I wanted a hotel that was close to restaurants etc . Sea cocoon was a good choice. My room faced the road but there was no problem with noise. Room huge and the whole hotel is spotlessly clean. Loved the air compressor at the front to get the sand off before entering. We couldn’t really get hot water in the shower but it was so hot outside it didn’t bother me. - transfer from airport 500 php car ( tricycle 300 php) - tour company affiliated with the hotel was good and it was just around the corner to get on the boats - breakfast was simple Staff were amazing.

Property's Favorite Review
El Nido is great to visit and we were there for 9 days which allowed us to take our time and not feel rushed to do everything all at once. The Sea Cocoon is on the edge of El Nido, but as it is a small town this means only 50 steps to be walking past bars and restaurants and a few minutes to the beach itself while at the same time feeling a bit quieter in the hotel itself. The hotel itself was modern, kept clean at all times with free water provided every day and all staff polite and helpful at all times. The desk was always manned and there was a great choice of food at breakfast as long as you are not after a full english breakfast. The room itself was a good size with modern air conditioning and bathroom and a free safe for small valuables.

Great location, just the right distance from the noise and the hustle and bustle of the town. Lovely staff, spotless hotel, nice little pool area to chill out. Good value airport pick up. Missed breakfast as knackered after a long day of travel. Great choice for a few days

Good location with plenty of bars and restaurants around. We checked in and I was given a list of rules, First for me ever and I travel a lot, it felt weird. Never mind, the staff were lovely and friendly. Our room on the forth floor was very comfy, beds good with a nice shower (no hot water though). Great aircon, we didn't manage to get either the safe or tv working but we could have asked for help. A little downer - when my husband turned the light on in the bathroom during the night it shone right on my face and woke me, also when there is a lift it will be a lot better. Breakfast was pretty average, omelettes were great and the pool is lovely.

Lovely hotel on the outskirts of the noise but 50 stents to the beach so for me perfectly situated. The meet and greet was clear and concise, the staff cheerful and thorough.’ I must say everywhere I looked and people were constantly cleaning. What really sold the hotel before arriving was the owners two dogs, absolutely stunning and extremely spoilt, loved them. We asked for room near the ground and that we would be arriving early and all was in hand on arrival, a truly fabulous experience, Rooms are spacious with very comfortable beds, nice flatscreen tv with plenty of channels, very good air-con and enough plug sockets for the many gadgets we now carry. Good size bathroom with toiletries and a rainforest shower. Breakfast is a varied choice and a good stat to kick off the day, you could eat off the floor it’s that clean. The pool is wonderful, it can get very hot when sunbathing but a quick dip and you back to feeling refreshed ( they do need to put signs up where the showers are as it looked like it was part of the kitchen). It’s been made into a beautiful place to relax and unwind. There is building go on but it not bad and time restricted. The work on the roof will soon become a bar and restaurant which will be fantastic. The owner of this hotel has a vision, an exciting vision which I am looking forward to returning next year to see the finished project. Just a note :- El Nido has a serious problem with water contamination in the sea and in the water pipes, this hotel is playing a futuristic role in combatting these huge problems with water treatment plant and a green sewage treatment system making it more sustainable, and in doing giving a healthier environment for the tourists than in the other hotels in El Nido where The was lots of sickness and Diarrhoea I had it twice. I stayed at 3 hotels over a 3 week period and had no issues with sea cacoon hotel so he’s definitely doing something right. We done and we will definitely stay here again The reception is at had 24 hour a day and the night manager Paul is extremely professional and helpful,

Sea Cocoon Hotel is centrally located in El Nido town which gives easy walking access to the Restaurants , Bars and the beach for Tour pick up . They have a good tour operator partner with nicer boats to offer. This boutique hotel is under expansion and will have a future cafe at the roof deck level ( something to look forward to!) will come back anytime !

