i called them up a month in advance to reserve a room and even if it was still that long, they told me that they were fully booked. when a guest had canceled their reservation, they informed me and i confirmed my reservation to them. they only asked for my name and the date of my arrival. i wasn't sure if i'd be able to keep the room for me coz they weren't asking for any reservation fee. the week before my arrival (and a few days before), they sent me sms & called me up to confirm with me if i'm still staying with them (plus points for that). 900php for the room (fits 2) but we were four. they assured me that we'd all fit but i have to pay extra for the mattress (200/extra person. i think.)
when we got there, i have to admit i didn't set my hopes up. so i was pleasantly surprised with the inn. it had a very cozy atmosphere and it looked so peaceful. the other guests were in the habit of taking their footwear off the entrance and were walking around barefoot on the wooden floors. when we got to our room, it was very spacious! we had 3 beds (can fit two) and they added another mattress. and we still got tons of space! the only downside was that since it was raining when we got there, there was a leak in the middle of our room. their temporary remedy was to put towels on the floor to absorb the leaking water. they were apologizing profusely. since it was a sunday, they told us that no one's able to fix it. :(
aside from that, there weren't other inconveniences. but do realize that you are in palawan and as such, there are lots of mosquitoes around (not inside the room though, i was talking about the garden). make sure you have a mosquito repellent with you. it's nice to hang out at the gazebo in their garden or to just sit by the chairs in the lobby. they have a computer up front that you can use. there was a wifi signal but you'll need a password for it (we didn't try asking for it coz we're always able to use their pc)
the kitchen staff were very helpful to us also. after island hopping at honda bay, we had so many excess of food that we weren't able to finish (bought outside). they offered to keep it in their refrigerator and they agreed to cook our excess rice as fried rice for our next morning's breakfast for a small fee (20php). we also had excess pizza (from another foodtripping done outside), and we asked them to reheat it for us. alongside our orders for a papaya shake (i found it delicious ^_^), it was a pretty good snack eaten at their gazebo.
all in all, i would book at casa linda again if i make another visit to puerto princesa. :)
ps: also, the inn's location is perfect. it's a very short walk to the main street (rizal ave) where all the good eateries are. the plaza's capitol is a few minutes' walk away too. :)
Casa Linda is off the main road of Puerto which is quite busy; but when you step into the hotel it has a very peaceful atmosphere. The first thing you'll notice is the interior garden which is surounded by the rooms. You have the reception desk and a patio where you can have drinks/things to eat (it's a nice place to hang out in the evenings - specially when you have tons of geckos hanging off the ceiling!).
The staff are very helpful; they'll reserve trips for you around Palawan, keep anything valuable behind the reception desk when you go out etc.
The rooms are nothing special, but the beds are comfortable and the bathroom's kind-of-clean. Note that there is no hot water - I know this sounds scary to some, but you'll never take a warm shower on your trip anyway.
Little plus: it's in walking distance from Kai Lui: best restaurant we tried in town ;o)

I strongly do not recommend this Hotel. Our worst accommodation ever.
Note also that the price DID NOT INCLUDE BREAKFAST, not even a free coffee as compared with other inns with same or cheaper price! Still, we ordered a breakfast set with a coffee. The coffee was served instantly but the food was served after some some minutes when our cofee is already cold! tsk tsk!
I forgot to mention that the rooms DO NOT HAVE TELEVISION SET so we'd rather stay outside or sleep early!!! That's the biggest diappointment for us!
On the bathroom, there is a sign that they support the water conservation campaign but their toilet bowl and shower have a leak!
The room is really spacious, and you can hear people in the next room because of thin wood division even if they are just in normal tone. It will WAKE YOU UP! The floor is also made up of woods so you can here squeaking sounds of your footsteps and the next rooms' occupants... Somewhat irritating!
On the other hand, the rooms are well maintained even if the place is already old, also clean and spacious. You can also relax in the garden. And the location is great. Kinabuch and KaLui are just walking distance. The place is kinda popular and is owned by actor Matthew Mendoza, Mamang tricy told us. :)

