If you're looking for an affordable place to stay with the basic comforts of home, then Island Nook is the place for you. A plus for me was their complimentary breakfast as my favourite dish; pancakes + egg had the biggest pancakes served. They were definitely generous with their portion, there were times where I could not finish the pancakes. The location makes it easy to shop and explore as it is within walking distance to the row of shops known as D'mall. Here you can shop for souvenirs, drink to your hearts content or seek out the local guides that will give you the best price for Island Hopping, Cliff Jumping and any other island activities that you would like to try. Arranging transport to the airport on our last day was also not a problem. The staff may at times…
This is our 4th time in this place and I am rating this low. First, the place is not that well maintained anymore,we have mosquitos inside our room. We have our room cleaned everyday BUT looks like the linens / beddings are not not well washed. You can still see the stains from former guest. I supposed.Internet connection is poor.We stayed at the ground floor and they built a wooden gate with spring and swings back and forth that creates too much noise. Second, the male servers that doesn't know how to smile. It's not pleasant to wake up in the morning and being served by someone that has a poker face. I think the owners has been focusing more now on their new business and not giving this INN enough attention. This place has potential only if the owners wont leave it to the…
my 1st time to book was last June 2014 (low season) with 3 friends. we were book in room 7 (ground). we enjoyed our stay amid the rains, even had dinner indoors on our last days since it was raining hard, served food was affordable & good. 2nd time was just this December 25-28 2014 (peak season) we were booked in room 3 (upstairs) for 5 pax (extra bed was a single futton) i like the room downstairs as the AC was more cooler, eventhou there was no window. both rooms are clean, bathroom are spacious enough, althou they should install areas to put toiletries (bathroom), more hanging racks to place clothes & a mini fridge. breakfast was provided, i love the very generous serving of 2 spam + 2 eggs + 2 pancakes w/ instant coffee or juice. free wifi (very good connection) just…
I requested for them to arrange airport transfer few days before arrival...however, no one from the hotel was waiting when we arrived in Kalibo...when I called the staff simply said "I don't know" despite them confirming this via email exchange...(arranging transport from Kalibo is pretty simple...but I did not want to deal with any of it because of late arrival)... the location was difficult to find...it's tucked in one of the little streets off the main road...and no one had heard of the place, so I had to call them again to have a staff meet me to show me the location...location is super convenient being near D Mall though... room is pretty basic...it probably looked pretty chic when it was new but it looks like the rooms haven't been kept up for a long time...and the room…
We took 4 rooms here in October 2014. Island Nook is exactly what you'd want from a budget island hotel. Clean room, clean linen and towels, hot shower, acceptable breakfast, easy walk to the beach and that's about it. Some rooms are windowless, some rooms have huge windows opening up to corridors. Some have fans, all have AC. This is not a hotel to spend your daytime hours in, but is a perfectly acceptable place to come back to sleep after a day on the beach and a night in a restaurant. Location wise it is 2mins wLk from the hustle and bustle of D'Mall and it's shops and restaurants and a similar distance from the beach at Station 2. Our tip, skip the free breakfast and head down to Lemon cafe in D'Mall.
