We stayed here year 2012 - the first time we visited Puerto Princesa. I decided to stay here again because I was really impressed with the food, room and ambiance. The same good food - with bigger serving. Same quiet and peaceful surroundings. Staff are really helpful and goes out of their way to attend to your needs, specially Herna, one of their front office personnel. Highly recommended!
As you walk in you will be confused about how this hotel came together and for what purpose. Its difficult to explain; the layout isn't logical, there are an endless assortment of statues, the architecture is haphazard,.... The service was at times very friendly and helpful (saying good morning in passing) and other times you get there attention and they literally turn around and walk the other direction. I always ordered a bucket of beers because i didn't know if i would get service again. The bar notionally closed at 10pm but what that actually means is that the staff pack up from 9 so that they can be out the door by 10. The food was also interesting; The menu had so many choices you will find something different to try each meal. The prices where a little more expensive than the local restaurants but not outrageously. The kitchen is so far from the pool area that the food was at best luke warm by the time it arrived. The room we had was big and furnished in the same confused way as the rest of the hotel. The AC was good but the i think the water had to come from the kitchen as well (it was also luke warm). There are a lot of mosquitoes and no bed netting. The swimming pools where the best thing about the hotel. They had the same odd style e.g. chess pool, Buddha statue in the water,...There is a small pool that used to be a spa but its now BYO bubbles. There is a swim up bar to sit with your beverage but you have to go to the other bar to get a drink. I am glad for the experience, i don't think i will ever forget it, but i don't think i will stay here next time we are in Puerto Princesa.…
Rooms are so dirty, unorganized, no enough toiletries, dirty surroundings (leaves, wet floor, tainted walls, etc). Staffs are impolite, unprofessional, not smiling, tactless. I asked for something and they just answer without looking at you and always on their phone. When they answer our telephone call, they are always not in a good tone. Plus the place is far so it is the best to have a free van transfer.
Admittedly I booked through air miles, so I knew they would have troubles sourcing my reservation, thus I wrote to them to confirm in advance. After emails going ignored for 2-3 weeks, I called and requested email response, which they did acknowledging both the booking and airport transfer. Needless to say despite all the reassurances, I was still left stranded at the airport, having to pay almost 6 times their quoted price due to their driver not showing up. When I checked in, was met with argument u til I could prove via email that I had actually booked the airport transfer, and was met with a “whoops, it wasn’t me that confirmed it to you!” I was not provided with a towel for the shower, and there were bugs and mosquitos everywhere. Other than that, the paid breakfast was great, but I would definitely not come back.…
Was a nice venue with great pool. Charged for every little extra from laundry to bringing food outside. When we booked a shuttle to airport whilst leaving, they were less than helpful. Wouldn’t come here again but was ok for room price I guess. Not a great experience overall.
