We stayed here for 4 nights and booked 2 rooms. (+) Good location (beach front) (+) Very clean (+) With working station (+) Staffs are friendly and accommodated us with our everyday requests for fresh towels and toilet papers (+) Airport transfer was booked properly (+) Very good halo halo from the restaurant (+) Walking distance from restaurants and bars, souvenir shops (-) Breakfast is always 30 mins late. Usually the staff comes a day before (in the afternoon) to ask which breakfast we prefer so they can cook the next day. However, there's was always a confusion when they were serving the breakfast, they would miss to serve brewed coffee or one meal is not served. But on our last day in El Nido, we requested for breakfast to be served at 7 AM so we can eat at 7:30 AM lol
Amazing location, right on the beach close to all bars and restaurants of El nido town, lovely waking up to sound of waves crashing on the beach etc. the place is quite run down, price reflects this but feel with a lick of paint and a refurb of the bar/common areas especially it would be a lovely beach hotel, breakfast was average at best, (you also have to pay extra for room cleaning.)
-Beautiful little place, right on the beach with the most amazing views! -Superb location, right in the middle of all the action, day and night: you board teh boats right in front of the hotel and all restaurants and pubs are accessible both from the street and from the beach side. -The room is small but fitted us three (with no luggage), especially that you don't need to spend much time in the room, -Breakfast is good, again with the an awesome view, especially early in the morning. -The front desk staff are amazing, very knowledgeable and super helpful. Book your tours with them. -Very good wifi -While the room is good, the bathroom is really old and needs a definite revamp! -Maybe if they can put something to repel mosquitoes especially at evening time in the outside area.…
Excellent location, in the middle of everything. El Nido Town beach in general isn’t great, but MaryGold was on a nice clean part of the beach with soft sand. A lovely outside area with chairs and hammocks facing the sea, really relaxing. The restaurant is also really nice with amazing burgers! The room was spacious, quirky and clean. We had one of the cheaper rooms (not facing the sea) but we still loved it.
45 steps, that's how far it was from our room to the water. As soon as you step off the porch you are on the sand! The overall facility was not quite as nice as expected but still nice. The rooms are rather small but who stays in the room Daily room service is extra if you need. The breakfast which was included was delisious, the take your order in the evening and a time.. brewed coffee will cost you 40 php extra. Shaded areas to relax Little restaurant and bar at Marygold had great burgers. Couple stores close by just turn left when you leave the compound, you will need bottled waters. Sava beach bar which is also to the left (or right if you walk on the beach) has BOGO drinks 4 to 6 pm and very good. Also to the left and then up an alley is great pizza place called…
Location - great. Right on the beach and just a 5 minute walk from the jetty where our ferry from Coron docked. Lots of bars and restaurants on the doorstep. Room - good. We stayed in the Jessica Cottage. It was a little noisy with a bar next door and a children's playground outside the window but it was quiet by about 11pm. Shower - hmm. The temperature and power was great but a slight smell of egg in the water made washing feel a little dirty. Wifi - not bad for Philippines. Walk away from the room however and it cuts out instantly. Breakfast - nice breakfast included. Only problem is you have to order the night before and choose a time to eat which can be a little inconvenient. Overall - I'd stay again for sure but don't be expecting luxury.
The photos make this place look a lot better than it actually is. The beds are hard and there was a children’s playground directly outside our window! We could also hear loud music for hours into the night from neighbouring bars. Because the whole place has dirty sand for ground your room ends up filthy. They had no iron to offer guests. Breakfast was ok but the hotel make no effort to discourage all the peddler’s on the beach approaching you trying to sell you things. WiFi is unreliable.
First impressions of El Nido are awful. A backpackers’ hub: dirty, crowded, smog filled, hassle. A backpackers’ magnet so a vendors hot spot too. We have done this before - go from an oasis of calm back into the maelstrom and it always disappoints. The Marygold Beachfront Inn , where a chain link fence separates the cafe from the beach, is adequate. In the evening after investigating four restaurants we pay above average prices for below average food. In the morning sunshine El Nido looks a little better. The 100+ boats in the bay are busy touting and filling up to take the tourists on the same four tours. The hawkers know their market and are doing a brisk trade in dry bags and waterproof bags, and floats, for phones. The Chinese have all the gear, the locals keep sensibly…
MaryGold will go down as the least favorite of the 15 places we stayed on a recent vacation. Pros - good beach bar - good location for taking tours Cons - very small room - bathroom smells of sewer water - breakfast was poor (actually went out to nearby restaurant for breakfast on day 2 - bay in front of hotel is polluted and one can not swim in water - location is poor, stay outside El Nido town. Be very careful if eating anything in El Nido town. They currently have a bad water problem. El Nido is beautiful island. I would recommend staying outside town - Maremegmeg beach area was great.
Let me start by saying that I travel all the time for my work and pleasure. I have stayed in different type of accommodations, anywhere from hostels to a Five-Diamond hotel and visited third to first world countries. I can make a difference between reality and unrealistic travellers expectations. LOCATION: I give +5*. You can't get any better than this place. Its right in the core of the city with restaurants, market etc and directly on the beach. If you do tours, no need to walk or take a tricycle. The boats are right there! The location of this hotel is perfect. ROOMS/HOTEL: Okay, people need to remember it's a third world country, not Cancun and not a resort town. If you are expecting all of the above, El Nido is not for you. The rooms are basics. Like going to a…