The hotel is quite old and with some part in renovation which made noise from 9am to 5pm. This was not for me a big problem as we went out for tours, but the main problem was that we booked a superior room which (as all other superior rooms in each floor) was on the opposite side of the entrance facing the sea and unfortunately the main street where there are two night bars playing SUPER LOUD MUSIC until 4 am. It was really impossible to sleep. The second night, very disappointed, around midnight we went down to ask the receptionist to change our room, and we found the manager who told us he could not sleep as well. They offered for the night a room facing the entrance street which was acceptable, but to remain there for the next days we had to pay a difference fee. Thus we decided to check out the following morning asking a refund to booking which, I hope, is underway. Moreover the breakfast, which was included, was really basic with very few options for non Filipino people and still served as under covid period. Overall not a very good experience, considering we were at 3rd floor without lift and the high price of the room compared to the services offered and the other solutions y can find nearby (we moved in another very quite hotel at half price).

Response from Eric Sugui, General Manager at Sea Cocoon Hotel
Responded 12 Apr 2023
Not quite the way you described it. You stated you would transfer to another hotel and demanded a refund which I obliged (done as of this writing). But for that night only, I voluntarily offered you a more expensive room on the other side of building. You liked the room and demanded to continue your stay without adding payment which I refused. You are blaming us for the noise we did not cause and beyond our control. Rebuffed at an opportunistic bargain, our hotel suddenly becomes the worst one there is! Our 8-year old hotel is well maintained and improving. Our new elevator is coming into operation in a few months. Our new 6th floor view deck will have the best view of El Nido bay. Our buffet will permanently remain behind glass to prevent cough and saliva from contaminating the food. Good protocol to keep in place, forever. BTW, the loud noise was gone the following nights.

I have never felt so welcome and safe in a hotel better than this hotel. Everyone is honestly smiling and greeting very respectfully. It could be their training or they are naturally sweet and attentive. Our room has everything you will need including spaces to put your things, including a safe/vault which is really great! And the bathroom and toilet is very spacious. There is a balcony if you need to just get some natural air and view the swimming pool area. Before hand, I already know the hotel's "NO visitors allowed in the rooms" policy, although you may entertain your visitors in the lobby where they have a little , sit down reception area. This policy makes me feel safe that all who enters that main door is being checked if they are registered as hotel guests or not. As far as location is concerned, I specifically chose this hotel because of the location where you can easily go around by foot and find the necessities you might need in the course of your vacation. It is in the heart of town, with groceries, a church, pharmacy, and most specially , the tourist area with restaurants and shopping places. It was so close to the beach where our island hopping tour was to start. We met the owners who were so accomodating, hospitable and respectful. I will return to this hotel on my next trip to El Nido and I will definitely tell my relatives to book their upcoming vacation at the Sea Cocoon Hotel. Excellent experience that is all I can say!!!!

Do not stay here. It’s is a hostel, not a hotel. They lie on TripAdvisor and Booking.com! Sea Cocoon Do not stay here. The photos online make it look way nicer than it is. This is not a hotel, it is a hostel with private bathrooms, charging more than even a hotel would in the same area or better areas. The construction and noise are non-stop. Do not stay here! Cons: -The price, over $125 USD a night, when you can book much nicer, newer hotels and hotels on the beach are the same or less. -There is no view of the beach, only rusty tin roofs and water tanks that read “BESTANK” (see photo) -Speaking of beach, the beach it is walking distance to is El Nido Beach, which is NOT a swimmable/relaxing beach. It’s a boat-docking beach with no where to lay out. -The noise - contraction jack hammers allllll day (on the actual hotel - none of this was disclosed when booking), then children screaming and basketball horns blaring into the night, and lastly dogs barking incessantly from well before sun-up. There is nothing relaxing or “cocoon”-like here. -There is no bar or restaurant on property, you know like any other hotel in the area has. -There is no elevator, they said “it’s been broke for a while”. -You’re not allowed to bring ANY friends in to your room. They will physically stop you and be incredibly rude to your friends. I’m paying YOU money to stay in the space, even hostels allow friends. -They only give you two towels at a time. They towels are cheap and feel like sandpaper, even have holes in them. We had to ask for more towels twice before we got more, then they demanded the old ones in return. Again, this is not a hotel, it is a hostel. -There is no furniture on the balcony, we had to move chairs out. Again, view is just horrible so we didn’t bother until the last day. -The bathroom is tiny, with no sink space and itty bitty shelves that didn’t begin to hold our toiletries, like a hostel. -They make you sign a long list of “rules” and demand a cash deposit. Again, like a hostel. THIS IS NOT A HOTEL, it is a hostel. -The hotel guests - big families that were just horrible, rude and loud in the breakfast area, especially the parents (the backpackers were mostly nice though). Pros -There is free breakfast, but it is VERY limited - French toast, pancakes, black coffee (no dairy-free milk options), water-down juice, rice and some sort of protein option. There was an omelette station which was nice. -There was a pool, but it only get’s sun at noon and again, no bar, also no music. -It is walking distance to the market and restaurants, but you can easily hail a trike to get around for a couple USD so this isn’t a selling point. -The staff was incredibly nice, for the most part. Especially the guys working the doors - they were the best part of the property. However, there was one specific older, balding man working the desk that was downright mean from the minute we checked in. He was annoyed by any question or concern we had. He stared at us and gave us dirty looks whenever we passed. He only smiled ONCE, and it was to tell us we owe money for the airport shuttle (that he forgot to get when we checked in-maybe do your job instead of being so mean). It was like $10 USD, so no big deal to us, buddy. Do NOT stay at the Sea Cocoon! Unless you want to pay higher-end hotels prices for literally a hostel.

