Lagen Island is a haven of tranquility nestled between a lush forest and a calm shallow lagoon. Its classic and modern design exudes an air of subdued elegance. Cottages, rooms and suites are well appointed over the water, beside the beach, or surrounded by verdant forest. Lagen Island is part of the El Nido Resorts group and is located in El Nido, northwestern part of Palawan. It takes a 75-minute direct flight from Manila or a 6-hour land trip from Puerto Princesa City (Palawan's Capital City).

We were 6 families and they planned everything for us. From booking the seats on air swift, to all the transfers, meals outdoors, island and lagoon tours. We stayed at the beachfront villas which had the perfect view. Just to get away and wake up to the sea was a treat for us. They don't do housekeeping services , so they had a broom and dustpan in the room for us to use. Towels and trash cans were left outside for them to replenish.. strict Covid protocols ...The staff were more than helpful and hospitable. In the other resorts, renting a boat and booking the tours would be a separate cost but with El Nido Lagen everything was inclusive - including all meals. They assigned us life vests from the start of the trip which we used for the entire 4 days. We all had to bring our own tumblers to refill drinking water as they don't give out plastic bottles to protect the environment. Over all it was the perfect trip!! Must visit the caves, the big and small lagoons,, Miniloc (for snorkeling) and snake island which the dads loved the most as they sat around enjoyed the cold beer that the resort brought. . We haven't even been home 24 hours and we already want to go back! Shout out to the entire staff of ElNido lagen Resort! Thank you for that memorable trip!!!

El Nido has a lot to offer to different kinds of tourists. Great resorts, great people. Beautiful scenery, lots of activities abound.
We stayed at the lagen Island, water cottage. I understand some both local and international tourists keep on coming back whenever they can to El Nido, it’s the best. At times you find yourself alone on a secluded small patch of beach, Paradise.
The resort: check them on the web, all information provided.
Staffs are very friendly( it’s the Philippines) they may sometimes deemed slow to some culture( Europeans tourists) but these staffs know what they’re doing, they are trained, believe me, I have been to many parts of the world where they have no clue whatsoever what they’re doing, only interested to rip you off.
Hygiene is very important to us especially when you don’t see or have it in places where we are at the moment in other part of the world. This place is so damn clean, fresh beddings, fresh towels fresh fresh fresh.... I know I can use superlative because that’s how we feel whenever your out of the country we are in at the moment.
I have so much great to say in this place especially when you have lived in some countries in Africa,( people who have lived years and years in some part of Africa know what I’m talking about). But what I like very much is the dedication to environmental protection. There’s so much “ green washing” around the globe, pretending to do good about the environment and end up messing it more by using “another green alternative” but this resort have kept trying to at least keep their environment healthy. And it’s not just now but even before, we were here 10 years ago.

All I can say, thank you to all staffs. You made our long over due return a dream come true. We felt most welcomed and pampered by your kindness.

Keep it up, save Palawan from over tourism, don’t let it happen. Many people out there would love to go and enjoy a not so crowded area and where they care about the environment.

Booked Lagen of El Nido Resorts for ease of planning as it offered airfare, full board meals and tours. However, the Reservation was the killer as response was very slow inspite of repeated emails, messenger, viber. They required RT-PCR even if the province is not requiring it anymore. So it was inconvenient and added cost to us esp when check in is March 31, and they said this requirement will be lifted in April ! There were a lot of forms to be filled in and documents. We were even asked to choose schedule of meals. It was so stressful that we wanted to cancel. All our requests were declined. When we got there, the hotel guides and staff were so accommodating and alert to meet our needs which made up for the lousy reservation. Our room is forest room but facing the pool and the sea. The room needs a table to put things as there are 3 of us. While the room looks clean, I find a lot of dust in the comfort room door. The reservation seems not align with the resort current practices as there was no stringent requirements, time of meals is not restricted even. There was no stretch of white sand in Lagen unlike in other cheaper resorts. The food is hit and miss, some food were too salty - soup, fish fillet, squid rubbery, crab was dry because apparently they cook/bake it in the oven, whereas it should be steamed. Dessert choices were few, just fruits, a small piece of cake or pudding. I had to pay for ice cream. For the happy hour, cocktail mixes are also not very tasty. Tours are standard - Big lagoon, small lagoon, kayaking, snorkling. What I love is the brief stay and lunch in Entalula beach where there is clear water, stretch of white sand. Snorkling here is very rewarding too. They didnt allow day trip to Miniloc due to travel bubble, but snorkling is Miniloc is the best with many fishes and corals. What made up is the attentiveness, hospitality of the staff and manager. Hopefully, they will improve on the aspects that fall short.

