I can certainly breath luxury the moment I step in the hotel. Furnitures and fixturea in the lobby, function halls and the rooms honor the craftsmanship of the Palaweños. Materials used are mostly locally available like Abaka, Rattan and Capiz Shells.

Front desk attenndants are extremely corteous and facilitates all your needs. Even the hotel shuttle driver who brought me from the hotel to the airport was realy facilitative and really going extra miles.

Rooms are complete characterizations of luxury.

Doors are adorned with Capiz shells.

Beds are not bouncy.

A JBL Horizon is also available in case you want to enjoy a room with music.

The lot where the hotel stand is elongated, making the hotel narrow and long. I just find the design weird.

The hotel is just a 5-minute ride from the airport and walking distance from the Provincial Capitol. Very accesible.

Overall, staying here is a splendid experience.

Very close to airport, restaurants and shops. Staff was kind and accommodating. Breakfast was delicious with great options and good quality. I was just kind of disappointed because they charge you for airport transfer (100 php per head). The airport is just a few minutes away from the hotel. Some other hotels were not asking for payment for transfers. The room is big and spacious but not sparkling clean and the AC is not cooling enough. Overall, worth the value and location.

Superb! Thanks to Robert, Risa, and Vanessa! And to the guards/doormen who always greet us with warm and very welcoming smile. They truly deserve to be commended! Breakfast is good and comes with wide selections. Room wAs clean and homey. I was delighted that it was arranged as requested. Also, they didn't fail to replenish everyday toiletries and water. The guest services/reception were quick to attend our needs. Location was perfect as it was close to resturants.
Overall, it was a great stay! We'd surely come back.

Maybe for Palawan its a top hotel but not in my book. It didn't help I had just come straight from Marco Polo in Manila.

For starters, when I booked it said $200 per night security. Got there they said it was a $2000 a night security deposit. Got to the room and it felt stale and stuffy. (Think its that 3 days changing sheets rule) Tried to persevere for a night with air freshener, perfume & aftershave but next morning woke up breathing funny.

Asked to change the room. Staff was helpful and friendly, however had to wait a while then when they came to me they offered a room with two single beds. Turned it down. Eventually got a like for like.

The rooms were ok but no sound insolation, you can literally hear someone stirring their tea in the next room. House keeping would always be late, sometimes you’ll go out mid afternoon come back and room is not done.

The location is nice. People are very friendly and the bike trycycles are very convenient. Nice touch was getting $20” off vouchers for the nearby restaurant, food and entertainment was good but didnt like the cats strolling around.

The breakfast was decent although limited choice but good enough. However, some seats you couldn't sit in as it had the air con above blazing out cold air.

From someone who has stayed in multiple hotels in Philippines I am sorry to say this was the worst! Needs plenty of improvements!

I was craving for something western for dinner and opted for the Best Western Ivywall in the heart of Puerto Princesa. Ordered the salmon fillet which I was told was grilled served on top of mashed potatoes, Php750 and a glass of Bordeaux wine, Php350. The wine was served and it’s stale. They replaced the glass from a newly opened bottle which was way much better (still out of temp). Salmon dinner came and the sauce was watery, the broccoli has brown spots and the salmon was way overcooked that it becomes thready instead of flaky. To top my disappointment, when I asked for the bill, they charged me Php480 for the glass of wine (and I had two glasses so I could make the salmon easier to swallow). Very disappointing. No recovery. Just plain bad experience. I gave two bubbles for the cleanliness of the hotel but even the seat of the restaurant has broom piece.

Horrible hotel. One of those places where you feel they are trying to rip you off at every corner. I arrived early and asked if i could do an early check in to which they replied I could pay a considerable hourly fee, which would end up doubling the price of my stay. I had no choice as they knew I had nowhere to go. A few days later I had a few hours to kill before my flight and wanted to shower and nap for a few hours after a long scooter ride from el nido, so asked if I could now pay this hourly fee for a few hours, to which they replied that I could stay for a few hours at basically the rate for an ENTIRE NIGHT. Unbelievable. Avoid this place at all costs. I must be fair, the rooms are clean and the location is good, but they just try to scam you at every corner and it's obvious their priority is to make as much money off of you and your comfort is secondary.

