If you are looking for a secluded, romantic getaway, I can highly recommend Vellago Resort. The staff went above and beyond in every way. They tidy the room every time you leave, bring breakfast to your terrace, and arrange the daybeds at the beach for you. Everyone there went out of their way to make sure we had a nice stay. The wifi in the room is good and the food is delicious. Since there are only a handful of rooms, you really feel like you have the whole place to yourself. If you are planning a trip to El Nido , you cannot miss this place!

My friends and I had an amazing experience at the Vellago resort. The location is special with the soft white sand and warm turquoise waters. It felt like a dream driving up in the speedboat and seeing our home away from home for the next 4 days. The staff was very warm, friendly and extremely accommodating. The food and drinks were delicious. (Thanks Abe!) The staff did everything they could to make sure we had an special experience. What stands out and suggestions for future guests? We arranged through the hotel (and splurged) on a private tour of local islands which included our own priority of activities, islands, hand holding and our own "lounge" for lunch on the beach. I highly recommend it.. We also had several in room massages arranged which were lovely too. The breakfast was delicious and generous (included in the room rate). Every night the staff would decorate our beach side table which was picture perfect. We were very satisified with the quality and quantity of the food and drinks. What would I do differently? Spend one more time on the beach enjoying the views. What could be improved? We had a lovely room that could accommodate the 3 of us. Maybe it's from a non-honeymooners perspective ,but bathroom privacy with an optional shade is an easy optional feature that in our case would have been appreciated. We had a WiFi issue and when the staff was told, we had it fixed within 30 mins. No issues with warm water. I highly recommend this location for a special occasion location.

Romantic, quirky adults only 3 star resort in a 7 star location (for El Nido / Corong Corong area). PROS -the only resort in the area that you can actually swim at low tide -sea is clear like in the outer islands -water is not as murky as El Nido / Vanilla Beach -pretties beach in the El Nido / Corong Corong area -great service -food is good 5 minute boat ride to Corong Corong (for 800 php per way) -day trippers visiting 7 commando Beach are a non-issue -appreciated having our breakfast brought to us every morning (nice touch) -island tour companies will pick you up at your front door -very few bugs CONS -cabins are dated...especially the bathrooms + tv -isolation...if you wish to roam freely in the area -limited privacy on balconies...no black out blinds / curtains -open bathroom -very poor internet This place is ideal for a romantic couple that loves staying on great swimming beaches.

Beautiful extremely unique hotel experience. The staff is extremely warm and welcoming, ready to cater to any need of yours. The setting is beautiful and the room was clean and had a perfect view. Wish we could have stayed longer. In terms of the power not being on all day (this was a concern of mine after reading other reviews)- this wasn’t a problem at all. Hot water still worked, we were barely in our room and it wasn’t noticeable at all since it’s normally bright and sunny during the day. The waves hit right below your room and you’ll be lulled to sleep by them! Also recommend doing the boat tour the hotel coordinates- it’s more expensive than the tours offered in town but provided a more intimate experience with a smaller group. Only slight downfall is the food menu isn’t large so if you’re there for a long time, maybe coordinate heading into town for some dinners. That being said dinner is set up nightly on the beach and WOW do they do it up!! Thanks for a great stay here.!!

Thank you very much for taking your time to give us a feedabck and your understanding due to the power shortage. We are in fact currently installing again a solar system which we lost during a fire last October wich means, we will be able to provide 24h power in 2 weeks.

This is a bit of a difficult review as we enjoyed our stay here but felt that it doesn't quite paint the picture as described. When you pay over £400 a night it should be outstanding. The staff are amazing particularly the restaurant and bar. The food is really good too especially there calamari. all the others are friendly and willing to help. Having breakfast served to you on your balcony is really nice. Of course the views from any room you get will be breathtaking as your on the seven commando islands. Swimming around is really nice and you get free hire of the kayaks and snorkeling gear. Now for some of the little things. We had on and off electricity for our staff. Which we didn't know about till we arrived. Not their fault the solar panels broke but should of let us know. The WiFi is really bad which I know for a lot of people will be a problem. Didn't have a door key as something wrong with lock. I mean with only 6 rooms it's probably not a big issue. These are all easy fixes though. I think the main problem is that it's sold as a private escape with private beach. Only can get there by speedboat. However it's still one of the stops for tour A. So everyone uses the beach up to a few meters from the stairs and quite a lot of time the private area. Also the restaurant and bar so then doesn't feel so private. This wouldn't be a problem is you weren't paying a lot to stay there. We only had a few days so it wasn't a massive problem for us but can see it would be if you were staying a week or so. Maybe even a basic sign is needed or some of the rocks over the private area. Overall most of the things will be sorted like electricity and WiFi i suspect. And the rooms are nice so will happy with the view you get.

