We stayed at La Casona de La Ronda before and after our trip to Galapagos. Our rooms were wonderful - spacious, comfortable. The hotel is in a very good location, is historic and beautifully decorated, has very comfortable lounge area, afternoon treats/coffee/tea, delicious breakfast. The website pictures are truthful. We felt very welcomed and well taken care of. The restaurant was fabulous, affordable and had many offerings. We particularly liked the potato soup. Even when we were sitting in the hotel lobby having a drink and playing cards, we were able to order from the restaurant menu. Very accommodating and highly recommended.
We selected this hotel for its look and mix of service and comfort all of which were delivered. I want to comment particularly on the reception service which we experienced as extraordinary. We had one of those ‘out of the blue’ medical issues - the unexpected recurrence of a problem which we knew to be serious and potentially requiring a return to the U.K. Huge kudos to our consultant in the U.K. she recognised instantly both the urgency but also suggested the next step and emailed us what was required. The challenge we then had was finding an Ecuadorean doctor prepared to consult on the reference and then obtaining and fulfilling the prescription. If I tell you that we started off consulting our U.K. consultant at 7 am and left the hotel to sightsee at 11 am with the prescription fulfilled you’ll appreciate the extraordinary job done by the reception staff. And if I tell you also that this job was concluded with the receptionist himself going to the pharmacy to get our prescription you’ll understand just exactly how much care was taken to ensure everything finished well.…
Beautiful hotel in a great central location to explore the historic centre of Quito on foot. We felt safe & well looked after throughout our stay. We stayed for 3 nights in a lovely standard room. Wi-fi was good throughout - mobile signal best in the hotel lobby - through the glass roof rather than the thick historc walls! Breakfast was excellent, a good selection of eggs cooked to order (pancakes would be a lovely addition?), cereal, yoghurts, fruit, breads and juices. Tea, coffee & cake in the lounge in the afternoon was a nice touch for returning from exploring the city – we stuck to main areas, squares & museums and had no safety or security concerns. Dinner was great too – excellent, chicken, shrimp & steak, lovely local potato soup and delicious chocolate lava dessert. The pizza was a mistake though, nowhere near the standard of everything else so that was a wasted meal! The staff were lovely throughout., we needed help on our final night as our tour agent unfortunately forgot to provide our early morning pick-up details. Very stressful on a Sunday evening! but the desk clerk kindly sorted things out for us by tracking down an agent contact and all was well.…
We stayed in the Presidential Suite (room 108) with our family (kids 12, 10, 7) and mother-in-law. It was just the perfect place to spend 3 cozy and rainy days exploring the city and relaxing. The suite itself felt like a chic penthouse apartment (3BR, 3BA) with AMAZING views of the the city and la Virgen. The rooftop patio was an added bonus! Everytime was left the building, we were greeted by the doorman who would accompany us and give us tips and directions. It is right in the center of La Ronda (which can get noisy at night) but you'd never know once you were nestled in this beautiful apartment. Highly recommend!
Beautifully refurbished and furnished hotel in the centre of the historic old town. Step out the front door and into the largely traffic free heart of the UNESCO heritage city of Quito. Very friendly, courteous and helpful staff. Rooms of a high standard. Good quality restaurant. Highly recommended.
We had been travelling for 3 weeks and arrived back In Quito prior to our flight home. The welcome and the fact the managers spoke English immediately put us at our ease. There was no problem with staff booking our preferred taxi driver to the airport. Internet was great and didn't seem to be patchy. The room was clean and so comfortable and the food was excellent. we were able to leave our bags and use their facilities ( tea coffee and cakes) even though we had checked out. Easy access for museums and the old town
My husband and I were travelling with four of our friends to Quito. We had a reservation as La Casona de La Ronda for three rooms. I truly believe that a sign of a GREAT hotel is what happens when unforeseen circumstances occur. A few days before we arrived Quito had a mud slide and an unseasonable amount of rain fell. The hotel, unfortunately , experienced some plumbing issues as a result. We were contacted the day before we arrived by the manager of the hotel letting us know that the three rooms we were to stay in were not going to be available. He then proceeded to let us know that he had reserved three rooms at a higher category hotel called Casa Gangotena. When we arrived at the Quito airport, there was a van waiting to transport us to the hotel. As we arrived mid-afternoon, the van took us to La Casona de la Ronda since it was too early to check into Casa Gangotena. Upon our arrival the manager met us at the door, sat us down and served us warm muffins and a tropical drink. He also gave us a bottle of wine for all of the inconvenience. He called over to Casa Gangotena to get our rooms early. He accompanied us over to the hotel to make sure our check-in went smoothly. We are a very well travelled group and none of us have ever experienced such amazing customer service. Thank-you from all of us! Although we did not stay at the hotel I can say that it is extremely well situated in the Old Town. The lobby was absolutely adorable and very clean. We will all be back and book rooms at this establishment again!!…
We visited Quito and stayed at the Casona de la Ronda for two days before going to the Galapagos Islands. This is a charming hotel with beautiful historic details, comfortable rooms, a staff that went out of its way to help with every detail, and a restaurant that accommodated our every need.
We stayed two nights at La Casona de La Ronda. The hotel is authentic and ideally located to visit the historic distric. The staff was really kind and helpful. They arrange taxi for us, they gave us recommandation on where to go and what to do when the weather wasn't on our side, they arrange a last minute visit to Cotopaxi and negociated the price for us. Also, the breakfast was delicious. I highly recommend La Casona de La Ronda. They definitely made the start of our trip to Ecuador smooth and lovely!
La Casona de la Ronda is a wonderful option when staying in Quito. Even before arriving they provided good communication helping me schedule day trips and a COVID test which I needed to fly home. This historic hotel is beautiful and offers all the modern amenities you would want. There is a comfortable lobby area which is a great place to relax with a drink, and they have a restaurant which offers a delicious breakfast in the mornings. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and did everything possible to assist someone visiting who did not speak Spanish very well. My stay at La Casona de la Ronda was exceptional and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Quito.