Location: It is hidden from the main road, but ask any tricycle driver or van service of this place, they'd know where to take you. Very accessible to public transport.
Rooms: Hmm.. too dark for my liking. Blame it on the incandescent lights. The beds are comfortable and the bathroom is well equipped. There are sufficient power outlets (220v) which you could use to charge your phones, cameras, laptops, what-have-yous. Overall cleanliness is okay.
Staff: Generally accommodating and courteous. They can arrange your tours for you. ((I personally recommend you take the island hopping tour here and stay in Sabang for your Underground river tour)
Lounge: No TV in the room, only in the common lounge.
(Nearby) Attractions: From the inn, take a very short walk (like 3-5mins) and turn right... you'd be in KALUI, a prominent resto. Or you could turn left and find yourself in KINABUCH's, another favorite hangout.
Take a trike ride (or walk for 10 mins) and visit ITOY's COFFEE SHOP for flavored (you got that right!) coffee blends.
Spiritual sanctuary to be found at the IMMACULATE CONCEPCION CATHEDRAL, also just one trike ride away.
((Hey.. come to think of it, everything is just one trike ride away!))
There is a MUSEUM (forgot the actual name of the place) for satisfy your appetite for history.
And right across, is the PUBLIC MARKET ..perfect for your souvenir shopping.
MY OVERALL ASSESSMENT: Good. Value for your money.
1. Receptionists are complacent and treat you like you're dumb. We arrived on a rainy day and watched the news in their common area (no TV in rooms). Weatherman said the storm is passing by Palawan. We asked the receptionist to inquire if our Underground River tour next day is pushing though she said there is no storm in Puerto Princesa, only on the southern part of Palawan (this she says while the rain is pouring and the wind is howling!!!). Then she said she will wait for news from the Phil Coast Guard if the tour is pushing though. When we asked why can't she call the Coast Guard now, she just gave us a blank stare. When we insisted she call the travel agency to check if the tour will push through, she gave us the phone numbers of the agency so we can call them ourselves. Mind you - we arranged the tour through Casa Linda and it is their responsibility to call their travel agency. After the hotel has accepted full payment for the tour, they now become uncooperative. We did not even get an advise from the hotel that the tour is cancelled the next day - we had to call the travel agency. Such lousy customer service!!
2. The rooms are horrible. The walls are so thin, you can hear normal conversations from the other room. Walls are so dusty because they are made of bamboo strips. Duvets are so dusty. Bed sheets smell bad - smell of human odor (apparently sheets were not washed). The bathrooms are dirty (soap scums, mildew and toilet stains) no hot water. Worse, there is no water from the faucet if the the other room is also using the bathroom - duh!
3. If you'd like to watch TV you have to go to the lobby or common area where other guests are watching lousy shows. The place is full of mosquitoes you'd fear getting dengue.
I suggest you go somewhere else if you'd like to enjoy your trip.

We stayed at Casa Linda Inn (which is owned by an actor, Matthew Mendoza) for only Php1300 per night with 4 beds and private bathroom. There's no hot shower.
The location is excellent, it is not along the highway so it's quiet back there but it's just 10 steps away from the main road so no worries at all, tricycle drivers know it too. It is only 10mins away from the airport and 5-7mins walk to town proper, It's few steps in between two good restaurants Kinabuchs and Kalui. They don't have wifi but they do have internet kiosk at the reception for Php40 per hour.
They arranged our Hunda Bay tour (island hopping) and you can asked them for a spa room appointment for only Php300. Very accommodating staff and the compound is very resort like, unlike other cheap hostels there.
The bathroom was clean and the room was quiet spacious. Further, it is located in a small quiet lane. All in all good value for
money.
When we arrived, those without a reservation were told that they there were no rooms. Unfortunately, those with a reservation (specifically myself) were also told that there were no rooms. Being a regular traveler, I knew that a Lonely Planet listing bumps up the price that hotels charge and lowers their room availability. I called two weeks prior to speak with a live person (who spoke mediocre English) and confirm a reservation. Although I was very adamant for them to get all the necessary info, they refused to take more than my name and my date of arrival. When I showed up, they mentioned an early cut-off for check-in, after which they give your room away -- 5 pm, I believe. Since one of only two flights from Manila arrives shortly after that, I was rather shocked. The most they would do for me is offer to call other hotels -- none of which sounded too good or were located in a convenient area.
Okay, so I don't want this to sound too negative. The hotel looked fine for the price (although there's plenty of other places for a similar price or even better ones for only 100 pesos more). The common area and garden are nice touches. The location is a real selling point. It's basically at the edge of the section of town that you would want to be in. Give it a try, but a reservation is suggested. I would also recommend a follow up email or other confirmation.
BTW, if you haven't already figured it out by the time that you get to Palawan, touts get a commision for getting people into a taxi, booking a room, or booking a tour. Don't listen to their recommendations -- ask another traveler or check your guide book instead!
