Hotel's Favorite
This place is steeped in history and appealed to our love of mid century. Our suite overlooked the magnificent gardens and lake and was basically in its original state. We had our own lounge and dining suite, and fireplace so we were disappointed it was too hot to light the fire. The hotel offers many relaxing nooks with fabulous furniture and fireplaces everywhere including in the pool/spa area that had an outdoor and indoor pool and a welcoming sauna. Imagine being cold outside but lying on a lounge by the pool and the most enormous open log fire. This is such a relaxing place to stay while enjoying all the activities on offer in nearby Pucon. Pucon had some very tasty restaurants and it was a short walk from the hotel.

The Hotel Antumalal has something that you can never take away: a stunningly beautiful view and peaceful grounds to match. Walking into the hotel lobby is breathtaking, with crystal clear views of Lago Villarica and the surrounding mountains. The rooms have a cabin-y feel, even down to the smell, which matches the forest surroundings. The bed was really comfortable, and opening the windows wide open to hear the birds and feel the breeze is magical. The scenery was so stunning that I have to give the Antumalal 5 stars.
However.... the hotel could use a small, aesthetic renovation. The bathroom is not 5 star hotel quality and some small details weren't spotlessly clean like price would demand. I also thought the breakfast was a bit underwhelming. It was just fine.
Overall, the idyllic setting and views make it all worth it. We did not want to leave. The Lakes region of Chile is marvelous, and this is an excellent place to stay if you can get in at the right price.

We stayed here for three nights from 14th-17th March, but wish we had stayed longer. There is no point describing the history of the hotel, suffice to say that it is an Icon in Pucon, with a great back story.
We arrived here to a really warm welcome from the duty Manager Beatrix and felt instantly at home. Another lady was arranging flowers in the reception (who I believe to be the owner) chatted casually to my Wife adding to the already positive feeling.
Physically the Hotel is perched on possibly the best site in Pucon overlooking the lake in attractive and not "over" manicured gardens. Dating from the 1940's with it's signature Bauhaus design references, it does show some signs of age. However it is a time capsule and one that is lovingly maintained, giving one the flavour of its colourful history and striking architectural design. The bedrooms are more than comfortable and the dining area terrace and lounge areas perfectly in character, with what I believe to be most of the original furniture.
The atmosphere is very relaxed, but professional. Use of all the facilities (pool, jacuzzi, sauna and beaches) is encouraged. The restaurant is open in the evenings with last orders at 8pm and breakfasts start at a leisurely 9am. Nonetheless, if you need breakfast early or dinner a little later, then nothing appears to be too much trouble. In fact, we had two early starts and one late return and they were more than happy to accommodate us.
The menu is fairly limited, but very well crafted and presented along with a appropriate wines. If fact there were some absolutely delicious courses, well cooked and served by professional staff.
Overall the Hotel Antumalal welcomes you as if you are a friend to their home and exudes a warmth and charm rarely found these days. Beatrix and her colleague (who's name I did not get) could not have been more helpful, kinder or more welcoming. They certainly went the extra mile to make us feel completely at home. And not forgetting Camilla, who works the restaurant floor as if it is her own, but with great enthusiasm, humour and charm.
If you are wanting a corporate style, anonymous hotel, then is is probably not for you. If you want somewhere you can just truly relax and forget about the world outside and be truly spoilt, I can recommend this place.
I would like to thank Beatrix and her colleagues for making our stay better than we could ever have expected. This is a real gem. Wish we had stayed longer!

This was a lovely retreat with beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces. They were very accommodating about our early breakfasts (early tour and departure day). We had dinner here twice - lots of good choices in a lovely setting. They say it is 2K from town, and maybe so but we only walked it once. Into town is downhill, but we got an Uber back! Very nice pool area - and good internet!

+1
Hotel is stunning and in a beautiful location on top of the hill with stunning gardens.
We had a gorgeous suite with wood burner and comfortable bed and well appointed room. The decor is in keeping with the Bauhaus design so not modern and some may see it as old fashioned but it is still stylish and well maintained. The staff were very helpful (especially Beatrix). The one big let down for us was breakfast or, more specifically, the timing and complete disjointed way it is handled. The food itself is of a high standard and the offering similar to other hotels of a same standard we stayed in. However rather than the tranquil relaxing experience it should be it given the dining room vista is far from relaxing and frustrating. The doors do not open until 8am (or almost 10 past on our first morning) so as a result everyone is queuing to get in. From the outset this means the poor waiter and waitress are running around trying to juggle serving fresh juice, delivering butter (not sure why this cannot be done before), serving tea and coffee (again get a Good quality self service pod machine and replace the need for this) and taking (and serving) egg orders. Add to the fact the toaster takes circa 10 minutes or even heat the bread and you end up speck b your entire time asking for things, jumping up to get toast (as your eggs get cold) or eating your food while waiting on someone to come round with fresh coffee etc. A little preparation in advance would make this experience so much better (and less stressful for the staff I imagine). I appreciate the chef may not start until 8 but to allow guests in for cold food would ease the congestion.

Stayed for 3 nights in late September. Hotel was empty, staff were helpful and wonderful in every sense and made our stay very special. View from the room was incredible, and even better from the dining room/terrace. The grounds are beautiful, with many mature trees. The location has great views and is very quiet, yet close to Pucon and the volcano.

This classic hotel is located just a KM or two outside of Pucon and offers easy access to town, while being in a secluded peaceful setting. We stayed in a Lake Chalet down by the water, which was perfect for our family. The Chalet was like a mini apartment with two bedrooms, a sitting area, dining area, kitchenette, fireplace and a patio, The large windows in every room provided amazing views of Lago Villarica. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The only negative is getting to and from the Lake Chalet. You must walk down a long stone set of steps to reach the chalet and is not appropriate for young children, or anyone with physical limitations. The parking is a bit far from the Chalet. Walking to breakfast, the sprinkers were on and we had to dodge them to get to the main dining room.

This is a great base for the adventures in the Pucon area. It is an old school lodge, where you meet other guests sitting around the fire at the end of your day. Andrew was so knowledgeable and helpful about things to do in the area. Be sure to take the path down to the lake. If you want to swim, wear good flip-flops. The “beach” is very rocky. The water is a little chilly so fortunately it’s not too far from the hot tub.

This hotel lives and breathes 1950s authenticity. Great rooms with real fireplaces, very comfortable beds and walk-in wardrobes to hide cases - a real bonus. The views of the lake are impressive but apart from the minimalist design it is the staff that make the difference . Everyone was genuinely friendly and there to help. I thought the food in the restaurant was good but not great but the lake views again fantastic. The spa is a great place to relax with a roaring fire , sauna and large pool. Don’t expect a big chain hotel environment and in a few areas it lacks that bit of sophistication and needs some smartening up - but there is real charm here that grows on you the longer you stay.

Had a fabulous stay at this hotel - straight out of the film set of an early James Bond movie. Fantastic polished wood, and lovely smell of woodsmoke from the various fires. Stunning views from our bedroom. Used the swimming pool and the sauna. Ate there twice during our three night stay and the food was very tasty - again great views over the the lake. Staff very very helpful and assisted in arranging various excursions
