One of El Nido's first accommodations, MaryGold (formerly Marina Garden) is located right on the beach near everything you could need for your visit. Rooms are simple and clean. Ideal for the families, friends, and middle-of-the-road traveler.
We stayed with my friends in a resort further than town proper which has better services and better view. Rooms were so so and only few amenities. If you wanted a place within town proper we think this is okay compared to the others. But we recommend for guest no to stay in town. Better look for hotels near the airport.

Response from MaryGold_ElNido, Manager at MaryGold Beachfront Inn
Responded 14 Jun 2018
Hi njess388, Thank you for your feedback. As a small, mid-range, family-owned inn, our amenities are definitely different than you would find at a more upscale, full-service hotel or resort. We're sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy staying in town. While some travelers seek out more remote locations for their vacations, there also those that prefer to experience the character of a town by being in the heart of it. While you were here, we hope you were able to take advantage of the stores, restaurants, bars, and other services that are just a minute's walk of our place. For a more detached or luxurious experience of El Nido, the high-end hotels at the growing Lio Tourism Estate near the airport would definitely be a great choice. Thank you again for writing. Your feedback is most valuable in our efforts to improve our service to our guests!

Location was the best, near reastaurants and shops. Staffs were very helpful. Breakfast is served 6am -930 am. It is okey. Room was okey but small. Beds are also quite small but clean. Wifi is quite slow too.

Great location, helpful staff and clean cottages. Enjoyed the delicious breakfast which was included with the price. Had fun during private island hopping tour.. reserved through MaryGold manager. Located close to stores, Church and transportation.

Great location, close to airport and right in the middle of town proper. The staff are all friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean. And breakfast comes with the room! We had a great time and wished we would have stayed longer. We stayed in the cottages, are front door was right in front of the beach. Beautiful!

+ Good Location + Warm water + returned the passport we forgot (The only reason why I gave this hotel 3 instead of 1) - Got locked out of the hotel with no guard to open the gate - they forgot to give our tickets before transferring to Puerto Princesa - Took American Breakfast, the scrambled eggs were tasteless and the bacon isn't crunchy at all - Bed is quite hard - The door from the beach closes at 10pm - Wi-Fi is only available at the reception

Place is a nice location but the staff are not honest. Overcharged me for a tour. They said they would refund after I got the police involved. They said the money would be refunded in a few days. It's been 6 days and no sign of the money. Becareful with them is all I can say. They admitted overcharging others so they are aware of what they are doing. Very disappointing. Michelle Rivera was the front office person who overcharged but said no sir we only charged you once .. Watch your bank statements if using eftpos WiFi is attricious. Room had a sewage smell and the maintenance man brought some air freshener to fix the problem for all of 10 minutes

We spent there 3 nights during Christmas period of 2017. First of all, there can not be better location if you come to El Nido for island hopping tours. All of them start in the morning literally in front of the hotel's bar and end up in the same location. We took two of them via hotel and liked it - that was pure local experience and great value for money. We liked breakfast in the hotel served in the bar, location due to lots of bars and restaurants in the neighbourhood. Wifi was not always working perfectly, but was available most of the time. Many thanks to MaryGold employee named Mick, who made our check-in comfortable and kept us aware about the weather and all useful details. He rocks! We could only complain about noise outside during night (tricycles stop is located just…

The best part about this hotel is its location - beachfront, right in the centre of El Nido. The rooms were very cute and nicely decorated. It felt like home. We stayed at Maru Cottage 2 which was very humid. The room was very musty and needed airing out because it has been rainy. We requested to stay at Maru Cottage 1 which was so much better for three people. More spacious and definitely more airy. Breakfast was okay, it needs more options for vegetarians/vegans. Staff were very helpful and very patient with requests and booking tours.

Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable, but that’s all you need in El Nido. You’re not there to sit in the room. Prices could be a little lower for what you get. Breakfast, meh! Not much to choose from, and have to pay extra for brewed coffee. Beer, not cold at all. And, no real food selection for other times if the day. Luckily, it’s in a great location with lots of good food within a 3-minute walk. Can be a little noisy from people walking along the beach between bars, and from the street just behind the resort.

Amazing place with an ideal location and unbelievable views. The owners were so helpful and friendly. Thank you to Jinno for helping to organise our tour - we had an awesome time. I really hope that we can come back again soon.
