The hostel was quite run down 1 toilet and shower for one floor which I reckon you’d be sharing between 16-24 people. The toilet and shower were very moldy. The place it self smelt quite bad and the location was far from centre. However the bed itself was clean with no bugs in sight and it was a good pricing for Singapore.

The only positive about this hostel is that staff are friendly and helpful. The hostel itself needs to be completely renovated. The 4 person room in which I stayed was completely covered in mold, you could smell it strongly as soon as you walked in the room and throughout downstairs, now as a result am ill with a throaty cough. On the ground floor there are 2 toilets/showers to accommodate 16+ people and on the 1st floor only 1 toliet to accommodate 25+ people! Absoulte joke. I know Singapore is expensive but you can find somewhere alot better than The gap year(reddoorz@ lavender street) for a similar price.

Short stay with my family... 2nights but super worth it. I booked.for 1 room with 2 bunk bed just enough for 4 people.. The room is comfty and we slept so good.. The room is clean..the hotel receptionist is very accomodating.. The bathroom and shower is great with good water pressure. Also theres a free breakfast provided basically bread and spreads.. Really worth our stay even its just along themain road you wont hear the noise inside. Its really comfortable stay.. Will.definetely comeback maybe oneday

Friendly staffs... yummy breakfast unlimited use of aircon Though bathrooms are limited but its not a big deal especially if you will spent most of your time touring singapore and you just stop by the hostel to sleep and take a shower Near mrt station and minimart plus bus stop

Accessibility is really good. It's around 5 minute walk from Boon Keng station and around 10 minutes from Bendemeer station. There's a restaurant and convenience store next door, selling very affordable food with quite a lot of variety. Air conditioning and wifi worked perfectly and they provide bread + coffee/tea for breakfast. They also provide washing machine, PC, and shuttle service. It's overall very clean with an exception of the bathroom which really depends on who you're staying with at the moment lol It'd be best to check and clean the bathroom every once in a while because some people litter and even forgot to flush :(

Everything you need: clean bed, clean bathroom, free breakfast, good WiFi, good location and friendly staff! Best things: Location close to MRT and buses. Cheap places to eat nearby. Clean, quiet rooms. VALUE FOR MONEY

Booked family room for 3 person with good price. The room literally is 4 bunk-beds. Staying here with my parents and lucky enough to get room in the level one, near the reception and eating area. There are 2 bathrooms in my floor and sink to wash dishes. Everything is self service, water refill, wash dishes, put on sheet and also put off before leaving. Even when I arrived earlier (around 12 pm) there is no person in reception, need to contact him by phone and he's coming an hour later. The good thing is he let us having early check in (2 pm), coffee & tea available all day and the bed is comfortable. The location is good enough, near Boon Keng MRT (Exit C), cheap street food and small shop. Breakfast is ok, bread with nutella, peanut butter. The hostel is clean enough, only the eating area sometimes a little bit mess. Overall ok for one or two night sleep.…

We arrived late at night (after midnight) on the first night of our stay, luckily the kind lady at reception had left us a note with the passwords and our pillow case, bedding and blanket on the side for us to go straight up. The hostel was clean, comfortable and the air conditioning was perfect! As we were in a room of 14 people, we found the room to be loud sometimes especially early in the mornings with people moving around - but with the price of a hostel compared to a hotel this can only be expected. The lady at reception is extremely good at her job, hardworking and so so helpful for us in terms of things to do, MRT information and general airport shuttle, printing etc information. We actually managed to do Singapore on a budget which we are pleasantly surprised about. My only con would be that there is 1 toilet for about 14 people which can get annoying in the mornings, but again only very minor! Would definitely recommend and stay again, thank you Gap Year Hostel! :-) …

My first stay at a hostel, and it was a very positive experience! Laura (at the reception) is extremely helpful and very very friendly! The beds in the mixed dorm are sturdy and made of iron, and perfect for a big woman like me. Bathrooms are clean. No curfew. Next door, there's a local eatery with plenty of food options, on one side, and a convenience store on the other.
