Detailed Reviews
I have stayed at the older building many times. This was our first time staying in the new building. The rooms are tiny. Very clean. Not vey comfortable. I have no idea what they were thinking. So much space wasted that could have been used to make the rooms bigger. The staff are amazing. The food is excellent. I will stay in the older building from now on.

Very friendly staff. Rooms were not as good as hotel rooms but the property is exactly in front of the beach. Very accessible to bars if you want to enjoy the night life. Rooms are ok if you are looking for a place just to sleep while you are away all day exploring Bohol.

I really need a lot to rate a place as poor but to me, Genesis divers, especially the Guest House, deserves nothing more.
I have not much to say when it comes to the diving part, although I've been surprised that my certification level was not checked. I wouldn't qualify their equipment as in good condition, far from that.
Accommodation now. To start with, my booking was not registered while I've been in communication with the owner for a little while. The price of the room varies depending on the number of dives, great, but I couldn't dive as much as I wanted as 1-there were not enough guests so one trip was cancelled and 2- I've been "kicked off"because my room was booked by other guests! When I protested saying that I booked too, I've been told I can take another, more expensive, room, so I just left!
The Staff is not helpful at all and I would even say a bit rude. I don't need to be treated like a princess but I am still a customer and expect a min service level.

Stayed here in early January of 2016, for 3 nights. For $52 a night you get workers with no personality, no smiles and zero professionalism, the room was about 14 sqm, dark and plain old creepy. The bed was a foam on wood with wooden legs, hot water was good. The aircon was so weak it had a hard time blowing air, the ceiling fan was so slow i saw mosquitos taking a rest on the blades. the safe was big enough for your wallet. I don't recommend this place to Hawaii people, there are a few other resorts next to this place but will cost a few scripts more. The WiFi only works where they check you in.
About the beach, the sand was ok but the water is not swimmable, to shallow with grass growing. Overall Alona beach is overrated, nothing to brag about also can not compare to Boracay, Bolinao, white beach Puerto galera.
Alona beach is over rated, maybe a 2 star location and this resort maybe a 1.
Price range for eating is 79 peso for inasal to 850 peso for decent seafood buffet at sea breeze cafe. Gota try everything at least once.

Small hotel with all the necessities for a great price! 2 hour super cat ferry from Cebu port to the city of Tagbilaran+35 min to resort by taxi+5 min walk to hotel--Directly on Alona beach. Quiet, relaxing. Beach chairs on rooftop. Good food there, and at others nearby (Isis at one end for Thai and Alona Tropical's Baybayou on the other end for Filipino cuisine-try the Bohol Sling, ask for Angel) Used Genesis Divers for 2 dives to Balicasag from the Panglao beach side, they were excellent, took care of setting up and transporting all of our equipment (unlike some we were watching-divers had to wear their equipment from their small boat on their return), Fredo was a great guide! Alona Vida next door had music nightly. One day we took the island tour-private taxi-Albert-who drove us to Hayahay-ride and tours were fantastic-at our pace, took pix for us, etc. for a great price (US$60 for both of us) (If you're interested in his #s, please message me. We also had him take us back to the port. Organic ice cream from Bohol bee farm/cafe, yum!

I have been traveling to Philippines on holiday 6 times per year for the past 3 years.
This hotel would rate as the worse hotel i have been to, and believe me i stayed in cheaper and more expensive hotels than this one.
I stayed there 8 months ago but i still remember how awfull it was.
Rooms are the very cheap motel style. Not much space to put your clothes. But the service is by far what i remember as being the worse. The owner and personel are very rude and unpleasant, which rarely happens in Philippines.
1star is too much for this hotel. Stay away.

This hotel was very nice and worth the price. When we got there we had to carry are luggage across the beach to the hotel, that part I did not like. The hotel has a cart that can carry the luggage, I would suggest someone stand by the bags, while the other person goes to the hotel to get someone to come get the bags. The hotel room was a very comfortable size, showers can get as warm as you like. I regret that I only booked for a day, if you want to be beach side, I would suggest just book the room for as long as you would like to stay at the beach. Next to the beach, if you like staying out late and partying, around 11 there is nothing going on. The hotel is worth the price and stay.
