Detailed Reviews
We paid roughly 1,000 pesos/night for a Native NipaHut or BahayKubo. This was booked months ahead in advance so we can get the Jessica Cottage fronting the beach. Didn't want to get the Wayside Cottage because it's near the roads and you know how it is with motorbikes.
We chose Marina because of the NipaHut. There is no electricity between 6AM-2PM and the NipaHut is still cool even at 12 noon. There is the native duyan or hammock if you want to rest too. We brought a small tent for the kids and set it up in front of the cottage and they did have fun.
Amenities of the place is very basic and spacious enough for 2 adults and 2 kids who slept comfortably for 5 nights. There was a security guard manning 24/7. Wifi is available 24/7 too.
Staff needs more training in customer service. Hoping that the owner would give more love and attention to the place and most especially its service because El Nido is a gem. Staff only clean the room upon request. Laundry cost for clothes is 70pesos/kilo.
Room is screened and no mosquito. Though there was a little smell coming from the toilet, so we shut the door always. There were black ants so we don't keep food inside the room. Very near the food stalls, groceries, police station and most especially the pharmacy for emergency cases.
How can I complain for US$25/night?

Marina Garden staff are helpful and friendly.
The resort is located right at the beachfront of El Nido Town. The rooms are refurbished and is tidy. It also includes air-conditioning and cable TV, the beds are comfy and the bathroom has hot and cold water, towels are also provided. By the way our room is a Deluxe room with 1 double bed & 1 single bed.
The standard and townside rooms does not have hot water and the cottages does not have air-conditioning and hot water. Electricity in the resort is from 2pm to 6am only just like the other resorts in El Nido Town. Only the Cadlao Resort has 24hrs electricity in El Nido town.
Continental or Filipino breakfast is included in the room rates. There are a lot of restaurants nearby.
This resort can also be visited by the guests who are coming from Puerto Princesa via 6-7 hours van ride. Direct flights to El Nido can be books via ITI.
The municipal government of El Nido collects Php200/person for the “Eco-Tourism Development Fee” (ETDF).

I love El Nido and almost don't want to say anything about it so that it doesn't change. Marina Gardens is right in the centre of town and right on the beach and when you wake up and open you door, paradise is smiling at you. The rooms are small, basic but with their own charm. We had a room with hot water but others in our group did not and did fine without it. I was concerned about no power after 6:00 am but it was kind of was like an alarm clock and up you got to start the day. It was a bit challenging without light but I had a small flashlight and it worked well. Breakfast was lovely with several different choices available. Marina Gardens was great about arranging Island hopping for us. We paid them and they paid the boat ( less the tip which we paid directly)
There are lots of small restaurants along the beach, Sea Slugs, the Corner ( down at the end) which have decent food.
Will stay here again? YES I will - I wish I was there now!

We stayed in the deluxe rooms which are in the main cottage building. They were very clean and comfortable with air conditioning and satellite TV. Staff were friendly and helpful. Our room faced the beach and sometimes the waves came right up to our front steps! Water was never really hot but in that heat who needs it? We met lots of other travellers and spent many a happy hour swinging in the hammocks under the palm trees. Super fun holiday.

We stayed there for 3 days and 2 nights at room#6...the place is nice, clean, beachfront (which is its main attraction) and definitely worth the price you pay for. I don't get why other people keep complaining about the electricity. It is clearly stated in their website that electricity is only available from 2pm - 6am, with a note that it may vary. The place was quiet when we stayed there and it was peaceful and lovely. The staff are courteous enough, but are not forthcoming or overly friendly, but I think it's more of a language barrier more than anything else. The island tour (we took A) was everything we expected with the amazing views, water and friendly boatmen. Don't expect too much from the lunch provided though. It's simple and basic. Over all, Marina Garden and El Nido Island is a must for those who love nature and wants to see it at its best. My 7 year old son, my husband and myself all had a memorable great vacation. For those who want luxury and pampering at El Nido, then I guess you have to stay at Miniloc and Lagen Resorts. I guess with the price you have to pay there, then you should complain if you get anything less. But for the price of Marina Garden, you get what you pay for...a decent place and a lovely, lovely time.

