Images and prices are a bit misleading for this hostel. The restaurant (run separately) is very nice but the hostel itself falls well short for the (crazy) prices we paid. The rooms are pretty scruffy have poor ventilation / air con and there was no hot water in the shower. The pool (which looks great in the pictures) has no filtration - no one used it when we were there. The internet connection was almost non existent. I used my own data / SIM the whole time. Location is tricky - up a very steep hill which provides incredible views but is a little challenging and limits transfers which they charge a small fortune for. Construction work was going on during our stay and it looks like they'll be doing it for a few months. For £20 a night the double rooms would be fine but I wouldn't pay a penny more.

We spent 4 nights at this hostel.

First, be ready for an extreme drive up to the hostel on an unpaved road. There’s a hostel shuttle, which is nice, but it definitely made my heart skip a beat (but some people really enjoy it).

The view upon entering is amazing. The hang out lounge where you can order food and buy drinks is nice too. Easy to meet people from all around the world.

We stayed in a mixed dorm (3 double bunks). There is a locker for each person. There’s AC / fan in the room which helps to keep it fairly cool at night.

The beds were good and the sheets clean. On our last night, we found 3 cockroaches in the room, which was a bit of a scare.

The bathrooms are not the cleanest (especially the showers), which is why I’m rating this place average.

The WiFi and service in general are a bit slow up on the hill.
There’s a staircase shortcut to the beach you can take. We did that a lot.

Cash only if not paying via Trip Advisor or Booking.com. The staff doesn’t always speak English well.

I feel bad writing a bad review because the staff at the hostel were very friendly. The good points: the staff, the shuttle bus which you to/from town which saves you hiking up an enormous, steep hill (which the hostel is at the top of), the food in the hostel restaurant and the view of the beautiful beach from our room. There was also karaoke every evening, if that’s your thing.
The bad points: we booked a private shared room for four people through Agoda. When we arrived they said the room was only made up for three people - but they sorted this by bringing another mattress in and the four of us had plenty of space. The air conditioning unit was very old, loud and not properly fitted so it wasn’t particularly effective.
There were bugs all over the room, tiny little grey ant type things. They were over the beds, in the sink and on the floor.
There was no hot water in the bathroom at all.
The floors were dusty and dirty. The electrics were quite sketchy, as was the strange scaffolding contraption we had to walk along in order to access our room. Finally, there were several different WiFi systems set up in the hostel but none of them actually worked.

initially i was disappointed by the location when i arrived in the evening, it’s on top of a hill and was quite far from town but after seeing the view in the morning coupled with the excellent customer service of the staff i would definitely come back! it’s a bit far from where the action is but that means the nights are peaceful… it’s close to maremegmeg beach where people from town flock to see the amazing sunset! they will also gladly bring you back and forth town on their company car and straight up to the hotel for the same price as the tricycles available on the road.

My stay in Elnido turned out to be a complete nightmare, which ruined my entire trip to the Philippines. Despite the great view, it was all for nothing after enduring a 17-hour flight and van ride, only to be greeted with the booking confirmation from Agoda that they said that they are fully booked. Even though they apologized and promised to find a nearby hotel, we ended up sitting around for over four hours while they pretended to search for accommodations. Eventually, we discovered that they were simply playing with us and lying through their teeth. We were beyond frustrated, and even though we decided to book another hotel through booking.com, we couldn't escape the same receptionist, Michel, who had lied to us earlier. She informed us that the hotel was far away, which turned out to be true, and we would only end up more exhausted if we went there and back. In short, we lost precious time and our travel mood was completely ruined. This frustration caused many other accidents during the rest of our trip. Finally at 10 pm after all hassle and headache they convinced us to stay in a room without hot water and ask Agoda to refund our money but I am not sure if I really  get refund and even I don’t care about it because my whole plan was ruined and money no more matter after this.

Avoid at all costs! We booked few nights but we had rats in our room so we decided to leave after first one. The manager assured us that we will get a refund for the last few night we skipped. As you can probably guess we didn't get a refund, and they not answering emails or calls. Worse place to stay in. Definitely avoid!

Great place to stay, work, chill. Lovely team. The co working space really helped me. Really good wifi and quiet. Exactly what I needed.
And the view is AMAZING!! Incredible sunset. This place is the one! They are opening their restaurant soon and I can’t wait to enjoy the sunset.

