This sweet little hotel provided excellent service with a gorgeous outlook and relaxed vibe in a quiet location (except on NYE but to be expected). The rate included return airport transfers and a good breakfast (maybe a few too many non-western options for a predominantly western guest). The restaurant had a good choices for lunch and dinner on the menu for reasonable price. We were so happy we booked a Bayview room which had a large bedroom with high ceilings, an enclosed balcony with lounges and chairs, and a fabulous plunge pool/spa overlooking the beautiful formations of the bay. The hotel is an easy walk away along the beach to town for tour departures to the islands. The bathroom is a little small and water pressure is low but I think that’s El Nido in general. Not a bad toilet for SE Asia either. You can expect mosquitos at night and ants in your room if you leave sugary drinks around but thats life on an island near the beach so you just have to adjust accordingly. The power shuts off when you leave the room as its room key operated but thats good for energy conservation and the room cools quickly when you get back. The road from the town to the hotel is unpaved via a dirt bike with trailer so older/people with back problems/injuries may not enjoy the bumpy off-road ride to/from town. We just walked along the beach if we wanted to visit town for any reason. I think El Nido is paving that road soon too. My only other concern is that the neighboring resort is much louder which may not be ideal for light sleepers/people with children. I would request a room on the same side of the property as the restaurant or further from the beachfront if you like quiet. I would happily recommend this property and would stay again.

The cottages/suite has beautiful design. Only two things that was defective in our room, water in the bathroom sink drips out and to the floor, i also found a big chunk of hair in the shower wall. Overall is very good especially the food at the restaurant and the best mango daiquiri ive ever had. We like hanging out by the pool side having delicious food and good cocktails while the ocean view was fantastic!

This hotel was fine but lacked character and was more like a business hotel. The location is out of town but along a track which is a bit sketchy at night. The hotel offers a shuttle which is great, but it’s not ideal. The staff were mostly helpful. The pool is great but there isn’t much seating by the pool which isn’t great because it means you can’t really make the most of it. The food in the restaurant was fine but it would have been nice if they had more Philippine options. The restaurant also seemed quite overpriced in comparison to the other places in El Nido. The room was large but the curtain didn’t close properly. Overall it was fine but I probably wouldn’t return because I would prefer somewhere with more character and down a less dodgy track from town.

The garden villas are good, spacious and clean. The restaurant food was excellent. Location is good with shuttle or short walk to town, although at high tide you will have to cross the beach and may get your legs wet. The pool is only a plunge pool and the beach isnt great, but there are several very good beaches nearby. Sunset view is spectacular. Overall, a good choice hotel.

It has been renovated and the rooms are beautiful. The water pressure in the shower is weak, but not troublesome. The restaurant can be used all day and the taste is delicious.
I think the pool is not so big as to swim but to soak in the water and watch the sunset. Many people seemed to enjoy island hopping during the day and return in the evening, leaving the daytime pool empty.

The staff are basically hospitable. They are also available for consultation. They say if you need anything, you can contact them via the what’s app, but it’s pretty slow to notice, and I think it’s less stressful to call or go to the front desk. They would pick us up on a tricycle to the entrance to Town Square, but only half of them were seen in a timely fashion via what’s app contact. It takes about five minutes to walk, so if you haven't read the message after five minutes, you should walk home.

The location is a bit inconvenient. The sandy road on the way to Town Square, even though there is a tricycle transfer service? is forced to walk in seawater at high tide, so do you really walk here!? I was surprised. It is recommended to walk in sandals rather than shoes when travelling.

No pick-up at the port despite reminders (even one day before our arrival), and there was no apology by staff at the reception. Also, we are still settling an issue of double-charging in payment by the hotel, awaiting clarification by the hotel. Having said that, the hotel has a potential, located in right in front of a beautiful beach with stunning view while it is a walking distance to the downtown.

Stayed for two nights in early January.
My daughter and I got very sick from the breakfast and rather than providing assistance the staff kept on saying it couldn’t be them. I was not seeking anything except recognition to fix their practices.
Upon check out I was charged for three nights not two ... still to reimburse the monies for the extra night.
Twice the tuk tuk s into town broke down.

Pity because it is a lovely little place.

Unfortunately, I am very disappointed with the hotel. The toilet bowl leaks constantly and everything is wet and stinks. The shower has fungus. There are no programs on the TV, only netflix if you have your password. The AC is above the bed, so you can't turn it on at night because it blows directly into the bed. The construction site around the hotel creates a lot of noise all day, and it starts early in the morning. The dogs bark all night so there is no sleep at all. Breakfast has a poor selection and at 9 o'clock the fruit is gone. And there is no other choice. For the price of almost 200 euros per day, this is terrible. Read the small print because they add various taxes and fees only after booking. That's more of a picture of a guest house, not a hotel or resort