Benji was the best employee by far and definitely deserves a raise! Unfortunately his only job seems to be greeting you taking you to your destination.

The food was generally okay (drinks are expensive) that being said sunny side up eggs and room service meals were a step too far for the chef while we visited.

Me and a friend choose this hotel to relax for a few nights after a 14 day trip with a larger group. We were relaxed by and in ore of the surroundings, which are extremely beautiful.

The tours are included, unfortunately we were not informed fishing was available as that is something we would have definitely been up for. (It is in the book in your room, bear in mind it’s 30 degrees so easily missed if you don’t know)

When you arrive you are warmly greeted (with a song) to then be told of the sustainability and environmental efforts being undertaken, which is good, but you could also be better informed of things to stop you going out of your mind.

We visited during the corona scares so I expect it was quieter than usual, that being said it is without doubt the most quiet place I have ever been to, with not a lot going on except the tours which are overcrowded tourist spots.

It is a 100% couples a couples retreat, I’m not sure what age up to as some of the heat and activities may be harder for 55+ especially the hike over the island which was by far our favourite part. Whilst there we got to see a huge monitor lizard & monkeys (it is properly hot and humid so be prepared if you are older or unfit) Also it could do with a tidy that side of the island as there is rubbish everywhere and they are apparently keen on that sort of thing.

It did it’s job, we got refreshed, just felt a little like I was marooned on an island with not a lot going on and handed a big bill at the end, which could have been avoided if we had chosen somewhere with better routes in/out of mainland.

We were really looking for a family getaway after a year of lockdown but also wary of the ongoing pandemic. El Nido Resorts was the perfect choice because they have mastered the travel bubble concept, given everyone on the bubble is tested, arrives, and leaves the island at the same time, no one else enters the island while you're there. You depart from a private hangar which eliminates potential exposure in a public airport. Everyone on the plane was tested and is heading to the same resort. Once you get there, all the staff have been tested and live on the island. Nonetheless, everyone wore a mask, practiced social distancing and other hygiene practices. El Nido was beautiful and empty! We had all the lagoons, beaches, and islands to ourselves. This is the best time to go.

The nature is breathtaking, this relatively small report's location is hard to beat. It's a cliche but staff is beyond helpful: Gami was the best among the best, always uber attentive to our needs. You're got to take their island hopping tours daily to apprec6the beauty of El Nido and their guides, especially Lover and Bambam, deliver big. Exceptional Lover cared for elderly and children alike, making sure that those less comfortable on the water can enjoy it. We stayed at beachfront cottage (there's no beach, just a lagoon, but do take a 40 min hike through jungle to a great, empty, quiet beach on the other side of the island, or take a quick boat ride there) which was great. Food was adequate. You'll have lifetime memories after visiting this resort.

our trip to Lagen was amazing! it’s a journey to get there, but all so worth it. we traveled with our kids (4 & 5) and the experience and the memories made here are priceless.
the moment you get to the island you are greeted with song from the resort staff.
the food at the restaurant (one and only) was great. the food was delicious and every night there would be a live band performing.
we stayed at one of the water villas and it was great! the rooms are very clean offered enough space for our family.
i was a bit worried about mosquito bites but was reassured by the staff that they treat the resort to help minimize mosquitos.
the excursions offered was great. and the tour guides were very friendly and professional.
would definitely recommend.

