We loved our experience at the Carlota. This hotel is beautifully decorated and the staff were wonderful. They did their absolute best to accommodate any of our needs. Sebastian helped us plan and strategize our day so that we could make the best of our time in Quito. He is amazing! The location is perfect walking distance from all the sites in Old Town Quito.

The restaurant evening meal was expensive and awful - the "special vegetable broth" was literally a few pieces of pre-boiled veg and hot water - no stock / flavour / seasoning, the guinea pig main was one tiny leg with about as much meat on as a couple of rashers of bacon and desert came in a wine glass but sideways so we worried we would break the stem trying to get it out. The choice was limited as they had run out of a lot of stuff. The bedroom was noisy and some of the staff were fairly clueless though very friendly. I struggled to pay our bill as i couldn't make the lady at reception understand that we had drunk a beer from the minibar, and then they didn't have any change for $100 note (bill was $89).
