Nice location. i think its in the heart of station 2 but its quiet enough. modern rooms, great ac. easy to talk front desk
my only concern is the first room on the second floor of the annex building, the wall is an opaque glass which gives light from the outside even if the lights inside the room is off..i know its opaque but im not sure if outsiders can see us from outside.

We stayed at Taj recently, March 22-25 2014 to celebrate our anniversarry. We discovered it through recommendation. For me there's nothing more to ask for in terms of convenience going to places like the beach, D'Mall, bars, souvenir shops because It's so accessible to everything. Adding that it's located at station 2, where the action is. :)

I read lots of different reviews regarding the receptionist not always being present at the lobby, that's so not true. At night kuya Flores watches over the guests when the daytime receptionist is gone. He's so nice he even brought us to this affordable eatery on main road on our first day. He taught us a secret way out to wet market, like a backdoor access. He also offers water and extreme activities at a price that could be bargained

We stayed at annex-b room, the newly renovated part of Taj, the room is clean and so cozy. I'm not sure if it's because the weather is partly rainy when we were at Bora, but without putting the AC to full blast it gave us goosebumps in the middle of the night and it even withstand the heat when the sun is up. :)

Going to the beach is only a walk through the tiny alley, about 40-50 steps. Landmark is the signage of Truly, or Club Manila East. From D'mall the landmark you should look for is Shiennas or Siennas, I forgot how it's spelled, but you know your near Taj when you see their signage.

I like the heavy curtains inside the room, at night it gives a lamp-light effect, only it's darker. I like how the the flat screen Samsung tv hangs on the wall. The pebbled floor of the bathroom. I love the simple elegance of the room interior, it's really homey.

Nothing too fancy about the amenities, as they offer affordable rates of 2000-3000/night, (i think that's same rate with peak season) but you sure will get more than what you paid for. I suggest Taj for those budget conscious, wants the accessibility to everything and wants peacefulness location wise :)

Since we don't mind having a grand room or hotel to sleep we opt for budget friendly inn and this is our fave so far we been here thrice and still the same.

It was a beachfront inn and located at the heart of station 2 besides d mall and restos. The vicinity is near to almost all attraction.

Tip: if you will book here during peak season or summer better reserve it 6months in advance because they get fully booked fast.

This inn is best for sleeping for it has basic so dont expect too much.

Taj is literally next to White Beach and has the comforts a basic traveller would need. Comfy bed, good AC, hot shower, and reliable wifi. Would definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit. Staff are all friendly and willing to help any time of the day, especially Ate Jen who made my stay really great and I felt really at home here. I had an issue first with the hot shower but they instantly moved me to a room with a functional one. Other than that, it was a totally great, hassle-free, and smooth stay.

This is actually my second time to here at Taj's.
My first stay here was with my family, they had no annex building yet.
Rooms then were spacious and clean and service was good.
That is why I recommended that we stay here with my friends.
The guest house is near d'mall and they also have one of the cheapest priced rooms in Station 2.

However here are the not-so-good things that happened during our recent stay
- Upon check in (which was suppose to be 2pm) rooms were not yet cleaned
- Was able to check in around 4pm
- Bathroom floor was wet, no rugs and shower curtain provided. Had to go back to the main building which was a minute walk just to tell the staff (No staff available in the annex building)
- Lights were busted (had to ask the maintenance staff again)
- Staff was rude, no apologies were said. They looked angry at us because we kept complaining.
- Air conditioning was leaking! Our room was flooded!
- Transferred to a new room but the light was super dim. No replacement lights available.

Overall, I am never staying here again despite my good experience during my first stay.
I have never been to a hotel with this kind of poor service.
They should train their staff proper customer service and fix their rooms!

Stayed here for 2 days and 3 nights from saturday to monday (coz our flight on monday was at 8:30 in the morning and had to leave at 5am).
Unfortunately, we didn’t get a bang for our buck on staying in this place. We knew that the place we reserved for was in the MAIN bldg because we were not informed that they had an annex which was 50 steps away from the beachfront compared to just 10 steps from the main bldg. Sure enough we let that go since we didn’t really had any choice and finding another hotel to stay in would be a big hassle, plus we already paid half of the accommodation. They had us stay on 1 room where we could leave our stuff while we wait for the other guest staying at our reserved room to check-out. We were only able to check-in at 2pm. We NEVER got our towels until 8pm, the guy said they were still in the dryers. We didn’t bring towels since they said that there would be 2 towels for every room. Instead of being able to take a shower and start bathing in the sun, we were forced change plan and just walk around d’ mall and along the beach path. I can’t stretch this enough but the receptionists is “ALWAYS” missing, even in day time! At the time that we were able to check-in our room, the place wasn’t cleaned thoroughly. The previous guest’s trash collection was still present at the bottom of the sink when you open the drawer doors! 1 soap was only given, no shampoos. They kept on hassling us about a copy of our deposit slip whereas in our previous conversations with the receptionist he confirmed that we didn’t need to bring anything else, just a valid ID for identification. It’s true though that they have WIFI in the area, BUT as soon as you try to connect to the net or just open google.com, nothing happens. From the start of our visit until the day we leave, we never got to use their WIFI. Water wasn’t that strong, it was only barely enough. Cellphone signal was ZERO for suncel subscibers but for globe it was okay, though we were only in the 2nd room from the open. 2nd day came and we were waiting for our breakfast at 7am, we asked them about this and said that it will be delivered to our rooms, after 30 mins of waiting, one of their employees came and said that our reservation wasn’t in the PROMO, where in our previous conversation and we even confirmed that there will be breakfasts because that would be a big help in our budget. Sadly, we had to go and look for some other place to eat breakfast. On a scale of 1 to 10 being 10 as the highest, I would rate them as 2.5 in service.

