I spent 3 nights at mantiloc resort (not to be confused with maniloc run by el nido beach resorts) the latter getting lots of international acclaim. Firstly yes. They do not serve alcohol but you can buy it in el nido before getting on the boat and they will serve it to you. If you have wine they happily place it in an ice bucket and bring it to the beach. It’s a very cheap option and must cost the resort 100000,s. The setting is simply spectacular. Incredible in fact. You will be hard pushed to find better anywhere in the world. I spent hours just taking in the natural beauty. This resort is in a very privileged position and about 15 mins boat ride to big lagoon. The accommodation is good. Not excellent but let’s say very good considering where you are. Beds are super comfy and water pressure is great. Don’t forget you are on an island. It does need an upgrade. The staff are super good. They really are. One of the hosts called Ian is simply world class and should be working in an Aman hotel or a four seasons. His attention to detail is so so so good. He made my stay. He really did. Ian should be leading the front end of guest relations. The beach is stunning. The snorkelling in front of the resort is incredible. So much fish. You can spend hours looking. The coral is in a very very good state although crown of thorn star fish have appeared and will need to be controlled or the reef will die. The excursions they offer are great. It’s a pricier option but I would take the speed boat private tour. Perfect. The food is of a good standard. The menu large enough to keep you entertained for a week Breakfast is again great quality and the staff will serve you iced water all day long. This resort really tries hard to make your stay magical. They have so much potential. The caveats are. There appears to be no approach to reduce plastics. They can do better and more eco friendly. This is really important to get ahead of the game. The resort needs investment and upgrading. They are losing out on competing with the other high end resorts. They have all the things needed just investment and upgrading of the rooms. It’s an island resort and it is airy and open and they do a great job of setting the tables for dinner. So nice but for me I just missed a polished luxury experience which the hotel is certainly capable of. I really would like this hotel to do well and get some international press. It’s deserved. It’s unique and a very special place. I put down some of the above to the post pandemic challenges but fair to remind them of what they could be. Go is my recommendation.…
I have a reservation which has been indicated as 'non-refundable' which I was adamant to book because I have no intention to cancel nor modify the reservation. However, due to their local lock down, people can't access the island on the dates I've booked the reservation, and was told that they couldnt accommodate me either. They wont even refund not a single cent for the accommodation, ans was given the option to rebook within this year. Great, now I have to spend thousands of dollars for plane tickets just to avail the resort. It's pure greediness. This kind of circumstance is not any of the guest's fault, not unless they would want us to disobey the travel ban just to avail the reservation
The place is awesome.service is really good..food is great too..our beach villa is so huge that is mind blowing😊..was surprised with the monkeys !🤪 Definitely I will come back soon..highly recommend..
Not only they chose not to serve alcoholic beverages, but also you are not allowed after 5pm to go to the city to buy any!!! This is because, supposedly, “the coast guard does not allow their boat to cruise at night”!!! THIS SHOULD BE WRITTEN WITH CAPITAL LETTERS ABOVE THE HOTEL NAME EVERYWHERE AND THEY DON’T EVEN MENTION IT IN THEIR POLICY, LET ALONE THEIR RESERVATION EMAILS!!! I wonder, if there is a health issue -God-forbid- would their boat be allowed to go to the nearest hospital?
Whilst in El Nido, one of the major things you simply should do is stay in one of the island resorts. And for quite a while, it seemed like the options have been limited. So when we discovered Matinloc, we could not have been happier. The island and its beach front is ”jawdroppingly” STUNNING. The first time our speed boat slowed down as it prepared to stop near the island’s entryway, we were speechless. (+) Food and drinks were very tasty Rooms were comfortable Loved the laid back and private vibe The view and the marine life in this area are simply priceless (-) Decor can still be improved - lacks personality and style All toilets in this property had ill-fitting toilet seats. You should know that this resort does not serve alcohol but they allow you to bring your own stash with no corkage fees. We did not mind at all—who wants to pay for overpriced cocktails anyway. …
