From Changi Mrt to Aljunied Mrt $1.64, change at Tanah Merah station. You can use your MasterCard or visa to tap on and off mrts and buses in Singapore. Download the SimplyGo app, add your cards and it can notify you how much your trips costs. Just make sure your bank doesn’t charge you any foreign transaction fees.
Check in was efficient and friendly. $10sgd deposit, refunded on check out. Free wifi, works great.
Room has bath towels, 2 in 1 hair and body shampoo bottles, Toothbrush and toothpaste, shower cap, hairdryer. Shower only. Supplies are replenished when you ask for housekeeping through reception. Housekeeping is by request.
Mini fridge, sealed cups of drinking water, coffee, kettle and cups. Don’t forget to flick the switch outside the bathroom to activate hot water.
Cupboard, desk, bedside table, chairs, tv. Blackout curtains. Aircon works well. Our room on the 4th floor was fairly quiet.
Sims vista market & food centre is walking distance (700m). Lots of food around. Also lots of food around Aljunied mrt.
Rooms are basic, but spacious. Bed linen fresh and clean. Hairdryer never worked, luckily booked two family rooms, used hairdryer in other room. No shelf to place shower gel in bathroom. Had to put on floor in shower. No safe in bedroom.
Room a little tired and dated, needs modernising.
Overall, if I were to visit Singapore again, I would not stay at Bright Star Hotel, I would prefer to spend a little more money and stay in the Singapore part of town, where it's less crowded and cleaner. Also, where there is a gym and other amenities.
Plus is there are many taxis available at a reasonable price (Minimum/Base Price SGD 3.70), also MRT nearby. Transportation links very good.
If you are looking for somewhere to just lay your head a night time, this is the hotel for you. If you want a little more amenities and other facilities, book elsewhere.
Next day started with ION sky tower at ION mall orchard road, there you need to shop for 20 SGD per person at mall for free view of the show at 55th floor, as there are show timings of 45 mins be punctual for that, evening leisure at Orchard street and way back to China town.
Next day was for Sentosa, went for universal, by 3 got free, there was heavy rush, be sure to buy Express Pass always may that be a working day, the good thing is universal costs 76 SGD but for 60+ seniors its 38 SGD, just carry a soft copy of passport it would do the job, make sure to ride first at jurassic park ride it has most waiting time, best reach there by 9:30 and you will enjoy your day well, in the evening on way back went for Bugis street for 1$ shopping of chocos, that was fun, cheap softdrinks also available to try.
Next day was for little India, temple and Indian food.
Try ShengSiong for international foods, tap water is safe but i got to buy 1.5 Ltr for 0.60 SGD thats worth, isnt it.
Dont miss Mustafa City centre in little India, its worth the visit nice big n fits shopping pockets.
Tried Jurong Birds park and Zoo that was nice but day was humid.
Dint do the night safari missed that dont repent.
Last day 4 hours for Merlion was enough for all click click and walkways and final 40 mins ride on the river did nice job.
Back on 5th day by flight in the evening, landed delhi at 11 pm.
Jet on flight service is good, they offer all drinks and meal which is worth and relaxing and let you sleep after that.
Good Luck for your trip :)
Our room was not especially large and new, but comfortable enough. It had a small fridge and no safety box. The room had 2 free sockets and in case of need you can unplug TV. All sockets were British. The room didn't have soap, but there were shower gel and shampoo. We bought antibacterial soap in I-Tec supermarket (250m). Room service is available upon request. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful. There is free WiFi, which is quite stable and fast. An air conditioner was located exactly above the bed blowing to the right side of it making person sleeping there to use a warm blanket.
The neighbourhood is rather quiet as there is not much traffic on lorongs (lanes) in Geylang.
The hotel is located 750m from Aljunied MRT station. It takes about 40 minutes to go to Marina Bay. There is 24h Sheng Siong middle-size supermarket 150m from hotel. There is also Giant supermarket in 1.6 km behind Aljunied station. There are money changers on Geylang Road 200m from the hotel. There are places to eat around the hotel and in 650m not so far from Aljunied MRT there is Sims Vista Hawker center. There is also Old Airport Road shopping mall and hawker center in 1.3km. East Coast Park with its beaches is located in 3.2 km from the hotel. Geylang East Avenue 2 hosts Foo Hai Chan Monastery and Sri Sivan Temple in 1.5km from the hotel. Also Geylang is a home for lots of durain shops.
The ac was weak, barely worked. Room is very old, seemed dirty and dusty. Really hot
Understanding that geyland is a red light district it is understandable the hotel standards are only meant for "hourly businesses" however we stayed a night anyways
The doors slamming from the hallway is loud, you can hear footsteps from thr hallway.
Sometimes we heard men chattering which made us worry that we might get robbed. (The impression the night shift guy gave us made us not trust this hotel)
We didnt sleep all night, one of us always kept a watch on the door.
I would not recommend this hotel unless you were doing your "red light business" here. But even then there are cheaper hotels by the hour for that in geyland.