Hello Paul, Thank you for your feedback which is appreciated to improve ourselves. We already made sure that there are no walk-in guests passing the reception and disturb ours guests below the balcony. We never sold our resort as private island since we are not allowed to block the beach in front of the restaurant. We reserve, however, always tables in our restaurant for our in-house guests or alternatively reserve the second floor of the restaruant for them. The internet is depending on the cell-tower which is not even bad compared to parts of El Nido but maybe not as fast as in your home country. Our power is back to normal in about two weeks. I hope we see you here again

We purchased a Romantic Dinner for our employee that got married in December 2022, we paid and made the booking, but unfortunately, their flight to Palawan got cancelled because of the power interruption in Manila airport. We called Thomas to cancel the 6 January 2023 booking, and he agreed to issue a refund. It's been more than a month, no refunds or responses to emails and phone calls have been received. I will make sure to pass this experience to other people here in Australia that will be travelling to Palawan to avoid this dishonest hotel and restaurant. A formal complaint is on the way!

Hello, We explained several times that international bank wires out of the Philippines cannot be done like in any other developped country by e-banking due to money laundry. The only way for us is going to Manila to the bank branch personally. This is one hour flight which we have done already and sent you the refund. Regardless of this, you wrote rather a personal review which does not have anything to do with a review to our resort nor the restaurant.

Spectacular. Beautifully designed and detailed. Intimate 6 bedroom resort that exceeded expectations at every level. To summarise - The best team of staff, friendly owner, great food and stunning location. Staff/Service Friendly, personable, caring and attentive. As all visitors we arrived by boat and were welcomed by the entire team who were there to greet us with hand towels and welcome drinks, our bags were taken to our room. The staff who work the resort work tirelessly from dawn to midnight. Groundsmen are constantly maintaining and doing small jobs around the resort to keep it looking fantastic. Each and every one of the bar/restaurant staff are great people, and will go out of their way to ensure you are cared for and have everything you need. Special mention to VERNE and ANGELO who really go out of their way for you, and the ‘architect of romance’ (we don’t know your name) but he is the man who sets up the evening beach dinners who does it with such passion and enthusiasm. The Austrian owner Thomas directs the operation and he would be seen a few times a day checking in on guests and keeping an eye on the service of his staff to ensure everything was up to standard. A pleasant approachable and friendly man to talk to over a beer. Last but not least the 5 resort dogs who have the best life are each great individuals in their own right and if you like dogs you will enjoy getting to know their personalities during your stay. ‘blackie’ will gift you with a leaf in his mouth in the morning as he sees you approach from your room to make your breakfast order. good boy. Location/setting We did a few tours in El Nido and the surrounding islands/area and didn’t see a location or a resort that came close to Vellago. It is on a semi-private beach tucked right at the end as far away as possible from the day trippers who land on seven commandos beach. The view from the rooms and beach overlooks the islands of El Nido bay and produces a great sunset every evening. If you like snorkelling, the house reef is incredible. We have never seen such a dense and rich accumulation of delicate corals and marine life a stones throw off the beach of our hotel, even in the Maldives. It’s very special. Thomas does a good job of protecting it from the boat tours and my message to future guests would be to help preserve this reef by not stepping on it and breaking it apart like the beach next door which is inundated by day trippers. it’s a luxury to have this on the door step and should be cherished. Our only annoyance was mostly at the pretence of loud boat tour visitors dropped off way further down the beach who walk up to the resort and spend 15 minutes at a time taking a photoshoot as if they are staying at the resort, or them visiting the bar and overhearing them complain about the prices. 200Php for a beer, ‘so expensive’ you would hear them moan. And? This is a beautiful place, it is clear money has been invested here to make it what it is. Unfortunately these people are chancers who lack the intelligence to grasp what the resort is. However you will find that the main bulk of these tours arrive around 10:00-11:30 and another set in the afternoon around 14:00-15:30. Apart from that you mostly have the beach to yourselves. Also Vellago make a point of keeping the beachfront seats at the bar/restaurant and sun loungers for hotel guests only. Morning/evening walks on the beach at dawn/sunset (under the guardianship of at least 2 of the resort dogs) were beautiful and peaceful. Room As pictured. Superb. No need to say more. Food Great chef. Unbelievable, freshly made from great high quality produce. The base menu is smallish, but varied and high quality. The chef will also release two tasty daily specials on a chalk board to keep things varied. It’s a mixture of asian dishes and western dishes. We ate the ceviche every day and didn’t get sick. This consists of raw fish, which is unheard of in the phillipines. The fish was such high quality. Breakfast is made to order and served on the balcony of your room overlooking the bay which makes for a great start to the day. Again beautifully served by the staff. The worst bit about this resort is having to leave it haha!