DO NOT BOOK HERE !!!
I hope this review will prevent you from making the same mistake we did. We are digital nomads and it was clear from the way this hostel advertised itself that we would be staying there.
But to our surprise, the experience was far from what we expected. In short: exorbitant prices for the rooms you get, many other customers have also left and asked for refunds from Rose, the person in charge of selling the rooms, no consideration for any complaints you may have, empty apologies with no action, internet connection that is 15 mbps at best, while they boast about having 100 mbps. Keep in mind that other hostels in the city, even just a kilometer away, offer 150 mbps. The pool is not cleaned, no water filtration system, a kitchen that is clearly unsanitary and not shown in any photos, no hostel atmosphere, no organized activities. The staff only apologizes after you point out issues (e.g. frozen food bought at the market when they cleaned the fridge, toiletry bags completely submerged in water with all the makeup ruined), a zip-line that they don't mention on their website, so expect noise every day, also note that dogs can bark anytime when you work or have a call no one will say a word, you have a view ruined by the construction of villas right in front.
The only positive thing about this hostel is the view, which again belongs to the restaurant, Lexias, and a simple meal there will suffice.

Do not be fooled, they boast about having good wifi and a great location, but it is the complete opposite. The hostels in the city are much better! Also, please note that my complaints have been brought to the attention of the people who present themselves as the managers of the hostel, we left 10 days before the end of our reservation and no apology was given, except for "you need to buy a modem for internet and be more open to the country as a foreigner."

850€ in such a dump for the service they offer is a joke.

AVOID AT ALL COST.

We spent ten days in the Lexias Hostel. I was quite excited due nice photos and reviews on Booking.com, but Lexias Hostel turned to be a disapointment. Views were great and there was a nice relaxed atmosphere within other backpackers. I found out several annoying things which made me feel bad due our hostel selection:
FOOD:
- I don't know how many chefs they have working, but every meal took over hour to cook and it was cold everytime. We complained and got another meal after long wait only slightly warmer but still quite cold.
- Hostel offers breakfast which includes one egg, two slice of bread and some pineapple slices. You can upgrade your breakfast for 75-150 PHP and order more eggs or bacon etc. You would expect to get your extra eggs quickly because they're anyway cooking eggs for other guests. False. We waited over half hour for two eggs and slice of bacon.
- Most foods on the menu are not available

Location:
- On top of very high and surge hill. Elder or disabled people will have serious issues to get there.

Infrastructure:
- Half of the sockets in our dorm didn't work
- Very limited personal closet space. Full size rucksack won't fit in and maybe you don't want to leave your personal items in visible.
- Limited clothesline compared to amount of guests.
- There was construction waste all around yard.
- Air condition made horrific noise all over time. During day and night. Sometimes I feared it would explode or catch on fire. Bring ear plugs. We complained and hotel staff came take a look but they couldn't do anything for it.
- There was multiple times probles with sewer system or no running water in taps or showers.

Service:
- We had to ask three times to get our dorm cleaned and when it was done they only changed half of towels.
- Common areas were quite clean.

Avoid.

Response from Lexias E, General Manager at Lexias Hostel and Workspace El Nido
Responded Nov 30, 2019
Dear Thoumas...Thank you for your time to write this review, I apologize for this bad experience and your stay with us did not meet your expectations. We earnestly instituted the following measures to see to it that our guests will have a better, positive & wholesome experience. FOOD We put up an egg station at the Breakfast Lounge so eggs etc are cooked right away and served hot from the frying pan. This will also provide quick breakfast service. LOCATION Recognizing the difficult access road to/from our hostel specially for guest checking in and checking out, we have been providing FREE transport from/to our hostel (to/from Macdo at main road/Vanilla Beach entrance). ROOMS There is now a COMPLAINT DESK at the Reception with a bold signage so that all complaints (sockets not working, A/C malfunction, sewer and water supply etc.) are acted right away. We also talked to our Manager and maintenance person to be more responsive in fixing maintenance issues. SERVICE I am very disappointed to hear that our room service and housekeeping staff did not meet your expectations. Your remarks are well noted and I personally will make every effort to remove all shortcomings as soon as possible. We will try the next time to be more than expected.I will personally supervise that all your other complaints are addressed and that everything will be in order on your next visit. We look forward to welcoming you back then. Maverick
