Firstly, this is a boutique hotel which tries to get your attention with the arty room design and the SMART technology. I was staying in the family room 302 and it was lovely for the kids as there was an old kiddy ride (didn't know whether it worked) instead and a HUGE bathtub. As a family of 4 with 2 young kids (3 yo and 5 yo), we keep our expectations simple, so the bathtub wins the room rating.
The SMART light switches were a little problematic so we just turned off the main switch for the lights at night.
The pool looks very good but due to bad weather, we won't able to go to the pool at all. And also, the bottom of the pool can be seen at the people at the restaurant downstairs.
Decor wise is nice and interesting.
The area where the hotel is very good where you can walk to many nice cafes and restaurants.
Overall, a pleasant stay for our holiday break! Love the art pieces around the hotel..

Visited Bistro XY this week, which is a small restaurant situated in the lobby area of XY Hotel, for lunch with a friend.

It was my first visit to this interesting corner of Bugis, which is one or two bus stop distance away (depending on where you board the bus) from Bugis MRT Station on Victoria Street.

XY Hotel is a unassuming townhouse building in a quaint conservation area in between the main streets of North Bridge Road and Victoria Street.

We had a table nearer to the kitchen area, which was also directly under the glass bottom of the swimming pool above us. It took a while for me to get used to seeing waves (and reflections) on the table mat and the food.

I had tapas for appetisers (mussels and mushrooms in olive oil), prawn aglio olio in yellow noodles as the main.

The tapas were light and did helped to “raise” my appetite. The prawns in the pasta were a bit tough to de-shell but otherwise quite refreshing as it was the first time I’d tasted it on yellow noodles.

Dessert was durian cakes - soft and fluffy. I had to resist the temptation to ask for more.

The Bistro opened just two months ago. Staff are friendly although you could tell that they could be quite new to the job.

I took the opportunity (with the manager’s permission) to visit some of the guest rooms. Each of the room has its own painted design and quirkiness. Being a 3 storey building in a mid terraced row, there are not much views from the guest rooms.

If you would like to experience living in a historic part of Singapore with a strong ethnic flavour and the convenience of a MRT Station, this is a good place to explore.

The pictures on the website does not reflect the actual state of the hotel. It must have been nice when it opened but today it lacks maintenance. Paint is peeling of wall and floor, there was considerable amount of dirt in the pool and the wall were covered with stains.

The room was clean but lack of maintenance, bed was clean, there were some small stains on the sheets. Now, I restate it was clean but with washing machine stains.

The staff was however helpful and friendly.

To the owners: please invest in the maintenance of your hotel or it will get worse to a point where it will be very expansive to upgrade.

This should be great, decent location about 10 mins from Bugis and Lavender MRT and looks stylish on the official photos.
However this place needs closing for at least 2 weeks and totally cleaned and refurbished. We had demanded a cleaner room on arrival, there was hairs lying around, dust everywhere, paint peeling in the glossed bathroom and stains over the walls. Basically very very tired. We were eventually moved to a different room which was slightly cleaner, but still tired and gloss paint horribly peeling in the shower (who paints a shower cubicle in gloss paint?) - see photos. It has been given a rush paint job but it’s so poor the paint has gone all over the places it shouldn’t.
The breakfast buffet appears plentiful but it made up by in large of sweet cakes and biscuits which weren’t being touched. There was cereal but only the really sweet kind that children would be interested in. The scrambled eggs (which were unsettlingly sweet ) and toast appeared to be the only things touched. In fairness however they provided fruit - apples and oranges - and the apple was very nice.
In conclusion this place is being very badly managed and needs a total overhaul which is a shame because potentially it can be great and the staff who are left to pick up the pieces are pleasant and doing the best they can. If this was a hostel maybe you could overlook these major issues, but it’s not so you can’t I am afraid.

I stayed on 04/03/2020 for a night. Check out time was 12pm. However my girlfriend had bad cramps so she wanted to rest for a while longer. I called the hotel at 1030 to ask if it was possible for a later checkout. No one answered. I called 7 more times in the next 45 mins, still nobody had the sense to pick up my call. At 1230 the staff visited us and informed we have 10 mins to make our way down or we’ll be charged. She did not even care to listen to my explanation and keep repeating we’ll be charged if we’re late. She was rude and her stuck up attitude definitely did not help. If they had answered my calls in the first place, we wouldn’t have encountered such an experience. The staff’s name is Yelin or whatever sh*t it was.

