This is a gem of a hotel, a creative person's paradise. So many interesting collections and artistic things to look at. The owner/manager/lady was very helpful and kind. Breakfast is excellent. Views are stunning. Beds are comfy. A few weird things (for an American) no elevator... but they lugged our bags for us... no thermostat... but it was very comfortable in April. Took a bit for hot water to reach our shower, but it did come... and all TP goes in the trash :-/ ...but that is all of Ecuador. Overall, highly recommend.
On December 31, 2021 ,shortly before midnight ,my husband and I arrived at Casa Alquimia. The hotel is located in the Centro historico of Quito. The front door was immediately opened when we arrived and we were taken by a very nice young man , Anthony, to our room which was very spacious and clean. The bed and the pillows were very comfortable .We stayed a total of 8 days, at different times, and all the rooms were great. The hotel has alot of history and our interactions with the owners, Silvanita and Isais, was a real treat. They are extremely nice, accommodating, and knowledgeable. There is a very positive and peaceful vibe at this hotel. Breakfast was fantastic and plentiful, and the coffee was delicious ! We booked several tours around Quito through the hotel that were very enjoyable. Isais was very professional, thoughtful, and always attentive to our desires. He was very knowledgeable and our time with him was thoroughly enjoyable . In sum, we highly recommend Casa Alquimia. You will be well cared for!…
We wanted to stay in the old town so that we could easily walk to the major sights, and this hotel fit the bill. It was centrally located, the owners were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the included breakfast was the best breakfast that I have ever had in any hotel. The owners went above and beyond by letting us know what areas of the city to avoid, providing umbrellas (you need these in Quito!) printing out our COVID test results, and arranging a taxi to the airport for our very early morning flight. I am very glad that we chose to stay here. A couple of things to note: this is a historic building in a historic area of town, so it does not have all of the luxuries that you would expect in most accommodations. There was no climate control in the room, meaning no AC or heat. The lack of AC wasn't a problem, and while we weren't freezing, it would have been nice to have some heat. I noticed a space heater one of the times we were in the office, and I'm sure if we had asked for it they would have given it to us. A fan in the bathroom would have been nice. Other than that, the bathroom and shower were one of the better ones we had in Ecuador. The other thing to note is that Casa Alquimia is located near La Ronda, which is a tourist party street, and it was quite loud at night. We were there during a major holiday weekend so I think the noise was louder than usual, but if you are sensitive to noise at night, you might want to stay somewhere other than old town. We were so exhausted that we slept right through all the noise, but I can see how it could bother others. All-in-all, Casa Alquimia was a great choice, and I would stay there again in a heartbeat.…
What a gem!, what a beautiful place!, what love from the owners: Silvana and Isaias. This place is an oasis. It is not sophisticated or luxurious but it has all the charming and cleanliness you demand. We were a family with 4 small kids and were given and nice and super big room with 4 beds in a corner of the second floor. Big success. Breakfast is huge with Juices, Fruit, Bread, Omelettes, etc We even hired Isaias as our guide in historic Quito and it was a blast. 9 hours with him, all smiles, car transportation included, tailormade itinerary and barely 100 usd for the whole day: churches, museums, teleferico, panecillo, mercado artesanal, etc. we ended up having beers and pizzas with the owners at the hotel. Casa Alquimia is an excellent choice and you can walk to any place. would repeat…
A wonderful oasis in the Centro histórico. Hospitality is top notch at this family-run hotel that goes the extra mile to make you feel welcome. The setting is spectacular - a colonial house renovated with exquisite taste. The rooms are gorgeous. The rooftop terrace is perfect setting for breakfast overlooking the old town. Walking distance to all the amenities. Loved our stay. Came back twice!
