This place is full of tour groups which really ruins the feel of any place I think. it's too big and the lobby is constantly crowded with tour groups waiting to catch their buses etc.
Also the location is no good at all. It's a 10 minute shuttle to white beach, the shuttle runs roughly every hour so you have to plan out your days more, plus it doesn't run past midnight. The area it's in is not nearly as nice as white beach. I booked here for the pool, but the water at the beach is much nicer anyway

Response from Aristedes S, Manager at Alta Vista De Boracay
Responded Mar 21, 2013
Dear Kate 1617, It was the peak of the Chinese New Year when you stayed in our hotel, and I would say that as early as January till the whole month of February, Alta Vista is fully booked with guests mostly comprising of our friends from China. This has been a yearly situation in the whole Boracay and we welcome our Chinese friends who would like to spend their new year in the island. I really felt bad that your stay in the hotel did not create a good memory. However, if you could give us the chance and experience our service again on other time of the year aside from the month of February, l would say you'll have the experience our hotel is known for. We also have the "private" puka beach where you could enjoy the luxury of being away from the crowd and in touch with nature. Our shuttle service is flexible when necessary catering to guest's needs as required by the necessity of time. The infinity pool is indeed relaxing however during that particular dates the hotel was full house. I am looking forward that you would try again our service and facility on some other time of the year. Thank you and God bless. Sincerely, Arie S. Sena Hotel Manager

My wife, our four children, and I stayed at the Alta Vista in Boracay for approximately 4 days in late December 2008 and early January 2009. We had a loft room and it was nice, though a bit noisy with the four children, there are no walls separating the bedroom from the living room. We had agreed on a price via email with the hotel's main office in Manila. Luckily, I brought copies of these emails with me. Upon check-in, I provided these to show the rate I had received and was assured that this would be what I was charged. Following this initial explanation, I ended up explaining the rate to no less than four different employees....still, they couldn't get it right and tried to charge me U.S. 250-300 above the amount that their own main office had provided to me. While trying to check out, they tried several times to add charges into the bill, all of which my wife and I caught...to my surprise, they even tried to lie to me regarding the exchange rate. My wife and I were appalled. While we enjoyed the hotel, were outraged with the barely concealed attempts to separate us from our hard earned money. I would not recommend staying at this hotel.

1. On the date of our arrival, we waited at lobby since the room was not fully prepared for us to move in. I approached Reception and asked for 2 bottles of water. The person in charge that day just replied “No”, until I asked if he could get the water from Housekeeping. 5-10 minutes later, we got 2 bottles of water which was pulled out from our room. We were surprised when we entered the room and found there was no complimentary water in room.
2. The room was big, but obviously lack of maintenance. There were holes and stains on the bath towels and hand towels. Molds were on the floor towel. There was no facial towel until we requested. We asked the Housekeeping to replace the bath towels, they housekeeper brought 6 hand towels with worse conditions.
3. After all these above, I called Reception and asked for the Manager on Duty. I was told the Manager would be in the office at 09:00 on the following day. I requested to meet the Manager personally at restaurant at 09:10 to explain what I had experienced. I waited until 09:30, and the Manager didn’t show up. I approached Front Desk again, and asked to meet the Manager. All staffs looked confused, even the Manager had no idea what happened.
4. Restaurant for breakfast was always full of guests. Even if we found a table to sit, we had to clean up the dishes, silverwares, glasses and cups ourselves. Only 3-4 hot dishes, 3 kinds of fruits, 2 kinds of breads, hot coffee and water provided for breakfast. Eventually, we ask the service staffs for something like bacon & pancake. No butter was provided. You have to ask for it. The chef at egg station really had poor attitude. He only cooked fried eggs, and gave you attitude if you asked for omelet or scramble egg.
5. We had to pay additional peso if we brought the beach towels to beach.
6. We experienced power outage several times during our stay.
7. Private beach is not private. The beach that shuttle bus took us to was connected to Puka Shell Beach. I am not too sure if the vendors at the PRIVATE BEACH were the employees of hotel, they just kept selling and promoting.
8. Wi-Fi disconnected all the time. Even if we connected luckily, the speed was as slow as snail.
With all the dissatisfactions mentioned above, we decided to shorten our stay, even the Front Office Manager took prompt actions to make our stay slightly better. Front Office Manager handled our concerns professionally and took actions immediately. Even thought, one hard-working, dedicated senior staff can’t change the entire operation of Alta Vista. I deeply believe the top managements have to look into the problems seriously.

