the trip to PPS was something me and my college seatmate booked last February 2015, not until the Saturday before we leave (which is on Monday) that we decided what to do exactly with our tour. And so, researching happened. Luckily I came across with Tenzai reviews, and all commended it for being clean (not to say at a very affordable price 450php/pax). I contacted the number because of the affordability. and so we did book a room for two days. we paid a total of 1800php for 2 nights for two pax and we got MORE than what a person could expect from his/her 450/per night. A Kuya picked us up at the airport, we were welcomed by ate jess with our drinks and when we were inside the room, we were so happy that the room was ultraclean as what the other reviews commend it for. this is a three day travel for me and my friend. in our itinerary we squeeze in El nido, and so we have to travel the night that same morning or arrival in the lodge house(and so technically, we won't be at the house on the whole Tuesday) so we asked ate jess if it is possible to have the breakfast for tuesday as our dinner before we depart for El nido. And we were so much delighted that ate jess agreed without any hesitation. We were so excited to leave the lodge since it was a DIY tour for us, before leaving the lodge ate jess handed a calling card of the lodge, without knowing for what reason is she giving it to me, i just accepted it so that we can go. Later that day, after we have managed to go around the city, we dont know how to go back! we dont remember any landmarks near the lodge. and so then i remembered that ate jess gave me the card! and that was our saving grace! the last trip for Cherry bus leaves exactly at 9pm in San jose Terminal, the house's driver sent us off to the terminal (without any extra fee)! so we we're back at the lodge Wednesday at around 3am (since we left El nido Tuesday 9pm) and the receptionist (i forgot to ask her name) was not even a bit irritated that we disturb her during the wee hours to open the door and even asked us what time should we want our breakfast to be served. And so our last day to PPS came, we were up early as we know that the travel from the city proper to see the underground river is more than an hour. during our breakfast, the receptionist asked us what's our plan for the day and so we tell her that we are off to the Underground river. She told us that it is easy to go there however since we have a flight to catch it's better if we have a service since it's difficult to come back to the city later in the afternoon. and so she asked us if we are willing to join a group for the tour. and we said yes because we are afraid not to fly back to manila that same day! the tour was 1500 (however, the first thing we did during our arrival,Monday, was to get a permit to go to underground river which costs 175php and that was deducted from the original price of 1500). She managed to get us a tour guide in less than 30 mins! Originally, the tour guide would pick us up at the lodge, however, when the guide arrived my friend was still taking a bath (as I say, she managed to get us a tour guide in less than 30 mins, so that means, that is also the time for us to prepare). The tour guide said that she'll be at the city coliseum to get permits of the other guests and since we know how to get there(and its 10peso ride from the lodge per pax) I told her that we'll just see her there. And when our departure came, we wanted to buy cashew nuts which is the only left pasalubong we werent able to buy. on our way to the airport. kuya drove us to a pasalubong center where we bought one and then we took off at the airport. Overall, Our trip to PPS wouldn't be so much fun and affordable without Tenzai Pension House and it's staffs. They are not after having a lot of guests, but they are after having repeat guests and referral guests. They would want their guests to share how they experienced staying with them. You'd never know how far your 450pesos can get until you'd be at Tenzai Pension House.

A nice homely place with a small green courtyard with wooden benches and tables. The staff is very friendly and helpful. A special thank you goes out to Rezle who has been very communicative from the moment we booked and has helped us set up the Underground river tour before we arrived and helped us find alternative transportation for our way onwards to Port Barton.

The location is slightly out of town, north of the airport, but with tricycles being PHP 10 per person for anywhere in PP proper it's easy to get around. We got a complimentary pick-up from the airport (+ were offered a complimentary drop off at the bus-station which we didnt use in the end), but if you're coming on your own make sure to know roughly where you're going as most tricycles didn't know the place. Ten Zai will give you a handy directions-card when you;re there.

Breakfast was nice with a choice of 3 types which you order a day in advance. Only point of criticism was that if anyone sits in the courtyard talking early morning or late evening you'll hear it in your room.

