The hotel is conveniently located at the beach and it has its own beach area behind the fence. This is a big plus as you can always have shade to avoid the scorching sun. I have 2 complaints for this hotel - rooms B and C are directly next to the generator. It is impossible to sleep when the generator is on. The first time I was awoken by the generator was at 5am on our first night. Being awoken from deep sleep I genuinely thought there was some emergency evacuation for the island (ha ha). So the tip for other travellers is refuse to stay in rooms B and C. I believe you can still hear the generator from the other rooms but it is not going to be as bad. My other complain is that staff has got our breakfast right twice for the 6 night stay in the hotel, so it was always a surprise what you’d be eating in the morning

The rooms where pretty clean and it’s right on the beach although you can’t swim at the beach. The inn is situation in the centre of town so everything is walking distance and the towns not too big. The staff were really friendly and breakfast was included in our rate which you have a choice of food. There is a karaoke bar very close which closed at midnight so if you’re there to party is not an issue and it’s actually really amusing. The only downside was there was a few ants in our room but we did have food in there so I’m sure that’s the reason but I would definitely stay there again.

Perfectly positioned with great views of the bay . Loved the rooms very clean , and I say rooms as we stayed for a week and because of how busy it was we had to book 3 times for 7 days as the likes of booking.com tell you it’s fully booked unless you go down to daily then you can get a room just means moving to another room occasionally.

The staff are truly amazing, breakfast delivered to your table outside your room if you like that which we did.

Most reviews have mentioned the noise which is beyond the hotels control. It seems absolute madness that the karaoke bars blast the music out so loud, they are literally biting the hand that feeds them. It’s every hotel on the beachfront that suffers.

I will definitely return, I loved it there.

The MaryGold Inn is a quaint and small inn with a lovely beachfront view and shady trees with hammocks. The staff are exceptional! They are all so friendly and accommodating. The rooms are small but satisfactory and clean with cooling and ensuite bathrooms. The little breakfast nook is fine and brekkie was ok. This inn is right in the thick of all the action! Shops, restaurants, bars and more just outside the gate. The only thing I wished for was more quiet at night. Which the MaryGold cannot change being next to a karaoke bar. The hotel is self was great!

The hotel is located directly on the beach.
Rooms very clean, staff very friendly and helpful.
The hotel has a small garden with loungers and hammocks, which makes the time very pleasant.
Very good wifi.
The hotel quite expensive, but its location and the view from the room is worth it (I mean room #2 located in the main building).

This is a very basic clean room, but the location is great. The breakfast was fantastic and delivered to the room. The property is cozy with a great view. There are hammocks to enjoy and small table outside of the room to sit and enjoy the view. All of the staff were friendly.

We booked six rooms for a party of eighteen four months before we arrived. You would think that they would prepare for a large group, but clearly, they did not. After a grueling trip from the airport via a rickety van, we cannot even freshen up because the towels they provided were damp. We handed it back to the staff and all they could say was the dryer was not working, we could get dry ones in the morning. All our meals were served VERY late because it looked like they didnt have enough staff to work on it. Which of course, begs the question why, when we have booked months ago. The rooms were tiny and dirty and bathrooms had very low water pressure.

Our whole stay in this hotel was a nightmare. The beaches and the islands were phenomenal and still worth the visit. It would have been a perfect beach getaway had we taken more time to look this hotel up and braced ourselves on what they had to offer.

FYI, there is NO electricity in most hours during the day, and there is NO generator. Plan your day well so you dont get stuck in the hell hole of a room without AC....

We arrived at Marina Garden Resort on June 17, 2012. We were welcomed by the receptionist warmly...The room was very clean and they have strong water supply...almost everyone was very kind and "magalang"...you will always be greeted with warm smiles.

Hmmm. Must say I can't see what all the fuss is from some of these earlier reviews. We had a very pleasant three days at Marina Garden. We stayed in room #1 which overlooked the beach and upon arrival some of the staff were positioning freshly painted furniture in our room. A good omen!
The best thing about this place is its position...close to everything and on the nicest and widest stretch of beach. My e-mail dealings with Giselle were excellent: prompt and efficient. The room was very tidy and although they do not clean unless requested, when they do service your room it done to a good standard.
The rooms may not be palatial but they are very sound value for money, plus they felt very secure. The view from our room was lovely and it's an easy beachside stroll to pretty much everything. What's more, even though there are bars and restaurants next door, they didn't disturb us at all.
The only downside (and this is easily fixed if the management care to listen to this advice) was the breakfast. Some would say our waitress was careless when I suspect the staff they employ are young and not particularly well trained in dealing with the needs of your average traveler. She was by no means rude, just not at all proactive or interested in making sure that our needs were met. Shall we say indifferent? Moreover, the food was pretty ordinary. Tiny scoops of jam, forgetable bread, sachet coffee and powdered juice. Plus, we were expecting lots of lovely local tropical fruit when instead we were given a quarter of an orange. Mangoes, melons and pineapple, which appear plentiful and cheap in the market place were largely absent from our breakfast menu.
That said, there are plenty of good places to eat just up the road and this shouldn't put you off. It's just a missed opportunity on the hotel's behalf. They have one of the best views in El Nido and with a little tweaking (better breakfast and happier, interested waitresses) this place could really sing.
I would stay there again.

Can you swim at the beach out the front of the Inn ?
Answer from TorontoMom50
Toronto, Canada116 contributions53 helpful votes
It is not advised, or at least not without a very good shower afterwards. Mind you, getting to some of the island tour boats often requires walking out chest high to get on/off the boat. It offers a pretty view, several restaurants along the beach and is clean at the beach level. Perhaps not for a leisurely swim, but there are 3 other beaches nearby.

Hello! I paid for our hotel separately. The only package tour I booked with MaryGold Beachfront Inn was the Underground River Tour and Private Van transfer from Puerto Princesa to El Nido (roundtrip). All the rest of our tours in El Nido were done separately. Private Van Transfer (roundtrip) PHP 11,000 Underground River Tour PHP 11,700 The total package cost PHP 22,700 for six persons for a day trip. This private tour was made possible because we traveled as a family of six at that time. oliveolc from Ontario, Canada

Hello do you have a shuttle service from Puerto to your place, and how much is the cost. Than you

Hello Florencio! I booked our private van transfer from Puerto to Marygold Inn, El Nido and back with Harbour Bay Travel and Tours (affiliated with Marygold). There were six of us and for a roundtrip I paid 11,000 Philippine pesos at that time. Go to MaryGold website. E-mail them (they're prompt to respond) and ask if they have a public van transfer which will be cheaper if you are traveling alone. Hope this will help! oliveolc Ontario, Canada