We stayed here for 3 nights. There were huge groups of Chinese Mainland tourists. They occupied everywhere including the lobby, pool, and breakfast. The pool is dirty and warm. There were not enough tables during breakfast and needed to wait. Because of free wifi only available at the lobby, the lobby is always full of people. When we arrived the wifi at the lobby was broken down and was unavailable for the whole day. The staff had no smile and unprofessional in handling large crowd or other matters. The free shuttle to/from D'Mall always packed like sardines and had over 15-20 people in a van (a real safety concern).
There was one incident that we were coming back from D'Mall at 11pm and the van was there. We asked the on duty staff (Andrian) when can we leave. Andrain replied to wait for more people. After 25 min, more people came and I asked him again if we can leave, he told me to wait another 5 min. After 5 min, I asked him again, he ignored me and continue to play with his phone. Then I reasoned with him that the van is supposed to schedule leave at 11pm and we (>10 people) have been waiting over 30 min and you just kept playing your phone all the time. Finally the van left. I made this complaint to the hotel front desk and instead of apologize or dealt with the problem, they don't seem to care much. I asked to speak to the manager but I was told he was off duty. There was another incident that I called the front desk for fresh towels but they did not deliver. It is really terrible how this hotel treated their customers and really DON'T care.
I don't recommend this hotel unless you like to be packed like sardines in a van or deal with unprofessional staff who just keep playing with their phone.

From the pictures, we were stoked with the idea of staying at Alta Vista. When we got there, we were very disappointed. The pool was very small and a lot better in pictures. When swimming, you will have a bad view of a construction site. They have free shuttle to D Mall up to 12mn. It was the Labor Day weekend and we were drinking until 3:30am. Going back to the resort, we had to take motorcycle ride, which wasn't allowed to enter the premises. They do not have free pickup from the entrance of the hotel to the rooms. Imagine, walking uphill after a night of drinking! There's no way we are staying here again. The food served for the buffet breakfast was nowhere average! It looks bad and as if they do not want you to eat them.

Dear Mr. Sucgang, I am deeply sorry that your expectations of our infinity pool did not meet as pictured. The construction site facing the hotel is beyond our control but we expect a better view from the pool once it is completed.During the Labor Day weekend, shuttle service was extended from 12 to 2:30 in the morning and the pick up service from the gate to the lobby even up to the room is also available. You just have to ask the security on duty. I have noted your concerns regarding the breakfast and will further investigate. Thank you for your review. Sincerely, Arie S. Sena Hotel Manager

When I first arrived in Boracay, driving past D'Mall, and all the activity, I was sure I made a mistake, and regretted that I chose a hotel away from the main strip. But was I wrong, when we arrived at Alta Vista, we were welcomed by a long, tree lined driveway, illuminated by lights, grand in comparison to the other hotels that were on the main road. The main atrium however was small and a bit disappointing. The decorations were really nothing to comment on. It was clean and had a nice view, leading directly to the infinity pool. They provide free shuttle to and from D'Mall. The shuttle is very frequent, so no worries. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Can't say enough about them. We stayed in the loft, two storey unit. A lot of cupboard space which didn't make any sense to me. It was clean and spacious. I found the staircase in our room was super slippery. I guess they polished the hardwood, stairs included. The food was good too. I mean for the price there was good selection, fresh and abundant. We were there over New Years, the views were spectacular and I'm sure the best views of the fireworks. I would definitely recommend this place to my family and friends, and would go back. Good deal for your money.

If you're staying in Alta Vista and you happen to get sick while on their premises, don't expect to be cared for because they don't even have the cheapest Paracetamol for you even if you offer to pay for it. It happened to us. We had an emergency and asked if they can assist us in getting medications even if we pay extra since their location is so remote from
downtown Bora. End result after waiting, they didnt have anything for us and they didn't even care to ask even just in passing, how our friend was. We just hired a tricycle ourselves and got our medicines which was a stonethrow away from their pick up point.
This is disappointing since they are advertising personalized attentive staff and hassle-free stay. It's a 500+ room hotel/residences and chances are, people can get sick unexpected. It's bad enough they are so remote from the beaches, you feel more isolated because if anything happens to you, all u can do is just hope, pray and do things on your own. And did I mention they have constant power interruption? And some staff gives you cold treatment? I should know, I'm still here as Im writing this because I am booked for 5 days and I can't wait to leave. I will definitely try the other highend beachfront hotels next time.
