Stayed one week at Paboreal. Found it impossible to fault any aspect of the stay. All staff are very proffesional and go above and beyond to help in any way. The hotel is impressively well maintained and spotlessly clean. Food is of a high standard and reasonably priced. Rooms are very spacious and well furnished with very comfortable beds and each having a large private balcony. Lovely clean swimming pool and sunbathing area. This hotel comfortably meets any European standard of a 4 star hotel at a price which is very very reasonable. I wouldnt hesitate to stay here whenever lm in Puerto Princesa.

We visited Puerto Princesa exactly a year ago and stayed on this beautiful place. We cannot fault anything on this place, the staff were very helpful and hospitable they go above and beyond to help. The place is very clean and the room that we stayed in for a week was well furnished and very spacious. Stayed on this place with my husband and two teenage children, the boy particularly is very hard to pleased but all I heard from him was praises to this place. According to them this place is underrated, they haven’t been to any place with such friendly staff. The breakfast is simple but my boy said it was insanely good. And to top it up, the owner was very accommodating and advised us where’s the best places to buy pasalubong.
If we plan to go back to Palawan, we would definitely choose to stay in Paboreal again.

We travel by ear, which means last minute decisions where to go, to eat and where to sleep. The day before arriving in Puerto Princessa we checked the internet for hotels. Paboreal Boutique Hotel looked very appealing so we decided to book a few nights. We wanted a quiet location not so far from the beach.
They were at the airport to welcome us in a warm and friedly way. At the hotel we got a welcome drink and met the other staffmembers and the co- owner. The staff is very friendly and eager to assist us in any way.
The hotel is beautiful and very clean, the swimmingpool is gorgeous and very relaxing after traveling or a day out. The rooms are very spacious and the internet is very fast which was much appreciated by us.
We wanted to travel to El Nido for some days and the owner helped us with information, suggestions and arranged the journey for us. We were picked up at the hotel and delivered at the hotel. Best hotel to hotel service ever. Thanks again Coco.
We were able to store one suitcase at Paboreal Boutique Hotel which was convenient. When we came back a very nice surprise was waiting, on top of the warm welcoming and the welcome drink, the room was ready, our suitcase in the room and a very very beautiful welcome card, thank you again Ika!
Everything must come to an end so also our stay in Paboreal Boutique Hotel. We came as guests but said goodbye as friends. Many thanks to Coco, Lito, Ika and staff, you made our stay wonderful.

Paboreal is an oasis from the hustle and bustle of Puerto Princesa. Whether you are in Puerto Princesa for a night (heading to El Nido) or for a few days (Honda Bay and Underground river) make Paboreal your base.

Searching through TripAdvisor don’t be tempted by the photos of the bigger hotels/“resorts” because they can be deceiving. Paboreal’s photos may not be impressive, but I really think one should give this gem of a hotel a try.

Number 1: impressed by the courteous staff and attentive owner. It was super difficult to find non dairy milk in the city, but the owner went to the market to buy us soy milk! The smiles of everyone also added to a lovely experience.

Number 2: cleanliness

Number 3: simply quiet from the chaos of the centre.

If you are wanting some city action, Paboreal is less than 10 minutes away by tricycle.

Wow I can't say enough about this little gem. The super friendly staff are incredible and totally devoted to your needs. The facility is absolutely spotless and sparkling clean. The rooms are big, the beds are comfortable and the air-conditioning is quiet and cold. The swimming pool is shaped like a grand piano and is also spotlessly clean. Close to the airport yet quiet and a shuttle service to and from airport. This little boutique hotel has it all.

We wanted to check out from the hotel that we had originally booked and were looking for a new room almost in the middle of the night. Just before midnight we arrived in Paboreal and we were actually allowed to see the room before we decided to stay, as our experience from the original hotel was not so good.

We were so happy that we chose Paboreal; the room was nicely decorated and very clean, also the air-conditioning was working perfectly. We were also satisfied with the quite small breakfast that the hotel is offering. In addition, the pool area and the whole garden is beautiful and very well taken care of. What I liked the most, is however the superfriendly staff and the owners of Paboreal.

OK to begin with, Puerto Princesa is no a tourism destination. Explored it quite thoroughly and won't be back. But if going there, Paboreal Boutique Hotel gets 2 thumbs up just as a fun friendly place. Not as a fancy place, just comfortable and memorably charming for some tastes. Everyone is friendly enough and really have no complaints.

Just one white tourist over breakfast being shamelessly sexual with his same-sex lover was a truly over the top gross yet no one objected on staff. Not the owner either. Regardless of one's orientation, groping and feeling sexually in the dining area with zero regard for other diners is just horrid behaviour and spoils the stay. This specific white guy was evidently friends with the owner as well as with his thoroughly groped local lover -- it was a serious annoying embarrassment. If it were man-woman I'd have the precise same complaint. Gross is gross. I only mention it because the shameless white guy is evidently friends with the owner who perhaps considered it OK? He's simply wrong, it's not OK in any culture in the world. Its not a reason to stay away, it's hopefully a freak event but the permission to do it is of concern. Trust me: I'm no prude either!

The owner is a sweet friendly French-American ex-pianist who is charming and welcoming. Ex-pianist due a medical issue but his hotel has a piano themed swimming pool (more a dipping pool, not big enough for serious laps) and piano-themed stairs ... which is perhaps a bit tacky but its fun, so why not?

The room is fine, not 'major hotel chain fancy' by any stretch but clean, functional and everything works. Bring your own soap (we did fortunately), the teensy bars they provide and just silly bordering on uselessly small. The shower is fine. Bed is comfortable. It all works and I'd definitely go back if Puerto Princesa were on the itinerary,

Breakfast is excellent, specially-made eggs, ham, toast, juice and superb coffee. Hey he's French! They don't do lunch but you can buy those noodle cups and snacks and do your own thing. Dinner is just OK, passable. Not recommended dining unless its too much trouble to go out.

Going out involves calling a motorised trike or taxi or car rental. I had a car rental and was glad. Rentals online are reasonably priced.

There is a superb seafood place maybe 2 km away -- the name escapes me right now but it's evidently famous in town and THAT is where to eat! Really excellent waterfront seafood and hugely popular. We went there times and loved it.

We used Paboreal for a few days as a base and rented a car to drive the Palawan island north & south. Glad we did. Once. Not twice. South just forget it, nothing there to see. North was actually a fun 2-day trip, 6 hours each way to El Nido. If you like 2nd-world driving, which I do being an old hand ...

I recommend most people should fly straight to El Nido -- EL NIDO IS DEFINITELY A WORLD CLASS DESTINATION! There are direct flights from Manila that are way more expensive but worth it and better than 5 hours drive from Puerto Princessa. See my separate review of The Last Frontier resort its a totally different matter!

This was a pleasant surprise considering the affordable price. Enrico, the owner, was superb -- very gracious, welcoming, offering suggestions on the local tours, and even serving some guests their breakfasts. Service was great, and they go out of their way to make your stay pleasant. They provide free water and beach towels if you go on tours. Being served cold water while swimming at the pool (without us asking for it) was an added touch. Rooms are spacious, with comfortable beds, clean, modern, with a view of the pool and the lovely garden. The trees in the horizon (from the second floor) are a welcome respite. It's away from hustle and bustle of the city center, but near the airport. They don't serve lunch, but only a few 10 minutes away from the nearest mall and restaurants. The artwork in the hotel and its eco-friendly practices are also noteworthy. Enrico and the staff make you feel at home. Definitely a fantastic stay.