Wow, what a hidden gem! We had a fantastic stay at The Nest, El Nido.We stayed in Apartment No.2 which was located opposite the pool/restaurant and just by the beach. We were made to feel incredibly welcome by the staff from the moment we arrived. All staff were amazing and couldn’t be more helpful and accommodating (special shoutout to Neil, our adopted son). The apartment was great and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The food and cocktails were really good, especially the breakfast, where you can pick from a number of options on the menu - I would recommend the ham and cheese omelette which was very tasty.Location is great and the hotel is right on the beach with beautiful views. The hotel garden/grounds was very well maintained and clean and tidy. Its about a 10min walk into the main town where the restaurants and bars are or alternatively, the hotel provide a free shuttle pick up/drop off service.Suggested improvements would be a few more sun-beds around the pool (although we didn’t actually have any trouble getting a sun-bed when we wanted one). There was also building works going on in Apartment No.1 during our stay with some drilling and banging however we didn’t let this bother us but just something to note if staying at the hotel in the next couple of months.Big thank you for such a fantastic stay and making us feel so welcome.

When we arrived in El Nido we had to leave the hotel we had actually booked as it did not live up to expectations. We were therefore in a difficult situation, but drove past The Nest as they had received good reviews. Although we had not already booked a room, we were super well received, Neil showed us the different options in terms of room choice, and we decided to stay there for the three current nights. The staff is incredibly sweet and helpful, very smiling and will help with anything :) The place has a lovely atmosphere, there is a calm atmosphere, though by the pool, and there is clean and well-maintained.
And their free tuk-tuk scheme the few hundred meters to the city works impeccably!! We just wrote on a WhatsApp number and they were there 5 minutes later.
Because of the lovely hotel, we extended our stay in El Nido by two extra days... So 5 big stars from here

Good question. The beach is nice, but I didn’t see anyone swimming other than kids. I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to swim there.

Hello, yes they have been asked to close. But the legal system there is quite slow so it could be months till something is done. If you are going to stay at the nest anytime soon then you could be alright, i stayed there in december and its a great resort, stunning views of the bay and a fantastic infinity pool. As much as the charm of the pool is being so close to the sea, it is illegal to be that close. If you are planning to stay In future, i would book somewhere else just to have peace of mind. El Nido itself is like a shanty town, pretty much a good experience of how the other half. Its pretty safe there, as long as you dont walk around late at night on your own, weve been alright every time weve gone to visit. The only thing i would say, which could potentially ruin your trip, is to stay away from salads and drinks with ice cubes or tap water, always buy drinks in bottles or cans, i know quite a few people that have gotten sick, including me. One of the big problems is the waste management, this is one of the issues they are dealing with which is why the government is now cracking down in El Nido, that and the illegally built hotels too close to the sea/beach (some have drains to the sea which have been destroying the beach and sealife for years and years) i wouldnt recommend swiming in the sea there, wading to get to the boats is fine. The islands are your best places for swimming and evrything, they are the main reason people go there, the islands are spectacular, right out of a postcard! Good luck and have fun over there!

Hello, The articles seem to be legit, they have also mentioned the same issues with Boracay on there, and I have definitely heard about that from my parents who live in the Philippines. The Nest is definitely on that list. When I went to stay in december I did notice it is very close to the shoreline, especially its newly finished infinity pool. It seems you have booked your holiday at a pretty unlucky time. There's been talk of environmental issues with El Nido for years and years, it's only in the past 5 years with the large influx of tourists that has tipped the scale and the government has decided to pull their fingers out and do something drastic. If they have issued an order for these places to shut down then the big question is not IF but WHEN. Legal matters can take quite some time to kick into action, I used to live in Puerto Princesa, I know how slow they can drag legal issues out, could be several months before they shut down the establishments, instead of 30 days. You're planning to stay in April, so you may be lucky enough to catch the last boat before they shut the place down. BUT, on very rare occasions I have also seen the legal systems work pretty fast. I would say it is pretty risky to go ahead staying at The Nest unless you have a back up? Have you paid for your room in full? Can you get a refund? Best thing is to contact The Nest itself and ask them what is happening. But if I were in your shoes, even if they say they'll be open, I would get my money back and book elsewhere.(Although if they are shutting down I doubt they'll happily give refunds) Other places may not be as beautiful as the Nest but at least you'll be sure to have somewhere to stay.Peace of mind! I'm pretty saddened by the news as well, the Nest is my favourite out of all the places i've stayed at. And I will give you one very important tip, which i tell everyone going to El Nido. Avoid any drink with ice cubes (fruit shakes) and salads, some establishments use mineral water, but not all, so it's always a gamble, and it really ruins the trip when you get ill. I've heard many people complain of getting sick (hence them trying to sort out environmental and water/waste drainage issues) and I got sick when I was there in december, I broke the rule and had a shake, and some drinks with ice. I've visited several times before without getting ill so I got complacent :-/ Hopefully none of this has put you off going and enjoying the place, it really is a beautiful paradise there, not El Nido itself, but the islands you go to on the boats, just like pictures on postcards :-) April shouldn't be too busy with tourists either, and rainy season doesn't really start till June so April is a good time to go! :-) Have a great time over there!!