This place is good only for its low density and a large room in cottage bungalows.
The down side, very bad air despite it's sea facing as windows are small and some are totally closed and for display only.
Their website showing the shuttle van prices for Lexus are also all overpriced. Booking them from a tour agent is 100 pesos cheaper and another 100 cheaper if you book direct at Lexus.
The room I have is near to sea and the curtain is not fixed. Everytime you try to move the curtain, the whole curtain rack will drop off.
Their wi-fi is also very weak and there is no back-up electricity for it.
Note that they won't tell you that El Nido only has maximun16 hours of electricity a day and 1out of of every 3 days, another few hours less, which is a real put-off.
Also beware that this is 1 of very few places I ever stayed that make you sign an agreement that if you cancel your stay any day short, you have to pay 50% percent for it. They probably know you will not be happy with them or find them overpriced once you shop around and compare.
They are always fully booked because they have a nice website and good "wonder who are they" internet users introducing them.
The staffs are also quite unfriendly when I wish to cut short my stay.

Room- we got the suite. Supposedly the best room of the house but its the worst I have ever slept in my whole life.
Bathroom- weak water pressure; old dirty tiles; bathrm had a funky awful smell; fixtures were old and rusty.
Bed-hard as a rock; sheets were dusty and felt like sandpaper; the thinnest mattress I have ever slept on in my whole life;
Food- instant coffee, oily rice, oily corned beef- if you can even call it beef
Only good thing abt it was its a beachfront property; however, there are many other properties on the beach that offer better accommodations at a lower price

It's just a basic place to stay, but the location is good and it's clean. I thought it was a little overpriced for what we got, but El Nido accomadation is higher then the rest of Palawan. We didn't have a room with hot water, which usually I wouldn't have minded, but as it rained a lot the outside temperature was cooler then expected. If you want a TV set, it is on a first come first serve basis. The staff are fairly friendly and helpful. There is a basic restaurant/bar that serve snacks and drinks at a good price, but you don't need to look far for places to eat along the beach.

Excellent location, in the middle of everything. El Nido Town beach in general isn’t great, but MaryGold was on a nice clean part of the beach with soft sand. A lovely outside area with chairs and hammocks facing the sea, really relaxing. The restaurant is also really nice with amazing burgers! The room was spacious, quirky and clean. We had one of the cheaper rooms (not facing the sea) but we still loved it.

Standard rooms were nice, but I think they are setup a little impractical. A/C was not in an area that was near the beds which would keep you cool and comfortable in the evening. Of the 5 nights we were there, we only had hot water for 2 of them. Water pressure also not so great. TV was placed in a strange area and hard to change since it wasn't eye level. Breakfast was covered, but the only thing on there I wanted was the microwaved pancakes, which I got sick of eating after 3 days. Sheets could've been a little cleaner, wifi was not great either. It's a good location because it is right on the beach, and you can get right to your day tours in no time. Service was fine but I felt like every time we were talking with any of the staff, we were bothering them as they didn't give the body language of being welcoming. There was also construction going on at the complex which felt a bit intrusive when you try to relax, but I guess since this place is growing you have to put up with it. Decent place to stay, but probably would have preferred a shorter visit.

It is not advised, or at least not without a very good shower afterwards. Mind you, getting to some of the island tour boats often requires walking out chest high to get on/off the boat. It offers a pretty view, several restaurants along the beach and is clean at the beach level. Perhaps not for a leisurely swim, but there are 3 other beaches nearby.
Hello!
I paid for our hotel separately. The only package tour I booked with MaryGold Beachfront Inn was the Underground River Tour and Private Van transfer from Puerto Princesa to El Nido (roundtrip).
All the rest of our tours in El Nido were done separately.
Private Van Transfer (roundtrip) PHP 11,000
Underground River Tour PHP 11,700
The total package cost PHP 22,700 for six persons for a day trip.
This private tour was made possible because we traveled as a family of six at that time.

Hello Florencio!
I booked our private van transfer from Puerto to Marygold Inn, El Nido and back with Harbour Bay Travel and Tours (affiliated with Marygold). There were six of us and for a roundtrip I paid 11,000 Philippine pesos at that time. Go to MaryGold website. E-mail them (they're prompt to respond) and ask if they have a public van transfer which will be cheaper if you are traveling alone.
Hope this will help!
