to shopping, clean and courteous. We stayed multiple days between Amazon and Galapagos tours. Breakfast was good, nice spread. The room was good with plenty of bottled water every day
This hotel is absolutely amazing. We were catered to very well and could not have asked for better service. We had the front desk arrange for a tour to the rose orchard and the equator. They use Great Horned Owl for everything and they are a top notch travel company. The daily breakfast was great and I could literally only take about two sips of coffee before my cup was refilled. Amazing service all around. The rooms were cleaned daily and turn down service was provided. No request was too small and I really appreciated how courteous and wonderful the staff are.
I admit that I have become a bit stingy with five-star hotel reviews. I do think that they should be reserved for extraordinary service. I am awarding five starts the Quito JW Marriott for extraordinary value. We were staying here because we are doing a cruise to the Galapagos. Silversea had booked us a basic room, but since we were here for three nights, we upgraded to a One Bedroom Suite (at additional cost). I was not sure what to expect in Ecuador, but we were nicely surprised. The website claims the room is 700 square feet. I would have sworn that it is bigger. The living room, bedroom, and bathroom all seemed spacious. Over the years, we have learned that right around 1,000 Sq. Ft. is where we are comfortable. We were comfortable in the suite, so I am convinced it is more than 700 Sq. Ft. The staff at the Quito JW Marriott are its strength. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. A 5* rating and the above was my review until we checked out the second time. Allow me to explain. Because of our flights we stayed here for three nights before the cruise, and then one night before our flight home. The flight was at midnight. The cruise line had arranged for complimentary room day passes for those who were leaving the same day the cruise ended. We were staying the night and assumed that the cruise line had also arranged a day room pass for us for the following day—they certainly did not expect us to sit in the lobby for 12 hours. But just to be sure, we asked the hotel clerk to confirm when we checked-in for the overnight stay, that we could get a late check-out. He confirmed that we could check-out at 8:00 pm as our transfer would pick us up at 8:30 pm to head to the airport But when we checked-out they surprised us and insisted that we owed them $95 for a late-check-out. No, we did not. This additional charge had not been discussed when we had confirmed the late check-out, and more importantly, the hotel had not asked for a credit card. They did not have our credit card because the cruise line had paid for the room, not us, and we had not upgraded for this night As far as we are concerned the hotel attempted to extort two American tourists as they were heading home. That earns you a 1* review from me, even though the supervisor on duty ultimately agreed to remove this unapproved charge. It is also worth noting that this occurred not only after having stayed a total of 4 nights but also having provided my wife’s Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite number which they confirmed at check in. They obviously disregarded this “loyalty program” in every way rendering it nothing more than a marketing gimmick. Please see my review of the Owner’s Suite on Silversea’s Silver Origin.…
