Our trip started with waiting 45 minutes to be picked up from the airport which perfectly summarises our experience at golden monkey. Btw, it costs 400p and you need their scooter if you have bags because the normal population of scooter drivers can’t fit down the narrow alley which leads onto the main beach. If you just have a small bag, consider taking a scooter from the airport and walking the 15 minutes to golden monkey. The staff tries hard and there was always hot water + aircon in the room. However, this location requires a ride to town which was often 15-45 minutes after the requested time making it difficult to meet for tours/dives which require a fixed meet-up (usually 8 or 9am). This is further complicated by the mad rush for breakfast when it opens at 7am and a 30 minute wait for (instant) coffee being the norm and another 15+ for food. The other major consideration about whether you’d be happy with this hotel is the noise from dogs barking (and reproducing) is 24/7 and roosters start crowing from 545am onwards making it very difficult to get a good nights sleep.…
My wife and I spent three fabulous nights at the Golden Monkey. Our room was literally on the beach, although elevated for privacy from beach walkers. Sitting in our beach lounge chairs, we looked right out at Cadlao Island (see pano shot) Our spacious room had a king sized bed, vaulted ceilings, a fan, air conditioning, hot showers, and complementary shower gel and shampoo. We couldn’t ask for more. The free breakfast options were delicious and the atmosphere in the common sitting area was superb. Best of all the guesthouse is within walking distance to El Nido town but in a completely secluded and quiet stretch of beach. We would highly recommend the Golden Monkey to other travelers.
The bedroom and bathroom provide the minimum. However everything is really clean. The receptionists and security guard are lovely and will always try and make your stay great. The situation of the hotel is ideal as next to the center but on a quieter beach. I really recommend this hotel for à El nido stay
We arrived to El Nido after a four day boat trip and were delighted by the comfortable, clean room with amazing views of the bay. The staff was very friendly and allowed us to check out late after my husband got food poisoning from a restaurant down the street. The hotel is prettier than the photos. For those looking for a quiet spot outside of the hustle and bustle of town, I highly recommend. Note: the WiFi is very spotty and they only serve breakfast so be prepared to take a long walk or tuk-tuk for dinner. FYI for those visiting El Nido: you cannot swim at the beach as the water is contaminated in town. Be very careful about the water and what you eat. We may have considered staying at another beach town had we known that this.
We stayed over new years, when everyone had elevated prices. Golden Monkey is located a short walk outside of el nido town. Their view of the bay is great, it is right on the water. it is not a beach you can swim as it is too shallow and covered in rocks, but looks nice and you can walk along it to get to town. We had an AC room without a view. Room was large, AC worked well, water pressure was great, wifi was decent for el nido. Breakfast was not great, they didn't have 1/2 the things on the menu and some of the meals are significantly less food than others. The only common area is the restaurant, which only serves breakfast. While overall expensive for Philippines, it was good value compared to its neighbors.
We spent three days at Golden Monkey and we loved it. We had a first line bungalow with the waves splashing us when relaxing on the terrace. The room is not special but is good enough. It is 10 min walk to the main beach/ sea tours departure point and close to Havana Restaurant (really nice!). The staff is very helpful and the breakfast is rather small but good. The best thing about Golden Monkey is the spectacular view from the room terrace. During one night there were strong waves and it was more difficult to fall asleep but that's it ...
Stayed here in July 2019, we were a little unlucky with the weather as it was in the middle of the wet season. Not far from the town itself, 15 minute walk along the beach or 5 mins along a rather rough track. We had a room right on the beach with lovely view of the nearby islands. Comfortable large room with nice hot shower in the bathroom. Enjoyed our stay here, even in the rough weather.
I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It was quiet and very close to the beach with great views. Staff was nice and breakfast was good. It was a bit out of the way from the rest of the town but I enjoyed the walk .
We didnt stay here, but we booked all our private island hopping tours through Golden Monkey. They partner with Dos Hermanos Boat and the crew that was assigned to us was very very good! They were a crew of 4 and all were very friendly, accommodating and gave best service. We highly recommend them! If you guys want to do island hopping, pls contact them and ask for Marvin. You may also contact him via 09306601957. We booked 3 days of private tour A, B and combi CD. The food they served us were a feast and we were just 3. The boat we used was big enouh for 15 pax but they let us use it. What a service!
Everything was basic and unworthy. Visited this place after spending 6 days at Boracay with my family . Had great expectations but our excitement ended when we checked in to this hotel . No proper management , no food available at this place , secluded area where you won’t find any restaurant nearby ( you can if walk 3kms on a tiny street ) no proper wifi , no electricity most of the time (stayed here for 3 nights) geyser non working. Basic rooms at prices equal to 4 star hotels . Chosen this hotel on Reviews but it was a big disappointment. Though the sightseeing n lagoons were unbelievably beautiful.
