We stayed at the Village house for 3 nights. The house is beautifully constructed and it is so comfortable. The house is in a flipino village and if you want to stay in a real village to live alongside villagers it is a great experience. Roy the host, who lives next door, made our stay so comfortable and was very helpful and will do all he can to make your stay great. Don't be put off by the road the house is on, it can be a bit muddy after rain but is worth it! You should have no concerns about safety or security either, we left all our stuff in the house unlocked during the day, and Roy and the villagers will take care of it! The houses is a tricycle ride out of town, but it is very easy to get a tricycle to heart of town for 30 pesos.
Overall a great stay in a real village in a unique house with beautiful gardens!

Stayed at the Village House for 3 days. Great place to stay that is a little outside the city, wonderfully quite. Roy was the man, and made sure that we had everything that we needed. Couldn't have asked for a better place to relax, Would go back, without a doubt..

We booked the village house just for one night but would have definitely stayed longer!
Roy, the host from the moment we walked in made sure we were well looked after. We have just been fly in the whole night so he offered us to cook a filipino lunch. So we walked down to the local market together to get fresh ingredients and he recommended us to try a native desert such as turon (it's definitely worth a try - we had three) So lunch was amazing! He helped us with making the simcards going and answered every single question.

If we come back we will definitely stay here again! Its the chance for you to experience the life of a happy local.

Thank you Roy you made it 10/10!

When we booked we paid for 5 nights in full with a non refundable clause to the foreign owner. We could not get there for the first night. I did try to email the owner who said he did not receive it. Although we had paid in full he cancelled our booking and rented out the house again for three of the nights we had paid for. We were allowed to stay one night. So he has been paid twice for three of the nights. We lost our money and had to find somewhere else to stay at short notice. As he re-rented the house I think we should be refunded for the three nights. The local Filipinos were very kind, helpful and considerate.

I have to say that I’m a bit surprised that there are so few reviews about this guesthouse. It is an absolute gem! If you would like to experience the local and rural life of Puerto Princesa in a very friendly neighbourhood, this place is for you. On the other hand, if you need a 5 star hotel service and surroundings, you might want to skip this. As for us, we really loved this place, the service and the whole village. We stayed there for 4 days in March 2015.

The location and how to approach:
The Village House is in the suburbs of Puerto Princesa in a small village. There are absolutely no tourists in this village and it takes approx 10 mins to get there (and back) from (to) the city centre with tricycles or taxi (the latter was introduced to Puerto Princesa in February 2015 :)). I recommend to use the Taxi service when come or go to the airport (due to the luggages) and use tricycles every other time. The former is approx 100 PHP, the latter is 50 PHP/trip. The hotel itself is located on a dirtroad approx 100m from the main road. Do not get confused by the other houses in the neighbourhood, your’s will be perfect!

The house and the service
The hotel is a two storey bamboo house (with wood floors and wood steps to the second floor) with a balcony and veranda. Bathroom with bathtub and kitchen with fridge is located on the first floor. The service we got from Roy (caretaker/manager or the hotel) was way beyond expectations (see other reviews). You will have no issues in this matter. He is very friendly and he takes you well being as a priority.

The Neighbourhood
You will be the only tourists in the village. Be prepared for staring eyes, warm welcomes and constant smilings and greetings from the neighbour kids. There are a few local shops in the area with very low prices. Buying bread, soft drinks, beer and cigarettes as well as local foods are not an issue.

Disadvantages:
There are a few disadvantages though.Namely:
- We had some issues with the water pressure, despite the water pump was turned on. Especially in the mornings.
- The WiFi is a mobile internet installed on the second floor. Usually there were no coverage. Do not expect an always-on connection here or a fast internet access (if any).
- Roosters. In the morning :)

My friend and I stayed at The Village House at the beginning and end of our vacation in Palawan. From the start, manager Roy went out of his way to make us feel comfortable, picking us up from the airport personally and then proceeding to take us out to a restaurant and bar. His lovely wife and child were very nice too.

The house itself, while in a small village on the outskirts of Puerto, is very well appointed, spacious and enjoyable to stay in, blending modern comforts with a traditional styling.

Really great place, made all the more memorable by the efforts that Roy went to for us.

We stayed for 2 nights at The Village House and it was excellent! Roy (the manager of the place) went to pick us up at the airport for just 300 PHP and showed us around the place to buy groceries. There was a telescope and we were able to see the moon!

Great place! I highly recommend it!
