The rooms are basic and the bamboo walls super thin, so you hear every little noise your neighbour makes. The staff is friendly, but if you need something, better speak directly to the manager who is extremely helpful. For what we paid we didn‘t expect more and enjoyed our stay, although we did not like El Nido that much.

After more than a year in the Philippines, this is pretty much the first time I have to badly complain about a hotel/resort. First of all, we made the booking directly on their website. When we checked-in, the hotel was empty and although we initially had booked for a 3 pax bedroom, we decided to split in a twin room (with A/C) + a single room (no A/C). We were offered a competitive rate at Php1,300 per night for the extra room and managed to get a discount from Php 2,300 to 2,000 on the other room we decided to keep. It appears we had been upgraded to the seafront room, which was nice. Everything was fine and very laid back until we find out the next morning that the electricity had to be shut down from 06:00am to 06:00pm and that the room were to be cleaned every 3 days unless otherwise instructed by the guest. I complained to the manager in charge and she responded that this is was their policy. I told her the least she and her staff could have done was to inform upon check-in about that. Although she appeared concerned and apologetic, nothing much changed over the following two days. The restaurant was closed despite the fact we were at the end of the low season. The service was very evasive, slow, and soporific. The towels weren't particularly clean. I mean for the price the whole experience was ok. However, on our last day getting ready to check out we found out that Php 8,000 had disappeared from a bag left in the room between 07:30pm and 09:30pm the day before. Someone had managed to take just the cash and nothing else. We did express our disappointment to the owner and explained that (1) there was little/no security on site, (2) all room keys are left unattended most of the night at the reception, (3) there is no safety box in the room and (4) the room locks can be easily opened from outside with a piece of soft plastic such as the one on the room key holder (I demonstrated it live). The police came and completely dismissed the options of an inside or outside job. The owner and his manager told us we were making up the story to avoid paying, which I found extremely insulting. The police managed to confirm the feeling. On top of that, there is literally no ATM available in El Nido. The only option is to use a credit card at a gas station but a passport is required and we had left them in our place in Puerto Princesa to avoid having them stolen, pretty much like the money. After a couple of hours negotiating, we were released and had to arrange a wire transfer from PP. Arrived back there, I found out that not only this hotel but El Nido is pretty much prone to theft in all kinds. A local friend who rents bike showed me a police report from El Nido about a theft case that happened a few days before. All in one, the police simply told us that "people in El Nido aren't thieves". I won't make generalities but unfortunately there are thieves there, whoever they are and this specific hotel is at risk. Be aware.
In spite the negative feeling, the place is kind of nice for the view it offers on the bay but that's it. There are other hotels/resorts down there and they are surely safer.
The sleep quality is poor as they are dogs barking on the beach and rooster crowing as well.

I crawled in to this resort at 10pm with a sore behind (thanks to the 6 hr van ride from puerto to el nido). I got the budget room since i was staying half the night only. It was definitely more than i expected. The room was basic - bed, mosquito net, electric fan, toilets and free breakfast. Not bad for 300 a night at off peak season.

I stayed at another resort then transferred to the town proper. At 800 a night, i could say the budget room in islandfront was better. So i searched for other alternatives and ended up back at islandfront. Stayed an additional 3 days and transferred to the beach front room with a huge balcony. Best place to watch and photograph the sunset.

The resort is designed with natural and repurposed materials. Lots of plants and mismatched tiles added to its rustic charm. Food is ok, servings are big, and best to eat at the beachfront common areas. Location is 5 mins away from town, and about 15 mins away from las cabanas. Easily accesible by tricycles. I arranged my nacpan land tour with them and got a discount plus additional las cabanas transpo too.

Staff is corteous and always ready with a smile. They have a lot of dogs in this property, and the beach turns into a dog park in the afternoon once low tide hits. Lots of birds too, and the occassional gecko. Best place for long term stay on a budget. More time and resources to explore el nido! Will be back soon!

Rustic!! Hand built with bamboo, many years ago. Grab a beachfront room, worth the extra money. Only rooms to stay. I believe there is four facing the ocean at your doorstep, stepping down to the beach.. Family-owned, very old, nothing fancy but clean, no bugs. Low water pressure was to be expected. I live in the Phillipines, scuba diving, this is my favorite place to stay. 4 hour bus ride from Palawan airport. It is the go to island for the locals.

I am writing this review really, really late because we stayed here in Janruary 2009.I had to click a box, so I selected 2011 just to get this posted.

Anyways....

We took a long boat ride fro Coron and arrived in the main town of El Nido only to find out that the virtually the whole town was almost completley booked. So if you are going to El Nido in Dec/Jan be sure to book a reservation.

Some of the locals suggested we hop on a taxi for a short 10-15 minute trip to another ocean front namely Island Front Cottages. Upon our arrival there, we found out that they were also fully booked, except for a room right beside the owners residence, seprated by a thin bamboo wall, offering us almost no privacy. Given the situation, we were still very greatful for the room we got.

The cottages there are built with bamboo and in the traditional native style.Cold showers and a small fan was all that was available, but hey for $20 a night we weren't complaining. The surrounding beach and garden area, yard etc were very beautiful and serene, tastfully created by the owner.

Anyways, here's the INCREDIBLE deal we got for about $ 50-60 daily....simply incredible!!!