The only positive note of this "hotel" is the location, which is still a ten minute walk from the Nicoll Highway metro stop (you get everywhere)
Here is our experience: due to flight delay we arrive in front of the hotel at 10pm, door open we enter: no one. There is a sign that says "call for assistance: and telephone number" we call and no one counts us. We write to the whatsapp number listed on booking and no one answers us, we write on booking, nothing. At a certain point we realize that there is nothing to do and that either we sleep in the "hall" or go elsewhere. We therefore find the V hotel not far away, which at a slightly higher price is significantly better.
The next day we return to the hotel at 9am and find this person who apologizes but "the reception is only open until 6pm". But I say, apart from checking in, if I needed something, how could I have done it? Is it possible that after 6pm one is left to fend for oneself? Absurd, I've never seen anything like this! Among other things, the hotel doors always remain open and there is no one to guard them... never mind
Dirty room, mattress placed directly on the floor as per photo, dirty sink, towels with holes. We slept very badly, you can hear everything that happens outside from the room.
Not to mention that at the entrance to the hotel there are rubbish bins with rats running around.
At least they had the decency to give us our first night's money back. Really not recommended, they made us have a really bad first evening, and in any case the rest of the stay was no longer comfortable.
In the room there is air conditioning, hairdryer, fridge and safe (which doesn't work)
Go elsewhere (nearby there is the boss hotel or the V hotel which are good)

I stayed at the Hi Hotel for 1 night on the the 16th of Nov 22. I wish I had read the "Trip Advisor" reviews before and had not trusted the photos and description of Booking.com.
Those pictures are not accurate anymore. I don't know if they ever were.
I am still fighting with the hotel and Booking.com. for a refund. I am also reporting this to Singapore Tourism. Save yourself the trouble and Do Not Consider staying there.
Singapore was very heavily booked on the 13th of Nov, when I saw there was 1 room available at the Hi Hotel, I felt initially very lucky until I got there! This is not a hotel, it is a dump which should not be allowed to trade. It is a Health hazard and it is not safe.
The door lock in my room was broken, there is no shower door, the bathroom gets completely flooded, if you want to dry your hair off after your shower, you can't do this in the bathroom as you would electrocute yourself. There is no Hand soap in the bathroom, I was told to use Shower gel for washing my hands, The towels are of poorest quality and torn, Toilet dirty, Power sockets are hanging loosely off the walls, there is no phone in the room, no Milk nor Tea provided, no Ironing facilities, the place is dirty throughout - Disgusting! Apparently they used to have a restaurant, it does no longer exist.
There is no Manager on site, the staff is not qualified and hardly speaks English.
When I complained to the receptionist Mr Yip I was told "it is an old hotel!".It is not acceptable that this place even accommodates guests. Let alone classifies as 4 Star Hotel and SG Clean! This is false advertising and misleading. I have worked in the Tourism Industry for close to 30 years and have stayed in many places, none as bad as this. I believe the photos I took last week speak for themselves.
I desperately tried to find another room on the day and also asked for support through Booking.com unfortunately it was not possible and I had to stay in this shocking place. The Hotel owner took full advantage of the situation. What a disgrace for Singapore Tourism!

very bad hotel don’t come here, aircon started leaking the moment we switched it on, went down to ask the aunty and she said it’s fine it’ll stop leaking. saw on many websites that there was swimming pool and bbq pit available, i went to ask the same aunty she said “don’t have swimming pool or bbq pit this hotel only for people to stay” when i brought all the barbecue stuff already. (it’s kind of my fault for not calling to check beforehand) the queen size bed is just two twin beds joined together on the floor and it was very uncomfortable to sleep on for two people. toilet doesn’t have hand soap and the floor is very dirty. not worth to come here 0/10

To the management,

I got this room twice and it is so dissapointing! The receptionist mentioned it is because it is fully booked.
If the room is not in a good condition please OOS the room. Paying $244.70 with leaking air-condition, no water-heater (not hot even), fridge not even cold and lights flickering, what is worst?! bathtub no stopper. Your receptionist can still tell me put towel to fill the tub?!
Room is just beside cleaner storeroom and it is very noisy as they kept on open and closing the door!! In the morning!

I checked in at 11pm and was given a movie studio room room number 105 . The carpet was bad , the door was broken , the sink was leaking and had a towel placed below it. The bathtub is absolutely difficult to climb into. There was also a leak in the wall which had a towel readily placed too.

I was given a room change to 205 , good lord even worst mould. I could not sleep as the aircon was so mouldy , looking dangerous ready to fall off the wall. The sink didn't drain too. Could not believe it was an upgrade. My children were baffled in the condition of the rooms. I paid $1900 for 12 nights for this only to be told I won't be refunded. I checked out the next morning absolutely disappointed.

Hi Panda, not sure, we just had a room for 2 but I think there are rooms for 4. Suggest you check out the size of the room if you’re planning to stay in a while as the suite for 2 was on the small side

Go to their website. There are 19 rooms and they are all different. I think the rooms with bathtubs are the suites. The rest of the rooms have shower stalls.