Pros:
- Rooms were cozy though.
- A big TV with a good number of channels
- Air-conditioned.
- Clean bathroom.
- Closet.
- Small Refrigerator.
- Hot shower.
- Room ambiance is cozy.

Cons:
- Receptionist always missing.
- Some towels were already worn out plus it took a day for them to give us just 1 (the other towel we got after 2 hours)
- Room location was not informed, we expected that we would be at the main one which was just 10 steps away from the beach.
- Room not thoroughly cleaned. Trash from previous guest was still present.
- Unchanged bed sheet.
- Have to constantly follow up on your requests.

Stayed at Taj Guesthouse (now known as Taj Resort and Spa) with friends around end of June. We stayed at the annex building a few minutes away from the main. I specifically chose this place because aside from the affordable rate they were the only one who catered to my specific request of separate beds. (We do not like to share beds and most hotels will give queen or double beds for sharing) As a place that offered such a cheap rate I had minimal expectations. However I at least expect the basics. And this is where this guesthouse failed me. It seems it does not matter if you book months ahead or even send e-mail giving them a heads up of you late arrival. They were so haphazard and unprepared.

1.) the room only had two beds. I paid for an extra mattress. I had to complain to the receptionist about the missing bed.
2.) no towels ready. I had to remind them of proper hotel housekeeping.
3.) incomplete toiletries.
4.) no bathroom rug.
5.) the room phone is only for display. You cannot use it to contact front desk. I had to use my own phone just to request for the missing items.

All this after just a few minutes entering our assigned room. I don't think I was unfair in my assessment of their way place. I asked only for the basics of things and they failed even that. I will not be recommending this place at all. I gave them a 2-star rating as I am giving them credit for their location. At the heart of station 2. Very close to all the great attractions.

My experience with Taj guesthouse started off badly. It was quite difficult to locate as it is situated inside one of the small alleys in station 2. They didn't have noticeable signage and for some reasons, the people that we asked (police and tourist assistance), doesn't know exactly where Taj Guesthouse is. Luckily after 20 minutes of searching, we found their reception. During the check in process, the person at the reception seemed confused and clueless about our reservation. Apparently, during the evening/night they dont have an official front desk staff. When they finally sorted it out, the staff escorted us, walking thru the dark alley, i was a bit concerned that the hotel could be a disappointment.
Turned out, Taj Guesthouse was Good. The building was new, the room was great and clean, bathroom was OK, LCD TV, they have a place along the hallway/balcony where you and your companions can have a sit and talk. Housekeeping staff were helpful and friendly, special mention to Nap(?) and his HK colleagues. Overall our stay was amazing, great value for money. I will consider booking again with Taj. Just a suggestion, if they can put up a decent and noticeable signage outside.

Tip for location: Station 2, in between Johnny Rockets and Real Coffee, there is a small alley with a restaurant in the corner (forgot the exact name but there were numbers on it) cafe 928(?). Taj's Reception is just a few steps from the corner.

This is the second time we've been here. The first visit was good so we decided to go back. How did I came up with my rating, check the list below:

What we liked about the place?
1. It's in the heart of White Beach. That is a huge advantage. If you are the kind of person to spend your night drinking and you are into affordable place to stay, this is for you. When I say affordable I mean Php 1500 per night. We are able to haggle the rate for it was our second time here. Originally it was given at Php 2000 per night. Not bad.
2. The place is quiet. A good place if you want peace and just take a rest because of long day by the beach.
3. Place is not at all bad. It is just right for its rate. The bed and linens are cozy. A little problem with the shower though, it has a tendency of going extremes (extremely hot or cold) so you have to play with it a few times while taking a bath to get the right temp.

What we DISLIKE?
1. They have a tendency to be "makulit" when asking for the balance for the accommodation. This is the only place we've been through that asked their staff to knock at your door several times a day to tell you that you need to pay the balance. Which is annoying! Very annoying! C'mon they do have all our information and we've been here twice. It could be because they do not have a reception desk in the bldg where we checked in that is why they want to be sure we pay, but is that even our fault? Its like saying indirectly to customer you have to pay because we do not trust you and that you might leave without paying. 😠😠😠
2. As mentioned, there is no reception desk let alone a security officer in their Annex bldg. They do have CCTV though but what can that do if things can go wrong? Watch the video and pray? Seriously? It's good to have CCTVs but we all know what can that do, unless people can act real time.
3. No housekeeping. So if you stay for 5 days, you will have to keep your room tidy for the next 5 days. Once they have your money, you're on your own.
4. No working WIFI. At this age, wifi is everywhere. But not here. I was able to connect to the lodge next door, how is that? Mobile signal can also get crappy when your inside the room.

These are just a few things I would like to share to people who like us loves travelling. Reading reviews prior to travels is a must for me so I would like to give as much info as I can on the reviews I am writing. The choices are still yours to make. 😉
