When our airport transfer van stopped and put us on a tuk tuk to access the bumpy beach road, we weren't sure what to expect, but bougainvillea cottages were perfect for what we wanted. Tuk tuk was always around to take you to town or pick you up. Staff extremely helpful and friendly, always up for a chat. Small rustic rooms but we didn't spend much time in rooms. Great breakfast and cute bar. We enjoyed el nido very much, the beaches and the boat trips and the good restaurants in town.
Perfectly located in just 15 minutes walking to El Nido city center. Villas are very comfortable and cosy. Friendly staff. Nice breakfast and other dishes a la carte. Free hot/cold water available 24 hours. Very nice, clean and small swimming pool area. There is no mosquito net above the bed, no safe box, no fridge and water pressure was terribly low. Free tuk-tuk shuttle to El Nido city center is available. We really recommend this place when staying in El Nido!
We really loved this place. Great food, great staff and great accommodations. Everything was so nice here until the hotel and the driver (we drove from Puerto Princesa to El Nido) start accusing us for not having payed the driver when we arrived at the terminal in El Nido. So we would have love to rate this place 5 stars but when people accusing us for lying it drop down to only one star. The driver keeps saying we didn’t payed to the hotel even though we for sure know we did. Then they (both driver and hotel) starts calling us at says that we don’t pay - which is also annoying.
We stayed here for 4 nights. We paid £95 a night. That's a lot in the Philippines. Everywhere else in the Philippines that got us a lot for our money (even Manila). At Bougainvilla you get a pretty small room. Only space to really unpack one suitcase. The other had to go on the floor and you need to edge your way around the bed. The balcony area is pretty small and although they do provide a table and 2 chairs there's not much room. This is your 'desk' by the way. As a view you either get the small pool or the restaurant area. The bathroom is fine. The water really smells bad and is brown a lot. Both my partner and I got very sick here from the water in the shower. By sick I mean 2 nights of severe vomiting. It wasn't the food as I ate none but their breakfast that day. Staff aren't very friendly at all. A couple do a reasonable job. They need A LOT more training. Forget any kind of happy service. The room cleaners are the happiest. The food in the restaurant is the only positive thing I can really say. It's presented well and tastes good for the most part. It's an expensive place that if I paid half the price it might just be acceptable. …
This little pearl of a hotel is situated in a "hidden" place at the Caalan Beach in El Nido. Only way in is by feet or scooter/tricycle. The resort has a very appealing atmosphere. Nice and quiet and no rush, but still fast and reliable service. The staff at Bougainvilla Cottages deserves only the best recommendation. They picked us up at the Lio Airport and actually drove us and picked us up as well in the town, when we needed it. For free! Great service. We had to travel very early and was offered travel-sandwiches and a "safe travel"-salut. Rooms af nice and cozy and you have a little table at your "terrasse". You can customize your breakfast. Omelets, cereals, pancakes and fruits.