We booked the acclaimed “water cottage” and were generally pleased with the accommodations, but nothing was really over-the-top, which is what I expect for this price category in the Philippines— USD 500+ per night (once taxes and fees are added to the mix).

By comparison, I stayed in a plush and modern water cottage in tres chic Bora Bora (at Le Meridien) a few years ago for about the same money. The accommodation at Le Meridien was much better appointed and furnished; and it featured “Tahitian television” (a glass floor in the living room for viewing fish) as well as a deck for entering the water directly from your cottage. Lagen Island’s cottages have neither of these features. Disappointing.

The Lagen Island cottages are cozy and clean, but a bit in need of refurbishment; and the lagoon below is too shallow for swimming or fish viewing. In fact, at low tide the there’s no water at all beneath them.

You need to take a boat to reach many activities at Lagen, including the white sand beach. That’s generally not a big deal, but in our case a distant typhoon made the surf too rough, so we were sort of stranded at the resort without a lot of options.

Tip: To see the monkeys, venture to the staff housing area uphill in the morning or late afternoon, and ask one of the workers where they hang out.
The food at Lagen is basically just the single casual, buffet restaurant. Not bad, not exactly gourmet. A buffet’s a buffet.

Overall, a nice stay, but not good value for the money. Eventually, Ayala will either have to raise their standards or lower their prices. Perhaps they are upgrading during the current virus slump.

We loved Lagen. They offered full board so we had delicious food from breakfast until dinner. Our tour guide, Arnel or more popularly known as Kuya Tams, was great - he was not only informative but very patient. He made sure we were always safe in our activities - kayaking, snorkeling, cave exploring and swimming. He also took our photos. The chef was also very accommodating and even gave us extra food we enjoyed. The manager Eds and all the service crew were really nice. The egg station chef patiently got our omelet orders, Gami and Jojo were also very attentive. They made sure we had drinks and fresh towels whenever we were at the pool without us even asking. They really made us feel so at home. Thank you Lagen. We hope to visit soon.

Where to start with this piece of paradise…
From the moment we landed in El Nido, your troubles are left at the airport, seamless transfers with a refreshment pitstop, welcome song and boat transfer.
The resort itself is immaculate, with a noticeable (in a good way) number of staff doing an amazing job maintaining the property with an eco approach.
The staff were amazing too, notably Marina at the front desk was extremely sweet. Both Winston and Gummie were utterly amazing, nothing was too much for them, always serving with a smile and going the extra mile from delicious iced tea mocktails with the most amazing leaf origami to having genuine conversations and a laugh with. Whole heartedly will miss their company on a daily basis.
The newly appointed executive chef for the el Nido group resided at the property during our stay and too was extremely knowledgable and professional, taking time to speak with us and ask our thoughts on the wonderful hotel. Not to mention the outstanding food, the fact this is included with the resort is amazing, the food is INCREDIBLE!
Additionally there are a number of activities to choose from both free and paid for, although the free activities were more than enough and amazing, so did not explore the paid activities.
Housekeeping gave personalised touches everyday and kept the room immaculate with wonderful pastime stories at turndown.
Overall the hotel is extremely high end, without the stuffiness and feels like a home from home.
Having travelled a lot and to multiple top grade hotels, the Lagen resort have truly perfected the qualities that is the wealth of life, being trouble free.
I cannot stress enough the need to book this bucket list hotel, it will be a favoured memory for a lifetime.

I was originally booked at Miniloc and the meals were included. Got moved to Lagen so I got the same deal. Drinks (alcohol) are in line with what you might pay in any bar. Sodas are a bit expensive but not crazy. All inclusive is the way to go. Between me and my girlfriend getting drinks, massage, buying a few items from the boutique our total for “extras” came to $135 US. That also included lagoon and environment fees.