Very clean, cozy & friendly pension house, simple but quiet and comfortable. It's located next to the airport, 5 minutes driving far from it because they can efficiently collected clients from & returned to the airport by a very good driver. Unfortunately the location is a little hidden from the main road but it's an advantage because away from hustle and bustle of the city (traffic in town is really aweful). The building include 8 rooms located at ground floor all around an open landscape garden not big but nice. All the staff (in particular Ms. Elonie, the manager) are very accomodating, friendly and helpful. The rooms are not big but very neat and tidy, all of that include own bathroom with hot water and shower.
If you are looking for an affortable, safe and quiet place in Puerto Princes, in my eyes this is a good spot.

My friends and I had an amazing time during our stay at Tenzai. They were very accommodating. The courtyard and common area was absolutely beautiful. Breakfast was included with our stay which was an added to bonus to our overall experience.

Tenzai Pension House is one of those accommodations that look better in real life than in website pictures. I’m so glad I decided to book two rooms with them. Here is my list of pros and cons.

PROS:
+ Strong wifi
+ Courteous staff that provide personalized service (Example: They have a rule that breakfast starts at 7AM. When they found out that we will be picked up at 6AM for our Underground River tour, they proactively told us that they can serve our breakfast at 5AM. That's customer service!)
+ Free transfers to and from the airport
+ Unbelievably affordable rates that include free breakfast
+ Delicious Filipino breakfast
+ Garden and ambiance (The hotel is small, but the layout was designed perfectly to still provide an airy ambiance)
+ Meticulously clean rooms especially the bathroom
+ Air conditioning unit that worked perfectly (and quietly)
+ Proximity to the bay walk, Robinson's mall and airport
+ The room is simple, but the amenities are focused on what the guests need. I prefer this over an extravagant room that has unnecessary furniture.

CONS:
+ Low shower pressure. It didn't bother me, but I'm objective and I know that this info is helpful for the readers.

Will definitely stay here again and will recommend it to my family and friends.

Just arrived yesterday here at Manila after my 3 days vacay at Puerto Princesa. It's indeed a hassle free visit. From planning of itinerary with their staff (Jessica) up until the day of my arrival, everything was great. Their place is small but very cozy. Little garden outside with wood carvings. Tasty "free" breakfast. They are even the one who arranged my tours. They are even lending their car if you want to have your diy tour plus their driver Mang Boy is really really kind. So if you want to enjoy and relax at your stay in Palawan, Tenzai Pension House is indeed the place to be. <3

Breakfast incredible and staff lovely! Short trike ride from town but not much at all! Rooms are so comfy and air conditioned with great channel selection too on the tv. If we are ever in Puerto princessa again we will definitely stay here! Airport transfer as well which was absolutely a fantastic bonus and for no extra cost! Stay here you will be so happy you did!

Nice little place to stay, a total of 8 rooms only. We booked for 3 bed room but we were given a 4 bed room. Including good Filipino breakfast which they can prepare even as early as 5:00 AM. Very helpful receptionist . You can request for transportation from and to airport. They don't serve lunch and dinner, only snacks. You can book your tour thru them with discount. Street to Tenzai is muddy when it rains.

Stayed for a night on their room for three. I didnt have any difficulties communicating with this hotel even via text. They respond accordingly, politely and addresses all your questions promptly. I sent out my room inquiry a few days before my scheduled stay in the city, I was looking for an affordable but nice place to sleep in. I asked if I could be pencil reserved since I'll be coming in from El Nido, and i'm glad they agreed. It's not situated along the highway so landmarks will be very helpful to find the place. Upon arrival, we were shock by the welcome drinks they've provided. We were not expecting it for a rate of P450/pax per night plus free airport transfer. and it was just not any welcome drinks. It's tall cold and really refreshing, beating the ones they serve in Villa Escudero. The Pension was small but well maintained. The garden in the middle of the area provides a very good vibe. I loved our room! Spacious enough for us, there were 4 beds with spotless white linens and brown accents. The linens, curtains and towels smelled really really good. I'm a germ freak but I didn't have any worries using their towels and sleeping on their sheets. The bathroom smelled good and was shining clean. There's a place for you to hang your clothes and a shoe rack. There's a flatscreen TV so you won't get bored, and their wifi was blazing fast even if you're inside the room (we were in room 8). The free breakfast tasted super! their choices are wide, and served on time. The staff were all friendly and polite. Tenzai is just near the PPS airport and we were expecting a tricycle for transfer, but we rode a Pajero to the airport. It was free, so we were really impressed. On the other hand, the aircon on room 8 could be a bit weak, though tolerable. But aside from this, I would definitely go back to this place.