It was with great trepidation that I read your review as the experience you described is entirely unacceptable and not at all what we espouse here at our hotel. I have already conducted a thorough investigation on the matter, identified the areas/persons of concern, and have taken the steps necessary to disambiguate policy so that we can avoid incidents like this, however atypical, from happening again. Allow me to apologize sincerely for what happened and at the same time, thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We had an absolutely fantastic stay! The hotel was immaculate, the staff was incredibly accommodating, courteous and professional and the breakfast buffets were delightfully unexpected feasts. The spa was top rate, especially Bernadette and Jennifer. The front desk staff was immensely knowledeable and helpful, particularly Jessica, Marvin and Isa.

This stay has truly made me rethink
Best Western and I will now consider the chain when traveling. I cannot sing the praises of the staff here loud enough. We travel the world quite regularly and usually stay at more expensive hotels. This Best Western far exceeded many of those other expensive chains. Keep up the good work!

Our recent stay was incredibly pleasant and comfortable. The staffs at this establishment went above and beyond, displaying remarkable accommodating behavior and friendliness. The environment was serene and maintained to a standard of cleanliness.

One of the many perks of our stay included easy access to a variety of nearby restaurants and shops, making our experience even more enjoyable. In addition to this, reliable Wi-Fi service was greatly appreciated.

The location, price and staff are good.
The staff are all friendly as are the guards. The location is spot on for the centre. The hotel itself however is getting dated, a musty smell is evident when walking down the corridors and in the room. The breakast is very average with little to tempt European/American guests. We dined out in the evening as we found the food average and the wine excessively expensive, a 400 retail wine we would expect to pay 1400 in a hotel but 2400?

The hotel does not have a cellphone number, but only a landline number. Just make sure you call the hotel before your flight to remind them to pick you up.

This hotel is very well situated. 2 minutes walk to KaLui and Kinabuch restaurant. KaLui is a must visit. Its also a 5 minute walk to Noki Nocs for the best Halo halo. If by pearl market you are referring to their souvenir shop, yes it is very near, about 5 minutes away by trike. The hotel offers city tours and other tour as well. But what we did was to hire a van and did our own thing. That way we had the van by ourselves and had total control of our time

Hi current & past guests, I would like insight on my current situation. My husband is active-duty US military & he's received strict orders that he's restricted to travel to Palawan due to the heightened terrorism threats in the area, so we are forced to cancel our entire family trip. We have valid, supporting documents to further claim our military obligations. Well, I feel completely ignored & I believe the management at Best Western Ivywall is extremely insensitive to the nature of our circumstances. When I canx, I will be penalized & be forced to pay 100% of the booking fee, so as a no-show, I'll be losing double the amount of &! I've been trying to resolve this since earlier this month; my reservation is not until the end of June. I am well aware of the no-refund policy as I've planned this family trip since January, but in light of the potential terrorism threats & our duty to the US military, it's out of our hands. Especially, with the horror at Manchester, this hotel has been extremely insensitive, inconsiderate, disrespectful & truly only showing their greed & lack of care for both current & potential customers. With them knowing weeks in advance that my family cannot make the reservation, they can still rent out the room! Which is more profit along with me losing it all, plus double. I'm still hoping to resolve this, but just wanted anyone's advice. I even asked for hotel credit. Any thoughts??

Not sure this response will help. I travelled to Palawan in March this year. This was our second trip to Philippines in 3 years having visited Borocay previously. It is an unusual place but in a good way. The people are very nice and the scenery amazing. The culture is an experience in itself and I was told very low in local crime. However I didn't want to go because of consult advice both on UK and US websites however my partner felt differently so we went. My understanding is that risks were reassessed last Oct/Nov so well in advance of your booking. Given your husbands military background I am a little surprised you booked at all. I guess a non-refund policy is as stated. It is outside the control of the hotel if the US government don't advise travel. Whilst I agree you would think they could still re book room but maybe given heightened threats that's not so easy for them now. I feel very sorry for the local community it must be awful and very frightening. I have to say I never once felt unsafe or saw any violence but then my son studies in Manchester and always felt safe there but look what has happened. I wonder if you could ask for a transfer to another Best Western hotel perhaps try Best Western head office customer services.......assuming there is one.
