If you looking for luxury, look somewhere else....but if you are looking for an unforgettable experience you are in the right place . Hotel is situated inside the tropical jungle , rooms are really big in Philippino style and perfectly clean (you sleep and you hear all nature’s sounds) and the food is really good ( the best he had so far in the Philippines) . The beach is 15-20 walk down a path into jungle (what an experience)and the staff are very helpful and kind (they helped us a lot with an accident we had on a motorbike) Definitely I recommend and looking forward to go back

We stayed in the Rambutan villa, it’s the furtherest down the hill but it does have superb views of the sunsets (even better than in the restaurant). This room isn’t for everyone (but please don’t be put off) due to the steep walk up to the restaurant/pool etc. no air con, fridge, kettle or tv and the shower is only lukewarm. The food was ok but breakfast wasn’t the best.

On the plus side it’s a great experience to stay here and only 25 mins from the Sabang underwater river. All the staff are very helpful, they provide a large flask of hot water for drinks, and 2 fans. The massages were the best we had in Philippines and not expensive. We have never hired a scooter on holiday before but another guest recommended them as the roads were so quiet and easy to use. We took the larger scooter which was only P850 a day (approx £13) and it was a pleasant ride into Sabang where we did the caves and zip wire and we got there early before the queues.

The 2 ladies on reception were brilliant, they work really long hours but couldn’t do enough to help us.

The sunsets from our balcony were superb, not just visually but the sounds of the jungle come to life at sunset.

If you are happy swap a few creature comforts for a beautiful location which is off the beaten track I would recommend staying here for a few night. If you aren’t able to walk up a steep hill book a room close to the top.

Despite not having actually been to the resort (due to my personal logistical challenges), Romain, the general manager of the property, really has done such an amazing job being helpful and professionally representing the property that I feel compelled to express my gratitude and recommend this resort to anyone travelling.

Planning a trip to Philipines has been extremely difficult from what I have experienced, 90% of the accommodation and transportation options have very delayed responses (more than 3+ days) IF at all responsive, and until I have spoken with Romain I have been frustrated for the most part.

Romain on the other hand responds inquiries within 12 hours with lots of details, is very informative and helpful, and he made me feel welcomed before I even arrive. He was able clearly explain how he can arrange airport pick up, the underground river trip, and a ride to El Nido with details on the itinerary and logistics, and I can't appreciate him enough for his time and patience that is not found anywhere else I tried.

I look forward to actually visiting one day with lots of friends and families and stay long enough to enjoy the jungle and their private beach fully!

Amazing family owned and run eco-resort in the middle of the Palwan jungle. Facilities are beautifully built into the side of the mountain and resort is fully solar powered. We swam in the rain water pool, drank fresh water and thoroughly enjoyed our three days relaxing and trekking in the jungle. The resort arranged tours for nearby attractions including the Underground River and Kito-Kitu (Firefly) watching as well as our airport transfers. The rooms are beautifully appointed and comfortable. We look forward to visiting again. 💕

My family and I spent three nights here, and we loved it. The location was spectacular, in the middle of a jungle. We watched monkeys from our balcony, and were awakened in the morning by the singing of birds. The bungalow we stayed in was spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed the food in the restaurant, and we also had a very nice massage. We originally had a two-night reservation, but we liked it so much we extended for an additional night.

