if u want a very authentic palawan experience u can stay here with an elderly retired couple who rear chickens and pet parrots. you'll feel like you are living with filipino relatives. its a little far from city centre so youll need to take a tryke all the time unless you like to walk. near food areas but its dark on the road at night so unless youre up for that its better to book somewhere in town if you dont like the quietness of the place. room is sufficient for a quiet good rest away from noise and bustle.
Thank you to the Butterfly Totem guesthouse team who made my friend and I feel so welcomed when we arrived in Puerto Princesa. We had a private room with en-suite which was great for us before a long drive to El Nido or before / after a flight. We arrived late so they organised dinner for us, as well as the Underground River Tour and they even drop you at the airport when needed. Great guesthouse, good breakfast and a lovely couple always there to help - 100% recommend for anyone that wants a homely stay in Puerto Princesa. Thank you!!
In February I booked and paid for a room and an overnight stay for 3 people here at Butterfly Totem Guesthouse. But when we came here they were not aware that we had a reservation because they did not have rooms for 3 people. I showed the booking confirmation on my cell phone, but it made no difference. The receptionist was in doubt and called the owner. My wife talked to her for 15 minutes. As the conversation developed into a discussion about whether we had a reservation or not, we chose to book another hotel nearby. I asked if I could get my deposit refunded, but they declined on the grounds that I could not cancel my order. I do not understand how it is related that I have paid a non-existing reservation and that I could not get my money refunded. Subsequently, I have talked to the booking portal where I had booked the room and they have refunded my deposit. I have difficulty in saying anything positive about this experience and on the basis of our experience here I can unfortunately not recommend Butterfly Totem Guesthouse to anyone…
We stayed here while in Puerto Princesa. For its price we got 2 bunk beds, 2 single beds and 1 double bed. The room was good for 8 people and we got free breakfast. It's a steal! Plus the owners were really nice and accommodating.
We really enjoyed our short stay at Butterfly Totem Guesthouse. The owner was very polite and friendly, offering us lots of advice about the area and helping us to make a restaurant reservation at for the evening. The room and terrace area was bright and cheerful. Free water refills were available and the breakfast was good. The guesthouse is down a track off the main road but it is only 2 minute walk to reach lots of restaurants and bars nearby. Highly recommended.
Very bad experience !! Room with air conditioning that does not work, dirty room, no cleaning. And the worst was the shower water was brown and smelled of rust !!! Flush that does not work! At breakfast we were served the leftover toast at the other cleints of the jam on it. Hotels are right next to much better quality and cheaper!
Butterfly Totem is a nice, affordable hotel that provided what we needed. They serve Filipino breakfast (can't remember if additional or included) and serve it at the agreed-upon time. We also arranged our Sabang/Underground River Tour with them. Unfortunately, this was cancelled due to weather so they were also very helpful advising us on what we can do (which ended up being the Puerto Princesa city tour). After returning from Sabang, they graciously allowed us to use the room even past our check-out time in order to prepare for our flight. Other reviews mention the friendly owner but unfortunately we didn't meet her. Her staff represented her very well though. The hotel itself is nicely decorated with a lot of plants and a couple of very talkative and amusing birds. We stayed in the family room and it was quite spacious for what we paid. The hotel can be a little hard to find when dark and without GPS. It's located on this small unpaved road off of the main road (Manalo). You would need to walk on this road to Manalo in order to catch a tricycle. It's not that bad though, you'd just need to do some maneuvering around some puddles if it was raining. It is also very close to the airport.…
We stayed in this place for two nights. We prefered this place because its location close to airport. The owner lady was very nice and helpful. We had some problems and she helped us, she made phone calls and etc. Breakfast was okay, rooms are not big but enough. The only thing that we didnt like is cleanliness.
Basic but clean and really sweet ladies who run the place. Our luggage went missing during our flight and they were really helpful with helping us track it down. Love the jungle vibe of this place and it’s close to good food and the airport!
We stayed for 2 nights. Everything was great and the staff went out of their way to accommodate our needs. Very clean and nice property. Close to the airport. The only downside is the access road (not paved). I recommend staying here.