Our aformentioned simple bamboo room with a nice little(eating area) balconey. The ambience of a tastefully decroated property and gorgeous beach front. This beach offers much more serenity to the very busy beach in El Nido.

Free breakfast
A daily 6 hour PRIVATE romantic boat tour with just my wife,I and two young, friendly Filipino guys.

Free lunch on some secluded island....

A barbqued seafood or fish dinner complete with rice veggies and the most awesome fresh friut including papaya, mangoes or pinappple absolutley the best fruits I've ever tasted......fantastic meal!!!!

We were taken to beautiful lagoons with spectacular coral, romantic and simply breathtaking and perfect, as we were on our honeymoon.

I've been to some nice beaches in Thailand, Malaysia and Mexico, but nothing, nothing matches the white sand beauty of what I saw in the Philipinnes.

We were taken to island after island of tropical paradise on beautiful white sand beaches for four days straight experiencing one of the most beautiful areas in the world.

The snorkeling we encountered was magnificent....a dozen different colors and fish swimming everywhere. All other places I've snorkeled since(Thailand included) have been dissapointing!

In closing:

This review is a little late and things may have changed a little, but I doubt it. The owner there is a super friendly, accomodating man so if he is still in charge, I'm sure it's still good.

I just feel for the hospitality he afforded us, the least I could do is give him a deserved, great reveiw.

First of all if you are considering to stay in islandfront or islandfront 2 you should think twice. We arrived in this dirty place during the night and there were 2 guys in the reception who didn't speak English. They took us to the room and when we got in there was a big rat. we claimed that we couldn't stay in that room and he transferred us to another room in the twin hotel islandfront. The room was a bit better but the price was the double than the one before. Although in this one there wasn't visible rats the walls were to thin and we could hear everything from others rooms. In the morning we woke up and had a terrible breakfast and finally we decided to move out to another place. to summ up the place was disgusting and staff not friendly. The location veery far from restaurants. The price abusive!! these pictures are not telling the truth! There is a beach but this doesn't worth your stay in this terrible place!!
Thank you

Island Front has the best sunset view in El Nido!!! Staff is very friendly and helpful, hotel provides island hopping tours which are smaller but better than the ones in downtown. Recommend everyone to visit El Nido!

This hotel is without doubt the worst place I have ever stayed. From beginning till end it was a complete disaster. We arrived on day one in time for check in and was told our room hadn’t been cleaned (the pictures are not representative at all and most are of a different hotel), we waited over an hour for this to be completed. No one actually bothered to tell us it was ready and we had to go back to reception a while later and get the key. The rooms are very dark with no view of the beach just a building site and the constant smell of sewage. The shower, toilet and sink continuously stopped working. In 3 days we must of called down to reception about 5 times just to fix this. There are huge gaps in the walls so we encountered a rat which brought in rubbish and left it in a pile in our room. We booked a boat tour through the hotel, they took our money and said we needed to pay extra for the environmental licence which we obviously agreed to. We were given no receipt and when we got on the boat the next day they had no record of our booking however kindly agreed we could stay on. We decided to book our next tour through another agency who said we can use the same environmental licence we purchased previously as these last for 10 days. When we asked the hotel for this licence they could not produce it. We were told to come back later to which we replied that we wanted our money back for this as they had clearly not purchased it or paid for the previous boat trip. After a few hours they agreed to refund us for the licence. The way we were treated from start to finish was appalling. We were meant to stay for 6 nights but had to leave after 4 as it was just ruining our time. I can see from below reviews that the hotel writes that they are always willing to help when problems arise but this is completely untrue, we went countless times and nothing was done. They also change the wifi at least everyday to stop guests using it. There are plenty of places to stay in El Nido so do not pick this one as you will not have a happy stay.

DONT GO TO THIS HOTEL!!!!!. A poorly run and expensive hotel for what you get. I booked this hotel through Expedia and the photos are obviously photoshopped because the view shown does not exist. Upon arrival the very young receptionist was more interested in playing with her phone and looking after her young children that were running around, the wifi is useless because it is constantly being used by the young inexperienced staff (the entire hotel consists of very young inexperienced staff), and wifi only works in the reception area. I was shown to my room and taken up a set of stairs that are positively dangerous with broken handrails and steps that a mountain goat would find difficult to negotiate and tried to take a hot shower which remained cold for a short time but then the water stopped completely. After reporting this and numerous visits to and from my room I was told it was fixed. When I tried again there was no hot water. They then changed my room and I asked the very young man who was supposedly the maintenance person to try the hot water only to see the tap come off in his hand when he turned the knob. Again no hot water and again numerous times to fix it I received a Luke warm(and that’s being generous) shower. I almost forgot the blood smeared on the aircon which was just disgusting. Breakfast was a complete farce with staff still feeding themselves at 7.30 (breakfast is supposed to be from 7-10) and food was poor to say the least, plates and cutlery dirty half empty sugar jar that had coffee clumps in it and staff were less than helpful or accommodating I have stayed in many hotels during my travels around Asia but this would have to be the worst I’ve ever experienced. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL WHILE IN EL NIDO.!! I give it no stars but this review area does not allow that so stay well away from this hotel if you are planning a trip to El Nido.
