It was Friday morning, when we entered the Calypso Resort we were all amazed with it's natural beauty. We were greeted by the curve smiles of the people there. They treated us very well and they are so hospitable. after we had checked in, a young girl ushered us into our room and mind us, our room is so elegant! It has a simple design ,yet, as what i have told you it is elegant. we made a little rest, then my friends and I took a bike. we were all glad as we travel the beautiful place of Bohol. we went back to Calypso Resort wearing smiles and bringing the enjoyment of adventuring Bohol.we also enjoy diving as well as swimming in the pool every night. our stay at Calypso was truly worth remembering and we only wish we could be there again. it was one of the awesome places we had stayed.

This resort is nice place to stay near Alona beach, bungalows are cheaper and nicer compared with the room with air con, i tried each accomodation due to a mistake in booking.....very cheap if u think that with the room they give u a free bike, bikes in bohol are rent ad a middle price of 500 pesos, so is easy to realize how much u save.
The only think that could be better is that sheets sometimes are not in a very good condition.....

If you're looking for a quiet, basic, peaceful and affordable escape from alona beach, this place is the ticket. It isn't fancy, but for the price, and the included motorbike, it shouldn't be.

The rooms are basic, but they include a large bed, ensuite with flushing toilet and cold shower, electrical outlet, wifi, patio area with furniture to sit and read and a fan (one with air con).

For those complaining in the reviews, don't expect 5 star for peanuts, people. 790 or 890 is a bargain when you look at the options in alona.

what it offers for the price is considerable in our opinion.

PROS:
-Quiet, peaceful location.
-Happy, family atmosphere
-The food. Both delicious and affordable compared to alona. Try the Filipino options, particularly sweet and sour fish.
-The included motorbike. A necessity due to location, but freedom to explore this part of bohol on its pretty smooth roads also.
-nice little pool
-quiet rooms
-wifi
-friendly service

CONS:

-Location if you're not familiar with riding a motorbike. If you're here to hang in alona, it's about 5 minutes on the motorbike or 100php tricycle. Walking isn't an option. There is an empty, not especially inviting beach accessible from the resort but everything happens in alona. This could equally be a pro for solitude seekers.
- Millipedes en masse, albeit harmless ones . The staff sweep them away, but while we were there they could've done with a chicken or three!
- lack of room cleaning during stay (3 nights for us)

Location - 4/5 (for peace and quiet)
Cleanliness - 3.5/5
Rooms - 3.5/5
Security - 4/5
Hospitality - 4/5
Price - 5/5

It's just not cheap enough, to be as seedy as it is, with out note.
On arrival a very polite and helpful young fellow, showed us a range of rooms.
We decided on the room
with out a toilet leaking from the waist pipe. Or ripped flooring or the premium room with inclusive ant highway.
Breakfast:
Do you have toast?
No.
Eggs?
No.
Fruit? Cereal?
No.We have bacon sausage, fries,
Coffee?
Yes.
2 coffees please.
Which were quick and refreshing.

The tatty and dangerously under serviced mopeds were free to use. The atemt to charge us for a punctured tube, when it had obviously been used on very low pressure, damaging the valve under breaking.
Thwarted by my girl friend.

The atmosphere is friendly. Familiar. For all the familys we met there, management appear to have rules about proffesional over night guests. I know they were professional as I was quoted a price.

We stayed one night in this 'resort'. The owner was a little bit strange but friendly. The room was basic, dark and smelly. The beach, 5 min walk from the resort isn't really special, it's full of boats and dirt. We used the free motorbike to check other rooms in Alona Beach. So we checked out after one night, and we will never return again!!

This so called resort is a joke. The mattrasses are full of bugs. Breakfast is only served if the owners went to the store to buy eggs. Beach is full of seaweed. The owner is always fighting with his girlfriend, and we witnessed a plate-throwing scene. Most of the visitors are a bunch of loud, drunk Germans. The pool is full of algae. The doors are falling out their hinches as termites are eating the place. This place should be closed by the authorities

Stayed 1 night, had to leave after the first night.
CONS
- someone took a dump in the toilet and left it for us when we checked in
- sheets weren’t changed from the people before us, they were covered in hair literally covered
- staff was really unfriendly and uninviting. (Young kid who took us to the room and then just left, wasn’t sure if we were booked in or not )
- our bathroom had a cockroach in it, then the next morning a frog. Yes a frog I don’t know how.
- our room had a the biggest spider in it I’ve ever seen in my life (see pictures below)
- it cost pesos to use the pool table per game and to use the pool, which you can’t use the pool table anyways cause the kids who love there use it
- air conditioner stopped working at night, never worked again from then on out
- rooms are very damp and moist / musty smelling
- when we checked out they showed our room to someone else but quoted them 100 pesos less than what we paid
- 15 minute walk to Alona beach where you should be staying instead of here
- weird rules posted that they will charge you for everything they can... if you touch the toilet tank or fiddle with it, they will charge you pesos ? Wtf
- you get a free scooter to use while you stay there only from 7-12, if you use it in the afternoon past 12 you pay 50. Pesos per hour

PROS
- hot water worked good

This is an honest review, stay here and find out for yourself

This place u need to avoid. First of all is in a nowhere cut off from everthing and near by beach is the dirtiest u can find in bohol. And well When i went there the place was in some stage of renovatin noisy so much until late. Than well also staid at room 5 up the bar is terible smelly old bed not comfy and than is noisy in day trough renovation and in night as the german owner and his friends start drinkin 8 pm to mayb 3 4 am. The room is terible i thought is near beach sea and can hv some views at least but u not allowed to open the windows. I tried to open it just to hv a look to the view while there is some kind of temperd glas windows tht cant see anythin when is closed, some staff imidatly knocked the door to demand me close the window as the aircon is on. Is realy tht theres a guy always controlin if the windows is closed. I guess he send from the worses swiss or germam owner whos type of rude guy what i can observe when i see how he talk his staff.
Is realy feel ashamed such people come to the philippines own abit property and behave like ... And the motorbikes i never seen more worse bike thn that is better pay a 300 peso near by rental shop thn get free one of this crap bikes. No front breaks, lights and lost the key 2 times as is while drivin fly out from the keylock. Realy so scary to give passport as security for these kind od bikes. Do urself a favor dont handle out ur passport .
I will surely never come back i feel pitty for the staff to work there as they actualy seem nice peopl. Such worses place

Humble place, backpacker style, one of the cheapest around Alona beach and probably the best value for money in there.
I realy don't understand people complaining at this place. What the hell do you expect for a double room for just P700? The hostel has a very nice swimming pool. The surroundings are very nice and quiet. The beach is located just 50 meters distance and the best, you get a FREE motorbike to explore the island.
Yes, the rooms are very simple, not fancy at all, may be a little old but you get what you pay for. Some rooms have A/C. We stayed at the fan room and we were fine. The property is full of palm trees. It's very cute and authentic. What's more the palms make the rooms cool. I will be back.

Being backpackers we are on continual pursuit of the best budget accommodations. After a day of searching Several accommodations we found Calypso, where we got a room for P 770 including a bike. They only have a handful of rooms, so book ahead of time or get on a waiting list like we did (received a room with in two days)! The vibe is incredibly relaxing, staff Very friendly and accommodating, and only 100 meters from the beach. We dove with Rudy who manages the dive shop at Calypso. He was knowledgeable, concerned with safety and a very reliable dive instructor. Diving with Calypso made for a very relaxing stay, wake up have breakfast at the small restaurant on site and then get on the speed boat for a day full of diving! I highly recommend Calypso for your relaxing stay in Alona Beach!!