Where to begin? Our stay at Vellago ranks with the best vacations we’ve had. The setting is breathtaking. Impossible to put into words. The accommodations are well appointed and thoughtful. What makes this place so special is the private setting (yes, guests show up from the island tours, but it’s not that big an issue as this is for maybe 4 out of 24 hours of privacy - compared to 0 hours at other resorts) and the staff. So much appreciation for Abe, Marcelo, Josephine and Thomas and the entire staff. We loved it so much we spontaneously decided to become engaged to be married. My partner John and I are already planning a return- likely our honeymoon!

My wife saw this hotel from a post on Instagram so we wanted to experience it as well. This hotel is only accessible from boat but we did a private tour and was dropped put right after. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a necklace and drinks. Hotel manager and staff checked us in and showed us our room. The room was totally amazing with alot of area where you can relax to enjoy the ocean view. I believe there are only 6 rooms available throughout the resort. There's a private beach there with lounging area, a bar and restaurant. The food we order was really good but was hoping for more meat option. Other than that, I have no complaints. Staff was nice and helpful also. There is a boat that can take you to the town for a fee as well.

FOOD & PRICES First of all, some prices of the hotel's restaurant: - Local San Miguel bier: 200 PHP = 3.44 USD - Pizza: 890 PHP = 15.29 (Aurugula, blue cheese and ham) - Tuna main dish: 990 PHP = 17.01 USD On top of this they charge an additional 10% for service. These are some of the prices for a not so great food. You can pay less than half the price for much better quality at El Nido or Corong-Corong. For the Bier you will pay 3 times less for the same brand. Even if you walk 5min to the opposite side of 7 commandos beach you will find a small bar where you will pay half the price for the same beer. The catch? In order to go to the cities you can only go by boat, and the hotel will charge you. I find really disgusting paying these prices, and thinking about it, more then 300 USD per night in a country where the average salary is around 200 USD per month. How can they justify those prices? Quality is impossible to justify, since we ate much better at the cities. Transport costs? I am sure that 15min boat does not make the bier multiply its price by 3, right?. Cost of the staff? Well, taken the average salary in Philippines into account, don't think so. LOCATION & NOISE The hotel is locate in one side of 7 commandos beach, a nice beach 15 minutes by boat either from Corong-Corong or from El Nido. It is one of the main touristic attractions of the area, so many tours include it as a stop. This means that from 9.30-11.30 and from 14.00 to 16.00 you will have a crazy amount of boats disembarking tourists. To give you an idea, there are so many boats that they will get close to the beach, disembark their tourist and go away from the beach so the rest of the boats can disembark their tourists. The boats used for the tours are traditional and we really enjoyed sailing in them, unfortunately, the are really noisy and pollutant. During 7 hours per day you will continuously hear them. So even the hotel has only 6 rooms, you will share the beach with hundreds and hundreds of people. The hotel has a private area, but just in case any of the tourists want to eat or drink (and pay the crazy prices), they will allow them to come to the restaurant, which means crossing all the "not so private beach". ROOM & CLEANLINESS The rooms are nice, very well designed and comfortable. The rooms are clean although being so close to the jungle you will always find some insects or small animals. STAFF The best point of this hotel is the staff, they are really nice and they will help you with everything you need. At checkout they wanted to charge us for some restaurant bills that were not ours which in total was more than twice our real expenses but everyone makes mistakes. CONCLUSION There are much better options in the area. If you want a exclusive experience check other resorts that are in real private places and cost the same.
