I booked a 10 day stay at the Frangipiani. Reservation made in September 2019. The stay was scheduled for March 2020. Due to the covid-19 the trip was canceled and Frangipiani had assured me that I would get a refund. To date, more than 2 years have passed and I have not received anything, they have stopped responding to my emails and messages. They disappeared. Other smaller and cheaper hotels refunded me immediately when the pandemic broke out. The frangipiani, on the other hand, has disappeared. Angel and Paco (I don't know if they work there anymore) wrote to me in 2021 that I would receive the refund within 30 days, but obviously it wasn't like that. I don't know if I should call a lawyer or keep writing to the hotel in hopes of their response. The problem is that in 2019 to make the reservation they asked me to pay the full amount, or more than € 2,000 so that's a lot of money.

First the good. The staff were mostly lovely, the sunset views were great and the rooms large and modern. Unfortunately there were a number of issues. First was that the room stank of mould. They had an air purifier in the room, but the smell was still overwhelming. We got moved to another room on the second day, which was still a bit musty, but better. However this room was overrun with ants. They were everywhere (they even got into the suitcase and the bed). We were there with a baby and we had to throw anything he didn’t finish out immediately as a result. The wifi in both rooms didn’t work, but once we complained they provided a wifi dongle. What annoyed us though was that they tried to say that the problem was that their wifi “isn’t compatible” with our devices. Clearly BS. We chose this as a luxury last stop on our trip to the Philippines and came away disappointed. For the price, we were expecting much better.

This is just a small hotel with few rooms only. The view is really amazing particularly if you are in the panoramic suite. You can get great pictures from the balcony. The room is clean, spacious, modern amenities with smart TV and provide you with more than enough towels. You have many choices for breakfast and food is good. Even if this is just a small hotel, their staff is adequate so they were able to provide good service. The hotel is beach front but not that ideal for swimming since the beach is very near to the boats. Also, the wifi needs to be improved. Overall, I will still recommend this place because of the location, amazing view, quiet, very nice rooms, good food and good service.

This was our first trip with my family after 2 years in the pandemic, and it definitely did not disappoint! We stayed for 5 nights in the Sea View rooms. Frangipani is a private and cozy hotel which is perfect to catch up and unwind with family. . We loved the food in Cala and drinks in Rubra. Most especially, we would like to thank the staff Chinara ,Fatima, Jen and Lance for their impeccable service during our stay. Thank you to the whole team for making our mom's birthday a most unforgettable one. We're hoping to return next year!

Location is great, views from room 301 were amazing, service was outstanding. Room 301 is the suite on the top floor which can host 4 people, has a separate bedroom with ensuite and an extra awesome bathroom overlooking the bay. View from balcony was wow and sunsets even more wow. Our stay unfortunately coincided with the Covid19 pandemic, which affected the pleasure of our trip. However if it wasn't for the hotel's staff (Jane in particular) who informed us immediately of the closure of Manila airport, we would had been stuck in El Nido for a month. They even organized hot sandwiches to take with us to the plane! It is a cosy little place, a small slice of paradise. The beach in front of the hotel stretches for kilometres and depending on the level of the water you can walk to the famous Las Cabanas beach from the hotel. Breakfast is ala cart and service was top. The breakfast area was so cosy I wanted to stay there all day. If I was to go back to El Nido I would not look for any other hotel. It was the best choice for us. A few comments on the Philippines in general: 1. Nobody we interacted with except the hotels takes credit cards, so make sure you take enough cash with you. 2. If you want to change cash at the exchange houses, make sure you go early in the morning as by the evening they may run out. 3. Make sure you take some of the boat trips. All the beauty of the islands is in the water. They are very cheap compared to other destinations (€30-35 per person including lunch). Totally worth it! 4. If you stay at Frangipani (highly recommended) allow at least one full day to explore the beach underneath. So beautiful! 5. The only thing I missed from breakfast in all hotels I stayed was yogurt. 6. There is a general problem in the Philippines of ants which are so tiny that pass through anything. Do not leave any food lying around in the room. 7. Do not expect pressurized water in the shower as in Europe in El Nido. 8. If you enjoy snorkeling, take your mask and flippers with you. Some tours offer for free, others for rent, others don’t. 9. Nice to have: plastic shoes to walk on rough bottom shallow lagoons, waterproof covers for phones. You can survive without them, but you will enjoy the water tours more if you have them. Both are sold everywhere so you can buy locally. I regretted not buying them from day 1. 10. If you have a sensitive stomach, watch what you eat. I spent a few hours sick on my way from Coron to El Nido. 11. We spent 3 nights in Coron and 4 nights in El Nido. With hindsight I think it was balanced. Possible itinerary for a week: Coron day 1 - hot springs and mountain climb for sunset Coron day 2 - boat tour Coron day 3 - boat tour Day 4 - ferry from Coron to El Nido (3+ hours) and chill on beach El Nido day 5 - boat tour El Nido day 6 - boat tour El Nido day 7 - chill on beach 12. All boat tours are fixed by the government, so you just choose which one and go along. Price is pretty much the same irrespective of where you book. Hotels charge 300-400 pesos extra per person but you get to add it on the bill so you can pay by credit card. Any tour you choose is breathtaking. 13. Getting around is easy. With 50-100 pesos the motorcycle taxis (tuk tuk) can take you anywhere. However it is worth hiring a proper taxi (van) for the airport, no matter how close you are to it.