Location
The retreat is located near the village of Bueno Vista, about 1hr15m drive from Puerto Princesa airport. Hotel provide private transportation at 1800php each way. Sabang Beach with attractions such as the Underground River is about 40 drive minutes away. The area is in a secluded Jungle on a hill side. There is a 15min path downhill to a bay with a small beach, the hotel has other pathways thru the jungle to the spring water as well. It’s all done well with most having ceramic pathways but also offtrack treks. Due to heavy rain and tiredness did not get to see, but was told you can see Monkeys. The local village offers the odd stall to buy snacks but not much else.
Room
The room Villa ‘Rapitik’ was really nice & comfortable. Unique design built by locals to compensate the high heat in summer with special double roofs. The room offers a large bedroom with a comfortable bed & mellow warm lit bamboo floor lamps either side along with garnished tree stumps as bedside tables. There is a small desk & two large water jugs (safe spring water) with cups. A TV is offered but only includes 1 local channels in Filipino, others channels seemed to be locked. Plenty of plug sockets, a size desk, large floor fan & a safe. Plenty of windows, all with mosquito screens.
A side room offers plenty of open hangers for clothes & luggage rack. This is also where the sink is, creatively done with stones. The tap water is natural since they collect huge tanks of rain water. This is also used for the shower & toilet area. Very spacious but only cold water is offered. Given the location & the focus on green eco approach, it seemed fine especially when very hot. Amenities though are slim with a shampoo sachet & basic supermarket brand soap, would recommend they consider local natural soap or dispensers with better products. Therefore suggest bring your own shower gels & lotion. There is no AC in the room but it was not that hot, if needed a tall large fan is placed inside room.
The highlight of this circular hut is by far the outside covered area that makes up a full surrounding balcony. Very much enjoyed sleeping in the super comfy wide wooden hammocks. Slept in them most of the night enjoying the quiet jungle ambience. There is also a great view of the sea & the mountain side thru the jungle trees.
So relaxing with sound of nature especially when it rains at night.
The balcony also includes a straw sofa arm chairs, & dining table for two. Plus an outside sink to clean say shoes. But the two hammocks lying there is pure relaxation & my favourite part of this room. It also has artistic decor & much effort has been put into the detail & design. All from talented locals in the area. This eco retreat has a system of collecting rain water along the mountain side to tanks below each villa that are unnoticeable. The whole system is impressively designed & along with solar energy make this concept very self sufficient.
The only weakness is the lack of amenities, so bring your own shower gel, dental kit, ideally a torch & an umbrella. Whilst resort is well lit, if you go for a walk to beach for say sunset you will need it to get back so would advise bringing a torch.
Facilities
The hotel offers free secure WIFI up to 600mb but this only work in the restaurant, lobby, bar & smoking area at the top of the hill. The rooms are sporadically located down the hill side but only short uphill climb up the lane or steps to get to that area. It’s ok but wouldn’t rely on it for say work. Phone reception is also poor in villa with waves of service connection now and then. This is the case in most of the remote areas in Palawan island.
For catering there is one restaurant that offers quite an extensive menu local dishes, more international as well as comfort food plus plenty of appetisers. The food is reasonably priced & tasted ok. Service can be a little slow though but staff are pleasant. Breakfast had around 6 fixed choices of which they want you to order the night before, so hey can prepare it at set time for you. Quite spicy but fresh tasting omelette comes with toast & banana. Enjoyable & good quantity.
There is a large pool that is covered, suitable for laps with wooden sun loungers. A play room is offered with pool tables & darts. Plus a separate bar area.
They have their own mopeds for rental, new & powerful 2-strokes for 600php a day. Used one as the location is quite remote. Tours can also be arranged with a clear guide of different excusions offered. They also have a spa with massages that cost 600php, it was fairly relaxing in its own dedicated hut.
Staff
Staff are very friendly & consistent, great talks with the pleasant Dutch owner, the French manager, to the local restaurant & cleaning staff. Happy & welcoming atmosphere. Did a superb job cleaning room, hanging clothes etc, better than some 5star chain hotels. Staff really maintain this property keeping everything very clean. Definably the best services from all the hotels I’ve stayed at in Philippines.
Will defiantly come again. The atmosphere is very meditative , serene & peaceful, a world deep in nature & tranquility. Suitable for those that like to meditate or be one with nature, or just like me, to chill & have the option to sleep on a covered hammock outdoors in the fresh air of the jungle.

Even prior to check-in the Manager was already very responsive to my communications. Roman accommodated my special requests for a little welcome surprise for my partner to be set up in our villa with a special hand made card. He also facilitated the transport to pick us up from the airport. Everything was a breeze from landing to check-in. We arrived a couple of hours earlier than the check-in time and yet we were ushered in as our villa was all ready. Roman, the manager, personally led us to our villa with the view of the sea through the lush towering trees.

Within a couple of minutes and few gulps of the chillded San Miguel Beer Pale Pilsen waiting for us, we were awashed with utter relaxation and stillness that can only be expressed by our quiet grins of mixed excitement and awe.

A real experience to stay in this amazing place which is 100% off the grid, eco-conscious, and creating all its own electricity and renewable resources. The rooms are massive in size including very large balconies with stunning views of the mountains and sea. Ours was the Rapitik and at 80sqm was perfect for the two of us. The rooms and all common areas are kept very clean and are simple in decoration but positively perfect for the setting. It is a true experience staying in the jungle, and in my view very luxurious. That said, please note there is no hot water in the rooms, nor are there air conditioners ... neither of which I found to be a problem. With the fans provided the rooms were airy and cool enough ... with loads of cross ventilation across the open windows with very effective mosquito screens installed. The cool showers I found to be refreshing and not a problem. The GM Romain Metaye was extremely helpful and accommodating to all our questions and requests. On the property there is a 25min hike down to a private beach which is untouched and pristine. There are also jungle walks on the property. The resort has a fantastic covered pool as well and the spa for massages is highly recommended. I had three massages in four days. The food at the inhouse restaurant is more than adequate, and the staff very friendly. Altogether an unforgettable experience and would love to go back anytime.

What an amazing place!
We were a large group if friends an Atremaru was just perfect for us! The food in the restaurant is very good, the location could not be more authentic - if you are for an “in-jungle” experience - and the staff just went out of their way to make our stay memorable! Romain the GM is a perfect host: answers every question, helps with organizing trips, makes almost any wish happen. The prices are also very pocket-friendly. Would stay again many times!

Wonderfully furnished rooms/suites, friendly and helpful personnel and nice local food in the restaurant. One of our favourite on Palawan.
