This was a wonderful place to stay and you aren't going to meet friendlier, kinder people than the owners John and Bea, who are from America originally. They had a small party for the 4th July and invited us to join them and gave us...More
I booked this hotel for my family, partner and I after reading the earlier reviews, which were very accurate. The resort run by John, Ayn and Lala as well as the other staff had impeccable customer service, in which they went above and beyond.
This is a great place to stay for anyone wanting to explore the wonders of El Nido. The staff, particularly John, Ayn, Lala and Jay, made us feel extremely welcome and are some of the friendliest we've come across during our travels. They organised our...More

It is perfect to stay just outside the busy bustle of el Nido to sleep in the calm and peaceful Calaan Beach. My room had a sweet view over the bay, and was a simple, clean and comfortable stay for a reasonable price. If you're...More

Hi, i seem to remember John (the owner) saying we could use the kitchen but i might be wrong so check with him directly in advance. Also, you want to stay 2 weeks in Caalan?!?! There is no swimming in the vicinity, as the sea bed is covered with dead corals. You would have to rent a bike/car/ tricycle to move around or do the boat trips to beautiful places.
Mosquitos at night were a massive problem when we went last April so bring 100% deet and ensure you cover every inch of your body from sun down and before you go to bed. Although mosquitoes are seasonal so you might be lucky!
Don't spend your whole holiday in El Nido, just do enough days to do the boat trips. If you want to stay in Palawan around El Nido check out around Las Cabanas beach, swimming is possible here. Or Duli Beach, only had one resort when i was there but the beach was a dream, although getting there it's not easy but once here you can relax and be a beach bum. These areas are a bit more expensive but still affordable. Or even better once you have finished exploring El Nido, take a short fly to another island. We went to Bohol and it was magic.
Caalan resort it's basic but staff are nice and they make the best breakfast. Be aware tho that there is a lot of accomodation in El Nido that is not advertised online. So you can get a room at arrival if you feel adventurous, prices starting from arond 800 pesos, nice new places.
It all depends what type of holiday you want, if you are active there's loads you can do here, even go to Coron. If you want to chill in paradise for 2 weeks don't stat in El Nido, it's not pretty, it's just a hub from where you'll do the boat trips.
I hope this helps and enjoy your trip!
