If you and your family are ever traveling to the Philippines and you happen to pass thru Puerto Princesa, Michelle Pension is the place for you to make some wonderful family memories and be taken cared of by a wonderful host and staff. The owner of Michelle Pension is a wonderful lady whom they call Tita. She’s very sweet and loving and took care of all our needs. Traveling around the Philippines you have to be very careful with the food and water, but as careful as we tried to be with all the different places that we visited and ate at, we still got the stomach bug. One day my husband got really sick and Tita was so kind to make him a special Filipino style chicken porridge soup. My daughter also got the stomach bug and Tita drove us personally to the ER and stayed with us for a few hours by her side. She is such a sweet lady! Every morning she cooked us breakfast which was included with our stay. She cooked whatever we were hungry for. My kids wanted French toast, she made them French toast. My kids wanted pancakes, she made them pancakes. And we had fresh fruit and eggs every morning with breakfast. I really enjoyed the Filipino style breakfast which is fried fish, rice, and egg. Michelle Pension is great for family’s with young children and it’s a very safe environment. Our daughters really enjoyed the swimming pool! There’s a waterfall and numerous of waterspouts spraying into the pool. There’s a lot of unique character to the place and a wonderful garden with lots of flowers and fruits. Michelle Pension is not a super fancy place, but the room was clean with AC, the ambiance was great, and it was perfect for our needs. Thank you Tita and staff for your love and warmth. We had a wonderful time in Puerto! You are truly a Gem!! - Mahalo and Aloha from the Sempio family in Hawaii!!!

Having spent 2 days in Sibaltan we had to check out of our accommodation due to getting ill and having no air conditioning. We then spent a night in El Nido in an air conditioned room and felt somewhat better. So of to Calitang beach and the illness returned with a vengeance so again we checked out and returned to the air conditioned property in El Nido we had been staying and after 5 days of recuperating we could no longer tolerate the noise levels there so we decided to go back to Puerto Princessa for our last 3 days before flying home to the UK. It was now imperative that we found somewhere quite with air conditioning and after reading TripAdvisor reviews we decided on Michelle pension. The first thing we noticed that unlike EVERY property in Palawan they DIDN'T have dogs. What a relief as they are ALL flea riddled and spend their whole day gnawing away at their backsides or barking at anything that moves. Michelle pension is enormous and the rooms are set way back from the road so that no traffic noise is heard. There is the odd bark from neighbouring gardens and a cock making himself heard but well within tolerable levels(and trust me I don't do noise) ! Now then the room. It had a shower which wasn't too clever but upon request it was dealt with immediately and worked without issue for the remainder of our stay. The air conditioning was fine and we had tv. The room could have fit 4 people comfortably but we had a room each to ourselves so ample space ! The pool was large by any standard but was slightly cloudy at the deeper end. Tita who runs the place for her daughter Michelle dealt with all personal requests from me (I am very pedantic) with immediate effect. From sorting out our airport transfer (free of charge) to giving my room an extra spray of insect repellent (I'm very susceptible) and giving me some mosquito repellent cream and putting an anti mosquito device in my room. Again all without charge. You might be getting a picture here that you will be very well looked after and indeed you will be. We was allowed to store our drinks in the kitchen refrigerator as we didn't book a room with a fridge and breakfast was served at our request (9am most mornings). Eggs on French toast sunnyside up (that would be her Jacksonville, Florida connection). All the staff were friendly and helpful from Naomi & Femme to the lads who worked there also. There was a birthday party on one of the days by the pool whilst we was already there. At no stage did anyone ask us to leave the area. HOWEVER after listening to the lady who was singing after hearing a few songs we decided to move ourselves !!! If Vincent Van Gogh was still alive he would have chopped his other ear off !!! Robinson's mall is a 10 min tricycle ride away (40 pesos) and is a fabulous shopping centre for ALL your needs. All in all if you want a quite place to stay near the airport then you will struggle to get better than Michelle pension. 5 out of 5 for me thank you !!!

