The room is over priced, not worth more than 30 US$. all night party under the hotel which does not let you sleep until morning.
Bed mattress is very thin and poor quality, wakeup with back pain.
Very poor value for money.

Hayahay Resort is located directly on the beach.
Clean rooms, very friendly staff. Good food in the restaurant. Restaurant is on the beach and upstairs in the hotel.
Sometimes a bit noisy from the neighbour resort.

Brought my mom to Bohol for a short holiday and stay at Hayahay! Glad we were in the middle of where the fun is. Music every night, BBQ food and fire dancers. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We booked the countryside tour with the resort and it was amazing too!
They've got special packages for room and dives, do ask!

I love how each room has a rack outside to dry off all your stuff after a day out in the sea!

My fiancee and I stayed here for two nights and couldn't ask for a better weekend. Knowing that our flight was going to arrive to Tagbiliran at 9:30am on a Saturday I emailed the hotel a few days prior asking what time we can check in. Within 3 hours I received an email back saying,

"Check In time is usually 2 PM but if the room is not occupied the night before you can check in earlier. But you can store your luggage at the hotel until the room is available."

We arrived to the hotel at 10:30am, the beach was beautiful, the hotel was clean and our room was all ready to go. The room itself was perfect for what we needed. Nothing fancy but it was a good size with a bathroom, closet space, air conditioning, a mini fridge, and a couple complimentary bottles of water.

There is a restaurant on site (actually on the beach) that is really good. You can literally sit on the beach about 20 feet from the water. The pizzas were delicious but our favorite item to order were the fried calamari. Quite possibly the best I've ever had.

Negatives: None of the rooms really have a good view. But why sit in your room when you can sit on the roof top patio or on the beautiful white sand beach of Alona.

Overall Review: Very friendly staff, clean room, GREAT location, good food, and a very good price! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

we stayed for 4nights there..... it was good place, we like it there, but so pricey, even during off-peak season. It has beach front but the view from the view deck is not much.....the location is good. Their price level is for hotels with stars.... not worth it.

Internet didn't work. Wi-fi couldn't connect. Though you can use Jasz's (nearby restaurant) open wi-fi network at Hayahay hotel downstairs tables.
Breakfast is quite small, but good to go. The most reach is American Breakfast (two eggs + two toasts + butter + two slices of ham + 1 banana + juice + a cup of coffee or tea). It costs 200 PHP unless it is included in your room rate. You can also try the European one (flakes + jam + fruits if I remember correct) for about 160 PHP and a few other options.
Toilet sticks easily... Don't through anything into it, even a small piece of toilet paper. Soap and shampoo is provided, but smells terribly. Bring your own ones.
Hairdryer is available for rent: 100PHP per day. Aircon is windowed, so a bit noisy.

Stayed here with a friend from Feb. 17th to 20th, 2011. We arrived at 2:00pm exactly and it took about 20-30mins to check-in because apparently the AC in our room wasn't working so they had to put a new one in. Was a bit frustrated with the wait but in the end it paid off because the AC worked perfectly all throughout our stay and was even too cold at times that we'd have to turn it off.

The room is small but clean. There is a mini bar and you get two bottles of water everyday complimentary. There is a flat screen TV although there were only 13 channels. Star Movies is the only movie channel and you're lucky to find anything else on the other channels... then again are you there to watch TV? The bathroom was clean and a good size. Shampoo and soap are provided in dispensers and there is a water heater. Shower pressure was good but there was one time when I was in the shower the water was completely gone but I waited maybe a minute or two and it came back on. Outside the rooms you are provided with racks to hang your wet suits, towels, etc. Could work on the lighting in the rooms because when the curtains are closed it's pretty dim inside.

The last time I was in Bohol I stayed in Tagbilaran City and the food was really bad. The best food I had during that trip was in Pizza Hut! I wasn't expecting much this time around but I was thoroughly impressed with every meal. I guess there are better cooks on Alona Beach because of the amount of foreigners who visit. Hayahay had the best food by far and the pizzas are REALLY good! The prices are better too than some of the other places we visited.

We paid Php2,800.00/night/room. Unfortunately this price did not include breakfast. I heard that other places offered around the same price that did include breakfast. Must check that out next time. The location of Hayahay is really good too, right next to Oops Bar. Location is not a big problem on this beach though since everything is nearby and right next to each other.

We didn't have any problems with any of the staff. They could be a little bit more conversational with the guests but this isn't uncommon in the Philippines as they tend to be more shy.

I wasn't impressed by the beach. The shoreline is quite small and when it's high tide you best keep to the areas closest to the resorts/restaurants. There was a lot of seaweed and only a few places would rake their beachfront. Very few provided lounge chairs as well. There were also a lot of boats for the divers. Alona Beach is really more for the divers because there's not much else to do rather than eat and lay on the beach.

Although I had a good time here I don't think I will stay on Alona Beach next time. I prefer the beach at Bohol Beach Club.

Right on the beach close by to restaurants, however no noise from nearby bars... We had a pool/garden view room.
Room itself was good, quiet A/C and nice hot shower, also plenty of storage space with shelves.