Response from Eric Sugui, General Manager at Sea Cocoon Hotel
Responded 8 Mar 2023
For a balanced view of your situation: Dear Mr PS and partner, please check other big hotels to see their prices are higher than ours. Next time book directly with us the same room for $90 only (instead of $125 elsewhere). El Nido is a typical Filipino rural town with wall-to-wall neighbors. Beach is not hotel’s responsibility. Construction noise was advised when booking; check your voucher. The town has sports events at nearby gymnasium so people are in a festive mood leading up to the town fiesta. Neighbor’s barking dog has been reported but still un-acted upon. Bar/restaurant is going up in our view deck. Elevator was disabled by typhoon Odette and is being rehabilitated. Towels will be replaced with new ones soon. Outdoor chairs can be moved inside room or outside, your choice. Sorry, we will still not allow visitors to the room for the safety of all registered guests (excluding your unregistered stranger/sudden acquaintance). This visitor of yours whom you tried to bring in at around 10:00 pm is familiar to us; he is frequently seen escorting foreign tourists about town at night. Some people are noisy while some people complain; we are caught between a rock and a hard place. We will deal responsibly with old baldie who ably enforced our no visitor policy. While you are entitled to your opinions, you just labeled our other reviewers liars (out of frustration?). Enjoy the rest of your stay in El Nido with your dear loved ones, new and old. Please be fair and enlightened: two is company, three is a crowd.

The first impression of this hotel is the genuine hospitality. Eric the manager was there on arrival to personally greet us, and the doorman and receptionist were also all smiles. We were always welcome and greeted each time we returned to the hotel for the duration of our stay, we felt well cared for. This was especially important for us travelling with a 7 year old. It is also apparent the staff are happy and long term employees (confirmed by Eric). Having stayed at both 5-star big chain hotels (Manila) and beach resorts (Coron Island) on this holiday, surprising this bed and breakfast style hotel has been my favourite. It is a small, clean, well run hotel, with 28 rooms, literally around the corner from all the restaurants and shops and the main beach where the tours depart. Things to know: - there are 4 floors and no lift, relevant for those with physical disability. We (including our 7 year old) had no problem with the flights of stairs (we were on the top floor, good exercise!) - There is a small pool, useful for a dip or play with kids. It is not a resort-style pool, but was adequate and peaceful to hang around on our rest day from tours - Breakfast is cooked to order, you must order the night before. Food is tasty although slightly small servings (if you have a big appetite) - Each floor has a water cooler, which makes such a big difference, not having to lug plastic bottles of water to the room every night (which is what we have been doing all over the rest of Philippines) - There is no bar fridge in the room, although we did not need one with the water coolers on each floor. I am sure if something needs refrigeration the staff would happily accomodate - Rooms are a decent size, plenty of storage and enough room even with our 3 suitcases - There are 2 resident chow chow dogs, one which is friendly and the other which is less so, although Eric takes great care to make sure the dogs are kept away from guests who may be scared of dogs