pros: Our room was spacious. There was plenty of room for all four luggage bags we brought. I especially liked the small little touches like having a tall mirror attached to a clothes closet. The wifi was fast and the property was spacious. I enjoyed walking around the garden and seeing all the flowers. The place is especially nice at night with all the Christmas-like lights lighting up the trees. They had a nice kids playground too. I also loved the huge pool. My favorite thing though has to be the pancake breakfast. I couldn't persuade any of the filipinos with me to order it. They stuck with the filipino breakfast every time. I hear it was delicious too. It was nice to listen to the water fall sculpture while we eat. The pension house is also located 2 minutes from two really great restaurants. "Ka Inato" and "DJ Balcony and Restro" were both great choice for dinner. Also it was only 10 minutes to Robinson's mall. Lastly it was a great place to sleep because it was quite at night. cons: The hot water shower was too hot on the first night. No matter what setting I changed it to, I couldn't get it the right temperature. It was a little better the next night after they fixed it. I would have liked the bathroom to be a little bigger. Like most of the pension houses in Puerto you leave the paved road and go down a dirt road for a minute or less. Those dirt roads quickly become a muddy road. Also most of the dirt roads could use better lighting. Hopefully the city improves both the roads and lighting.

Stayed for 3days and 2nights Location: A bit far from the main city Room: It was ideal for family and big groups, very spacious. Wifi and television was not working every morning. We had to approach a staff to fix it. Hot shower was also not working. Signal of the television was bad. Airport transportation & Breakfast: 3 thumbs up!! :) We just ask if there's available fried fish for breakfast and they made it possible. Thank you very much for that! They also serve fruits. Thanks to the owner who drove the van to the airport. She was very accommodating. Guest service: They allow us to have a late check out without any charges. Swimming pool: It was bad. There were a lot of flies and dirt swimming around. My dad initiate to clean it,so we can swim. The staff saw my dad, but they never stopped him neither helped him.

It was a spur-of-the-moment trip so we decided on Michelle Pension House based on the consistency of TripAdvisor reviews. This is a small budget hotel, trying their best to provide every guest the “home-away-from-home” feeling. All my emails/text messages were promptly replied to by Noemi. Free airport transfer is provided. We did not experience any hassle from the time Aris picked us up at the airport. Upon arrival, he was nice enough to pass by Badjao Restaurant (near airport) so we can reserve for lunch before our first tour. Tita, the owner, is an amusing lady. She entertains guests while doing chores at night and early morning. She personally prepared our breakfast, her assistant Noemi asked what we wanted a day before. She added breakfast surprises, like dried fish (tuyo) and fried bananas. One afternoon, steamed sweet potatoes were waiting for us after a tour. Tita operates her own tour company, so a hotel + tours package was convenient especially for an unplanned, first trip to Puerto Princesa. We had the pleasure of exploring the sites everyday with Rose, our very energetic and experienced tour guide. Tita/Noemi also did the reservations for our dinner at Kalui (another review). However, there are some cons and much to improve on. First, location is a bit far from the city center (where the good restaurants are) so trike fares are additional costs, really expensive especially at night when trikes charge a premium; not to mention the inconveniences of cramp space, bumpy ride and safety concern of a long trike ride through the highway. Expect heavy traffic going in and out of the city on weekdays especially during rush hour. I observed there are many budget accommodations near the airport/city center. We had tours everyday, visitors do not need expensive accommodation. Towels/soaps were not ready for the confirmed number of persons; no problem our requests were immediately given. Towels smelled clean, fresh from the laundry shop; the texture was a little coarse though. Toiletries include only a small soap and tissue rolls (not an issue, it's always good to bring own brand). The pillow is too thin, almost no texture. The aircon plus ceiling fan cannot make our room cold enough, but relatives in another room said theirs is OK. Hot water temperature is not adjustable and pressure is low. My actual rating would have been a 3.5. Would I recommend it to friends, yes of course!

Greetings from Canada! Our stay at Michelle Pension was one that we will never forget. The staff was absolutely amazing and accommodated all of our needs. The owner/manager, nicknamed "Tita" makes you feel right at home, even picking us up at the airport herself. Noemi (front desk associate) and Arish (our travel guide) went above and beyond and made our trip worthwhile, so please look for them when you book! The only minor issue was that the wifi was sometimes slow and disconnected but over all, we enjoyed our stay and would love to come back! Thank you Michelle Pension & staff!