-We stayed here from 15-18 july 2019 in a group of 5 (added an extra bed to one of the rooms)
-We were allocated Room 8 and 10 which are both on the lower floor on the same level as the reception area. Room 1-7 are on the uppper floor and room 8-11 are on the lower floor.
-OVERALL: The price justifies what u get. Do not expect luxury and flamboyant amenities (there are close to zero) but expect a place where you can get sleep
-ROOM TIPS: Request to avoid room 8 and room 7 if possible. They are at the dark end of the corridor on each level (the resort has 2 levels) and mozzies like to hangout around that corner hence the chance of mozzies entering your room is much higher when you open the door. our friends in room 10 had no issues.
-Room 8 also has toilet floor tiles that are not in the best condition compared to room 10.
-Request for rooms on the upper floor of the hotel because they let more light in and seem less dingy + more airy

PROS:
-very clean rooms for a beachfront hotel and for the price
-drying racks outside each room by the door for you to hang clothes
-complimentary water everyday
-shower heater works and with good water pressure
-location is amazing!!! not a "quiet and romantic" location but great for young people like us. super near good beachside restaurants (we recommend oasis restaurant and the bohol bee farm restaurant, avoid the ISIS thai restaurant) and also 5mins walk from convenience stores selling alcohol, snacks (including 7-eleven and mcdonalds) etc. Note that the hotel is located along the beachfront and is about a 3min walk from the road where your transport will drop you off.
-we were actually planning on staying at one of the more secluded resorts (cliffside resort) but they did not have dates available. hence we booked this hotel instead and boy am i glad we did. it would save alot of transport costs as we would not have to constantly take tricycles to the beachfront where all the restaurants are for dinner!
-aircon works :) very important! haha + room has a fan too! turn on both if you're feeling hot and sweaty
-rooms are cleaned and made everyday. on the first day when we entered room 8 the floor was somehow really oily (? someone must have split tanning oil or something) and on day 2 we requested for them to clean it and they did clean it really well!

CONS:
-expect the room to feel a little more humid because it is a hotel by the sea
-personally, my pillow was really soft and i hated it... but i should have asked for a change of pillow. the staff are very willing to change linens if you ask. i asked for an extra blanket sheet because my friend kept stealing my blanket thru the night and they gave it to me really quickly without any fuss
-toilet flush is very weak in both our rooms. need to press and hold the flush for really long until everything is flushed in. avoid throwing any toilet paper inside due to high clogging risk
-no hairdryer
-lighting in room 8 was quite bad. it's mostly dim yellow light and there's something about dim yellow light that makes everything seem more dingy. Room 10 had white light which was brighter. TIP: open up the curtains to make the room brighter!!!
-there is only a ramp up to the hotel area (above the restaurant) and it is really quite steep so for older folks/those with children please beware and assist your travelling crew as needed. we are in our early 20s so we didn't really mind.
-the place for you to "wash your feet" before going up the ramp to the hotel area is merely a bucket of smelly water which we stopped using after awhile, so we had to rush and rinse our feet once we entered our rooms (room floor became a little sandy)

We arrived at Hayahay after spending 2 weeks in Palawan where we stayed in some really nice resorts, so on arriving we were a little bit hesitant because of the older, tired room (and no view of anything really) but as it turned out the location made up for all of the shortfalls. Just a short note on transportation, we had arrived at Cebu airport and paid P270 for a taxi to ferry terminal 1 where we were charged P10 for the taxi to come into the port with our luggage which was great. We opted for the open air class (P450) rather that the inside tourist class (P500) which provided a covered seating area and is a good choice. You also are charged the port fee P25 pp and a baggage fee P50. On arrival at Tagbilaran we arranged a tricycle to Alona Beach for P300. Note that you need to carry your baggage about 100m along the sandy track to the hotel from where you are dropped off. On arrival the hotel staff were not overly friendly but still ok - I had to keep asking about the wifi and they would reset the router, but in reality don't expect any great internet connection here. The rooms are old and a bit worn out, but still clean and comfortable and a little cramped. Its all about location location location - the hotel is right amongst everything that you would need - there are small shops nearby for snacks, beers, etc, plenty of restaurants / bars to choose from, and you are right on the beach as soon as you walk out of the hotel. It is surprisingly quiet at night (no roads) apart from the music next door, but thankfully it was always shutdown before 11pm each night. A quick word on wifi - most of the bars / restaurants have wifi and it is so much better than the hotel. There are a few bars offering happy hour with beers for P50 and cocktails P100 so worth a visit even if it is only for the wifi .....Most of the nearby restaurants are relatively expensive as you would expect - if you shop around it is surprising that some restaurants charge so much more for a particular dish, so check a few out depending upon what you want to eat. We didn't eat at Hayahay as we found it overly expensive for their seafood dishes. There is also a 7-11 nearby and a McDonalds under construction ...... Note that on the corner where you are dropped off in Alona Beach there are many touts selling boat tours, transfers, motor bikes, etc. I chatted to a few and this is where I organised a motorbike to hire as well as our transfer back to Tagbilaran pier for the ferry back to Cebu. I also organised a private boat to take us to the Balicasag Marine Sanctuary for P2000 (whole boat) plus entrance fee P250pp - if you need to rent a snorkel and mask it will cost you P150pp. There are many people trying to sell you a similar boat tour but even though you may save a little it looks to be very very crowded. This marine park is definitely worth the effort to visit. Even though this hotel has its drawbacks, I think that it is a good place to base yourself for a few days and is of reasonable value.
