I stayed here with my friend and the hostel had a very weird vibe. There wasn’t any AC in the rooms so it got even hotter inside the dorms than outside, like a sauna way hotter in the rooms than outside. The worst thing, is that I have bedbug bites all over my body, I’ve encountered bed bugs 5 years ago and I am 99.9% positive the bites I have are bedbug bites since I am allergic to bed bugs. The only positive thing about the hostel is the location, the beach is so nice, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

A lovely, party-hosting and friendly spot! The beach and surrounds are stunning, with the most beautiful beach at sunrise and sunset. Great opportunity to mingle with a lot of other people from all over the world even though you are traveling alone! The staff were amazing and so lovely! Just sad they fire good staff for the silliest reasons! They should really reconsider before firing their staff! The staff are the one keeping the guests happy there! So thumps down to Mad Monkey for not taking good care of their staff, and firing good people for the silliest reasons Otherwise a lovely place! With a beautiful party life and awesome nature! What an excellent hostel in a brilliant location. With only a few other places to stay on Nacpan, I highly recommend it is MM. We were greeted with friendly welcomes from the barman and the receptionist, and felt to be made of a new family on arrival. We stayed in the loft double private room which was great, such an experience living in a rooftop room! The bar is out front so there is little noise travel to the back of the rooms too. The shared bathrooms were always clean with plenty of room. Very impressed.

The rating is for the amazing staff, reps (Josh, Remy, Bri) and the social aspect of this hostel. Brilliant What does leave a very sour taste is the pricing. 130peso for a beer (90/100 in more upmarket hostels, 80 at MM before covid) is a joke. Very expensive prices for food that was average at best. Get drinks for a fraction of the price at other places along the beach. Tents are very over priced, unusable during the day due to the heat. It was embarrassing to have recommended to friends they book these based on how they were 3 years ago. No air con, no hot water. I’ve kept my rating at 5/5 as the staff/reps and the social side deserve this, but if the following Mad Monkeys I’ve booked for the upcoming weeks have such **** take high prices, my review scores will be dropping sharply.…

This place is awesome.The loft was very cozy and clean,great location right on the beach and the atmosphere there was the best.Josh and Remy made sure we feel comfortable and welcome.All the staff was super friendly and helpful.Jennifer at the reception is a real gem. These two aslo organize boat trips and some parties at night,so we had more fun than we expected to have. We would definitely go back to the mad monkey anytime. Love from the two Marias.

4 of us visited Nacpan beach for 3 nights. We enjoyed the party hostel vibe, hosted by Cody and Mai who ensured everyone had a great time and loads of drinking games took place. Mad monkey punch is worth it- unlimited cocktail for an hour and starts your night off well. All staff really helpful and friendly and DJ brown’s music was great to dance to. Good atmosphere and really good place to meet friends. The dorms have a fan for each bed and beds are comfortable as 3/4 size. Toilets always clean too. We did the island hopping boat tour too which merged all the best sites of other tours. Private boat which picked us Up from the hostel and loads of good scuba diving stops and nice lunch provided. Be careful- the whole area of Nacpan beach only accepts cash and the nearest cash machine is a 45min bus ride which costs 700 pesos for return trip so plan in advance and take cash with you. Also wifi is temperamental so have your next hostel booked before you go to Nacpan…

Had an amazing time at Mad Monkey. Bar and reception staff are super friendly and helpful. Also a great team of hostel reps here too! Jack and Mart are so good at getting everyone involved in the games in the evening and the DJ killed it.Had the most fun there couldn't imagine better reps.I went on the Island hopping with Mart and had one of the best days here on Philippines. A full 7 hour day trip , great music, and great vibes. We had a fun moment in one of the caves there- we we sharing our stories with the group - funny ond touching moment. I highly recommend Mad Monkey to everyone. Best regards- Lama Girl :)

While my husband and I were aware that accommodation on Nacpan was limited and that the only available option on the night we were set to arrive would be a party hostel, nothing could prepare us for the “private room” we were set to receive. In fact, the accommodation was the worst value we had in all of our 18 years of backpacking Asia; for $100CAD ($75USD)/night, we booked a private room with private bathroom (yes, it listed a p-r-i-v-a-t-e bathroom on the booking website we used) and received a dimly lit room with no door and 3 open walls, a slim, old mattress surrounded by a mosquito net, a locker with no lock (we were told we would have to purchase a lock if we wanted one), and no bathroom. No breakfast was also included for that price. Now, I understand that if you are paying dirt cheap prices, you should expect dirt cheap standards, but paying good money and getting poorer accommodation than the dorms (at least they had walls to keep out the noise and the animals - we were often visited by loud, fighting cats in heat) simply isn't acceptable. The staff were very kind and provided a refund for the second night we booked, but don't come here unless you stay in the dorms; there are far better value places in Nacpan and you can still party at Mad Monkey until dawn. …

We have stayed at a lot of Mad monkeys and this was one of our favourites! It has a wonderful location on one of the worlds best beaches but by far the best part of it is Jack the rep - he honestly couldn’t do more for everyone! Always happy, upbeat and friendly - he is a real asset to the company! Shout out to Ron on the bar too :) if you’re trying to choose where to stay - pick here!
